ReplyDeleteShe's probably invested in the company too. Smart cookie, kinda evil too. Google had a staff revolt over developing this tech. China is going to turn their country into a dystopia with facial recognition.

Oh, THIS is what Google staffers had a revolt over? They have been committing Facebook-level crimes against their users for YEARS.

ReplyDeleteFacial recog tech is here to stay, a lot of airports are running beta tests of this tech for paperless travel. Not only China, its being done all over the world!
ReplyDeleteTaylor used facial recognition software at a concert to weed out stalkers. If they looked at a kiosk in the venue, it scanned their face and ran the picture through a database. That's what Enty's getting at.

ReplyDeleteBut retailers are going to buy into this in a big way, soon. In some places shoplifting is so out of control--because many county attorneys simply won't prosecute it--that the stores have to do something to keep the theives out. Get trespassed at one store--an order to stay out--and the bad guy won't be able to walk into a store two states away.
I'd expect private companies to sell databases of known shoplifters to retailers also. If nothing else, employees get alerted to the presence of the thief and can hang all over them.

NSA, Homeland security. Local P.D. her and Jacky Cheung are both using it. Facial recognition isn't that hard to do. If you have ever posted a photo on several different pages it can all be looked up with a reverse image locator program. Google has 9ne you can use for free. There are some better ones that can give you the Geo location down to a one mile radius. It's why I will never post a photo of myself. I have way too many friends in Silicon valley that get to play with new toys.

This will be standard procedure at most major public events in the very near future. Swift is just ahead of the curve and probably invested in the company behind it.
