Today's Blind Items - 146 Complaints

"Want to know the record for most complaints against one person?" That was the question posed to me by this studio employee while we were talking about Me Too and sexual harassment claims. Of course I wanted to know.

The employee, who is definitely in a position to know gave me the name. How many I asked. The response was 146 complaints. Those are only the ones where people actually came forward and complained. There were probably hundreds more. This show was out of control. The thing is that the entire main cast were all in on it. Tons of the crew were too. They felt like it was part of the theme of the show and it was authentic if they did it. The show was a big cable hit for many years. It ended a couple of years back.

So, the person with all the complaints was on the show sometimes. He was on it more often than he was credited. He didn't really care about being on the show. He liked what he did behind the scenes on the show. His best friend in life was the big boss of the show. Probably how he got to stay on the show long after he should have been fired.

One of the ways he would make a ton of money and garner a lot of complaints was to hire porn stars to come to the set. He would pay them $50-60 to stand around in lingerie. Sometimes they would be in shots and sometimes they would just be milling around. Then, during breaks, they would hook up with the cast and crew and our subject would get a cut of whatever the porn stars earned.

Another way he would generate a lot of complaints would be to bring women who were recently incarcerated or in rehab to the set. He would bring a half dozen at a time and these were women who really needed that pay you got being an extra. The only way they would get the gig though is if they blew this guy or one of the other cast or crew that wanted to be serviced. They needed the money and would do it.

As the show went on, he was given more and power to the point he was doing almost all of the background casting which just increased his power and the things he did. He came up with a name for the women he used and abused. He called them crow eaters.

After nearing the 150 complaint mark, he was finally fired from the show. So, yeah, when you think things are being cleaned up? They aren't.

  1. Doesn't say "pay cable" but The Sopranos or Boardwalk Empire?

  2. Im waiting for comments. Cus i have no clue what show this is.

  3. I was thinking Deadwood, with David Milch as the friend of whoever the person that is the subject is.

  4. Could also be Masters of Sex?

  5. I was thinking Boardwalk Empire because the big bosses I think were DiNiro and Scorsese. Don't know the actor definitely not Buscemi.

    1. Doubtful. Definitely fits SOA more. What about Robert DeNiro and Scorsese being the big bosses make this blind about them? If anything, I haven’t heard anything about those two doing anything metoo like.

  6. The Crow Eaters are basically SAMCRO groupies, available to club members for sex or companionship. Cherry is an example of a Crow Eater.

    1. Didn’t see this before my guess but they have had some weird deaths from that show.

  7. What show had half naked women in its scenes?

  8. @GeeWally, you got it. The hookers and recovering addicts fit in perfect. Someone should get the guy now.

  9. The Sopranos would be my guess. I loved that show, but I think the cast did get carried away at times.

I've never seen SOA, so don't know enough about it to say if it's them or not.

  10. entourage, right?

  11. +1 for Sons of Anarchy

  12. Jonathan Kasdan and Californication? Here's a snippet from an interview with Kasdan:

Paste : Last question. Tell me how awesome it is to be on the set of Californication? One of my favorite shows. Is it just hilarious all the time, to be on that set?
Kasdan: It’s great. You know, honestly, I-and I would tell you if it weren’t, it is almost as good as you’re imagining. It’s as good a job as I’ve ever had. You know? It certainly is as much fun as I can have. The guy that created it, Tom Kapinos, is someone that I knew from way back. He had sort of asked me in and said, ‘Will you play like, basically a version of yourself, just sleazier?’ And I thought it would be a one day thing, and we’ve ended up doing like five or six of them and I couldn’t enjoy it more. When I got there it was like the most warm, friendly, sort of inviting environment possible, combined with all these gorgeous gorgeous naked girls. So I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that, I mean I think that’s as good as it gets, maybe. You know?

  13. it's Sons of Anarchy. And, my guess for the recurring actor who is friends with Kurt Sutter (actor, creator, writer etc) is Marilyn Manson.

  14. I listen to a little known and usually entertaining podcast by a guy who works in radio in LA. Occasionally he has referred to his despising of Kurt Sutter and refuses ever to watch any of Sutter's shows because of the way a female friend of his was treated when she worked on the production of Sons of Anarchy. He has never mentioned what the actual treatment was but on hearing the loathing in his voice you can guess that it wasn't anything a trivial as being stiffed on a few pay checks.

Its not too hard to extrapolate things from there, but the way these Hollywood degenerates operate, it could be one of dozens of shows.

  15. +100 to Californication. And Duchovny's known sex addict.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Californication matches and so does Entourage. I want to say Entourage because that constantly had extras hanging around in whatever. Plus you have people like Piven on set.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Yea, I am also thinking Entourage and Jeremy Piven.

  18. +1 for Sons of Anarchy

  19. Definitely SOA since the crow eater clue (SAMCRO.) I can't imagine Katy Segal allowing Sutter to fornicate like that around the set, but she seems as though she'd be down with the rest doing it. I'd also like to close my eyes and not think that Charlie would be acting like that either. But I could certainly see some of the uglies on the show taking advantage of the situation.

Just trying to sort out who the actual subject of the blind could be.

