This actor was probably B+ list at his prime as far as acting went. He was probably an A list celebrity at his peak though because of his almost daily (well weekday) appearances on multiple television shows. One of those shows was basically a drunken mob of celebrities who would spend all day getting progressively more drunk while in front of the cameras playing a very easy game which required very little actual thought. A book could be written about everything behind the scenes. I am just focusing on one person right now. He would run into some parent with a tween boy at a grocery store and strike up a conversation and the whole point was to find out what school the boy went to. He then would start talking about getting the boy's class invited to the show for a field trip. The school would invariably say yes and then with the one teacher and a couple of parents star struck and also drinking, the actor would find some boy he found attractive and take him back to his dressing room where he might give him some booze or a pill and then molest the boy or have the boy touch him. This happened dozens of times and the show knew it was happening but didn't want to do anything about one of the main attractions of the show.

I highly doubt they kept him around because his star burnt too bright. He probably was supplying more important people.

But I truly hope she didn't know about the molesting. She's such a cool person and I'd hate to lose respect for her.
Incidentally, I mean, I figured she was a lesbian, but I didn't know she had a long term relationship with the actress who played Stephanie on The Bold and the Beautiful.
And to go along with his BI from the other day as well. What was it he solicited pictures of his young mail fans? And no parent that took kids to the show did anything or never found out?

ReplyDeleteThere is a real touching (no pun intended) documentary about CNR called "The Life Of Reilly". Brutal childhood. Dealt with homophobia most of his entire career. Finally found his spot.
ReplyDeleteDon't offer that as an excuse for inexcusable behavior. More as a reflection on why this reveal makes me sad, because after watching the documentary, I was happy to see the guy went on to accomplish something iwth his career.

@Sarah, making it work - Betty White was pretty much a regular as well. If anyone knows where are the skeletons are buries, it's that woman.
ReplyDeleteFunny how it is often suggested (and largely proven) the cast was awash in scandal. Gene Rayburn, the host, was married to the same woman for 56 years (until her death).
Given Betty's age, I don't think she ventures out much. Probably enjoying her pets and napping.

ReplyDelete@Ekaterina CH - I know the July 4 reveals continue somewhere, but I HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIND THEM. It's driving me nuts! That was (far as I know) a first for Enty, 100 reveals, and yet I can find them only going up to 39. I would be SO GRATEFUL if someone could send me the actual link to where in heck the start up again... I cannot find them on July 5. Does he start renumbering them? Everything ends with that multi "An Elegant Degradation" for me.
