It was doomed from the start. It was doomed before it began. Neither person wanted to do the episode of the show. Both of them were basically forced to do it by their respective teams. The probable permanent A list talk show host and the permanent A list comic. They hate each other. They only talked when forced. There will never be a second episode. They may never speak again forever.

ReplyDeleteWhy would there be such animosity between the two of them? Because he was super famous when her show got cancelled? I believe the rumors about Ellen's behavior behind the scenes but this one seems a little strange.

Maybe they were fighting about who has got more money? Ellen is also an executive producer on her show and the show is in syndication also! And we all know know how much Jerry Seinfeld is worth.
ReplyDeleteEllen was a stand up for as long as Jerry was. She isn't any more while he still puts in the effort (if his last Netflix stand up show is any indication, he ain't putting in that much effort.) Hate each other? Maybe not care for one another but hate? Can't see it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Jerry and Ellen are strong enough in their respective positions their "people" can't force them to do anything. Jerry Car show has not big financial backers that can force things upon him. Ellen can do whatever the fuck she wants at this point. Who would her replacement be if she was fired? NO ONE. She calls the shots.
Not buying it.
I saw this episode and loved it. It seemed fine! They seemed fine. It was entertaining and funny. I must now go watch again. :/

ReplyDeleteI don't care about the blind, just commenting that I finally got around to seeing Santa Clarita Diet on Netflix. Drew's acting is as stilted as I remember it, but the actor (Tim Olyphant, love his work) and actress who play the husband and daughter are great. The Ellen related part is Portia shows up in the series, and I swear to god, she gets more attractive the older she gets.
ReplyDeleteRumor has it that Righteous Ellen is really a Mean Girl and a bully. Hollywood hypocrisy is getting to be a bit much. They're always telling people what to do, when to be angry, how to act, who to vote for, etc.

Just re-watched again for shiz and gigs. I 100% see it now.
ReplyDeleteLots of heavy (unfunny) sarcasm and forced conversation. Examples: when Ellen talks about jerry's kids at the diner, how she reacts to Jerry's domestic abuse joke (which was funny) and there's a tone of challenging one another. Major power struggle between the two, mostly from ellen. Some of the convo is lighthearted, but it's like two siblings trying to one up each other. Or similar to a mother-in-law dynamic
Also, Ellen says "wow" about 15 times, all in a condescending, judgmental, or unimpressed/displeased tone of voice. She's not that pleasant of a person- she challenges or questions everything someone says to her.
Jerry forever.
I also wonder about the episode with Galifianakis. I couldn't determine if they hated each other or if it was for the cameras. Galifianakis seems like a total asshole.

This blind finally confirms what I seen in that episode. They were very uneasy with each other and Jerry took some shots at hernthat could be taken as a joke but I thought he was taking a dig at her.