    ReplyDelete
  20. SOA would be appropriate, but what about True Blood? Tons of nekkidness all the time... and some questionable extras. plus given the nature of the show, firing someone by saying they were killed off wouldn't raise an eyebrow.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Do none of you know what cable is? Gotta be SoA.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Not The Sopranos since the scenes in the Bada Bing weren't that frequent...at least not a weekly occurrence...and the girls not that numerous.

Anarchy or Californication, but who was fired from either show?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Sons of Anarchy. Crow eaters...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Californication didn't have as many half-clothed background women as SOA and it's premium cable. Sounds like SOA.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Could also be the Man show but I agree with SOA!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I immediately thought of Entourage given there were women in lingerie in every fucking episode, sometimes dozens, but as far as I know nobody was ever fired from that show and the obvious guess (Piven) was I believe in every single episode. Plus technically that's pay cable.

Show ended a couple years ago

  28. I was going to guess The Larry Sanders Show but it ended twenty years ago not a couple of years back.

Burn Notice? Psych? Monk? Law & Order: Criminal Intent? Nip/Tuck? Warehouse 13?

    1. Monk??! Tony Shaloub is literally the last person in Hollywood I could see being caught up in an illicit hooker operation

  29. Sounds like SOA. The main subplot was that they were running a brothel. I noticed that as the series went on, the casting got rougher, more "authentic" with the extras. Definitely rehab types. Sam Crow is the big hint.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I like SOA but I was initially thinking Charlie Sheen and two and a half men.

  31. But the guy wasn't on the show all the time they said and David Duchovny was the star and Piven was a HUGE presence on Entourage. Duchovny was in every scene though. ENTOURAGE was based on true antics so maybe that makes sense? Turtle wasn't an actor before the show. I don't really know.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Don't buy True Blood because the big boss was Alan Ball and as a gay man I kinda can't imagine him loving his best friend (and not sure who that would eve be) peppering the show with extras in lingerie. THIS doesn't work for the mood of ENTOURAGE though.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Can't find anyone who was fired from SoA except Scott Glenn before the first episode aired, no reason given. Maybe it was someone who was killed off without any press about being fired?

    ReplyDelete
  34. SOA would be the only fit for basic cable.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Isn't Charlie a supposed germaphobe?

    ReplyDelete
  36. So was Ron Perlman caught up in all this biker-based debauchery?

    ReplyDelete
  37. @Lonely Bastard What's the podcast? Sounds interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  38. SOA because of the crow eaters mention. And the fact that they had a lot of extras. A lot of women playing crow eaters.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Piven.I know someone who worked on that show.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have a love/hate relationship with Ron Perlman. Since Quest for Fire and Name of the Rose, he's a good character actor - but what a ham!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Why are people still guessing other shows? The crow eaters clue clearly points this as being SOA...

    ReplyDelete
  42. I'm going to go with SOA as well, but I don't think the person with the complaints is a professional actor or musician because most actors or musicians would have jumped at the chance of being on a hit show. My guess is one of the various members of the Hells Angels that had reoccurring roles on the show Sonny Barger, Rusty Coones, Chuck Zito, or David Labrava. They would have the ability and pull to shake down porn stars for a percentage, and they would surely have access to porn stars and recovering junkies/tweakers.

    ReplyDelete
  43. @TC

Good guess! I bet you're right.

    ReplyDelete
  44. WAIT- Sonny freaking Barger is alive? Mind blown...
Stupid universe! We were supposed to keep HST. Not Sonny Barger.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Looking into it further...

Sonny Barger wasn't used after S5.

Rusty Coones was in the last 2 seasons

Chuck Zito was only in S5

David Labrava was in all seasons except for S7 (so he could have been fired.)

Sounds to me like this is Labrava. Could be Barger but he was pretty old.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Labrava was the technical advisor to the show from inception I think through the end, so that's probably the most likely candidate. He's in his 50s now, so not as old as Sonny Barger, who is like 80.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Sons of Anarchy
    1) Crow eater-that's pretty specific
    2) Big cable hit for many years. That's not Entourage.
    3) "They felt it was part of the theme of the show and it was authentic if they did it."Which is why people are saying Entourage but points 1 and 2 negate that. Also, remember that SOA had a porn studio.
    4) Hire porn stars. I remember one episode of Entourage specifically had a porn star in it having sex with a character so fair enough, that muddies the waters.
However the blind says they just lurked in the background for this show and didn't really 'appear' in it.
    5) "bring women who were recently incarcerated or in rehab to the set." Yup that definitely checks out with the strung out biker chick look of SOA but definitely not Entourage.

No idea who the individuals in the blind are though.

    ReplyDelete
  48. "So, the person with all the complaints was on the show sometimes. He was on it more often than he was credited. He didn't really care about being on the show. He liked what he did behind the scenes on the show. His best friend in life was the big boss of the show. Probably how he got to stay on the show long after he should have been fired".

Labrava was in quite a few episodes, and in the latter part of the show he moved from more of a supporting character, to a major one. The other three seem to fit the bill a little better.

The only other actor I could think of would be Johnny Lewis, but his issues had more to do with substance abuse and mental illness

    ReplyDelete
  49. Absolutely SOA💯
