Hey, I will give this former A- list actress turned B lister only because of name recognition. She cae up with a great way to get some news and tabloid covers to make the world sympathetic for something which is basically just the after effects of decades long drug abuse.

DeleteYes, MS is not caused by drinking or drugging BUT it makes the effects of greater on the central nervous system, I would think. Therefore all the Crazy Drunk Selma stories around here might be the result of fewer drinks or drugs than Enty imagines.

Over the years I have seen famous people claim to have a few months to live, appear on all the talk shows, and then, ten years later, still be running around and looking great. Ryan O'Neal comes to mind. Hope she has a great support system in place. It really helps.

DeleteMS is difficult to diagnose, usually requiring an MRI of the brain and/or spine to show nerve damage. If she has the symptoms she describes and a diagnosis, she's got MS. Symptoms can come and go, so seeming well one week/month or year then ill the next is not a sign they're faking it. Addiction is also a tough disease -- mocking someone for any disease is base.

ReplyDeleteMS destroys the myelin sheath around our nerves, and results in multiple signs depending on where the sheath has eroded. It can be in relation to walking/falling, but also sluggish/slurred speech, etc and be attributed to many things, such as drugs. It takes multiple tests to diagnose it, not simply an MRI.
They may look as normal as you or I during one day, and during an exacerbation be hardly able to move--I have one friend who goes blind during an exacerbation, and it lasts many days.
Well tell your friend enty said she shouldn't have done all those drugs in her youth ..apparently hes a doctor too ,😉

ReplyDeleteI’m not a druggie or alchoholic. I have MS and it sucks balls!!!!!! I look like I am drunk when I walk. On really bad days I walk like I am on flakka. I am thankful I can still walk.
ReplyDeleteI wish people could read more closely. Nobody said MS is caused by drugs. He’s saying she has the same symptoms from drugs and booze and spins it as MS when it’s not. Like a Hadid supposedly getting out in the great wilderness enough to get Lyme disease.

Annette Funicello died from MS. The film of her condition in the final months, is really heartbreaking
Ryan O'Neal has chronic leukemia. He survived a bout in 2011 and just recently had a relapse back in May. Chalk it up to good treatment for the wealthy. Eventually it will get him no matter how much he spends.

Combine the two and you will have some REAL destruction of the myelin sheath. That's basically the rubber bumper between nerves that protects them against unintentional electrical impulses.
This ^^^ is the cause of the Tweaker's Twitch and also the cause of MS tremors.
CLEARLY if you COMBINE THE TWO you gonna have a bad time. See? A little critical thinking and it becomes clear both these things in the blind can be true at the same time.

ReplyDeleteAt the very best, Enty is making a similarly unsubstantiated deduction based on judginess toward Selma's past drug use rather than valid medical literature. This is a very, very sketchy assumption to make about the state or reasons for her current health and only of use if he's trying to crush her spirit or make others distrust her.
