Today's Blind Items - In The Shadows

Despite its proximity, this person has never wanted the glow of fame. At one point in time, she was the most famous name in the world. It was brief, but she was there for all the world to see. Since then, she has been in the shadows. Her last name is A+ list. It is recognized by generations of people. In today's society, people still recognize it, but not to the extent it was once held. Across Europe and the rest of the world outside North America, people still know it. She is at a level of riches that most people can't comprehend and has been that way her whole life. People assume she has nothing to do with the sprawling empire of her money, but they would be wrong. She recognizes how her family made their fortune and follows that same philosophy today. Because she moves in such rarefied circles, no one would dare question her about the activities of her companies and how they traffic people from one continent to Europe through the same routes used by her ancestors. That is how they made their money. No one would question she was in charge of a huge drug smuggling route between South America and Europe, again using many of the same trade routes her family has used for generations. In the last couple of years there was a hiccup in her shadow plan. She was forced to briefly emerge from the shadows. She will never forgive a certain person for doing that and he will end up dead. No mystery about it. He will be murdered. No trying to make it look like something else. When the time is right, his throat will be slashed or he will be gunned down. No one crosses her.

  5. @Tricia, dont they have a reality show or something? They are also regulars on the DM, so its probably not them! But i have no clue who emerged from the shadows recently? Someone from the Rothschild family?

  8. Onassis sounds like a good guess, a shipping magnate fits the blind.

  9. I was thinking onassis’s granddaughter but I like the ecclestone guess. She lives a quiet life in London and her stupid exhusband was not discrete-loud flamboyant

  11. "At one point in time, she was the most famous name in the world." Are any of these ringing that bell?

  12. I was thinking of Onassis too, but doesn't she enter horse competitions? Which can be quite public.

  13. Dena has the best so far, Imelda Marcos is the most famous, if only because of all those damn shoes ;)

  14. Onnassis fits because of the multi generation and other continents.

  16. At one time Onnassis was the most famous name in the world, courtesy of it being linked to that of Jackie kennedy! Also they are an old family with money and power!

  17. Athina Onassis fits the blind. Her ex challenged the prenup and demanded alimony. (Her ex was cheating on her for 8 of the 11 years they were married.) While she still competes in show jumping events, she's always been involved somehow. I don't think it's widely discussed outside of the equestrian circles.

  18. There's also been plenty of stories over the years linking Aristotle Onassis to the international heroin trade.

  19. Not Stephanie, she dated Rob Lowe and had a music "career" for God's sake.

  20. I like the Athina guess. She was always assumed to live a private life and wanting to be away from the limelight.

  27. Patti Hearst?

Her last name is definitely A+ list thanks to William Randolph Hearst and When she was kidnapped she was certainly "the most famous name in the world."

    ReplyDelete
  28. I think it is a European because of this line in the blind...

"Across Europe and the rest of the world outside North America, people still know it."

    ReplyDelete
  29. Athina Onassis was never "most famous name in the world."
Patty Hearst was, briefly, when she was kidnapped

  30. It's Athina Onassis
Last name is permanent A+ and she was only talked about briefly after her mom died because she is Onassis only heir.
married Brazilian professional showjumper and two-time Olympic medalist Álvaro de Miranda Neto - big time cheater
they divorced finally in 2017 after a couple of years of disputes that he drug through the courts in several countries
Other than that - she keeps to herself. Does her horse thing which is a "rarified" circle which is the only time she is in "public".

    Sounds like he deserves it...
    just sayin

  31. @Unknown
Hearst = kind of famous in U.S. - regular people only know the name mostly because Patty was kidnapped
Onassis = famous around the world. period.

  32. onassis was my first thought. ari did all kinds of shady shit. and the name fits because of jackie o.

  33. I don't think it's Onassis. I think the company is run by the board and she's always had a volatile relationship with them. They hated that she couldn't and wouldn't learn Greek when she was younger. All she cares about is horses. I think they give her money for her horses and it keeps her happy and out of their hair.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Athina Onassis and her Ex-husband, Doda. She has the psychopath stare and he had the audacity to take a horse she claimed as her own. The fight has been public and she lost. I'm surprised he's not already dead. No one crosses her and it's in her eyes. Grandpa would be proud of her.

  35. @Post Cards, looks like The Foundation got about half of the old estate, Athina got the rest. So what has she been doing with the rest?

    ReplyDelete
  36. 33 does seem a little young to lead a slavery and drug empire, like what's the point? Just cash out and live like a queen.

" No one would question she was in charge of a huge drug smuggling route between South America and Europe, again using many of the same trade routes her family has used for generations."

"Eventually he established his first shipping trading company in Buenos Aires, Astilleros Onassis. After gaining his first fortune in Argentina, he expanded his shipping business worldwide and relocated to New York City, USA, where he built up his shipping businesses empire while keeping offices in Buenos Aires and Athens."

    1. Tradition? Following in the family’s footsteps? Retaining power? Who knows. But I know if my family had built something of that magnitude I would’ve wanted to run it (legit and non slavery/drugs of course). The rich are amoral and honestly I think they’re satanists/demon possessed, or something along those lines. So that may be another factor in the willingness to keep this type of thing going.

  40. I used to read a lot about her, I've always found her story so sad. I remember reading about her mother in the tabloids when I was a kid. The money, assets were always in a trust for her. Her father was a grifter toy boy who fought with them throughout her childhood and then fought with HER after she came of age. He hated everything Greek and it rubbed off on her. I think she considered herself Swedish or some other nationality. They raised a huge hissy fit that she didn't learn Greek, refused to for many years. The only time she ever came around was when it suited her and she tried to enter the Olympics for equestrian sports for Greece. I hate to say it but her parents were not the sharpest tools in the shed and it seems she's kinda the same. Very vapid. She sold almost all the Onassis family's real estate, even her mothers personal jewelry....she really has made it her goal to remove herself from that legacy. She became boy crazy obsessed like her mom with her equestrian coach who is the exact copy of her dad and has been throwing ALL of her money into the sport. She has a huge event that bleeds money. They even say she isn't worth even a billion anymore. She spends multimillionaire to purchase one horse and then millions taking it all over the world competing. I would love to hear from someone really knowledgeable in the sport to see if she's even any good, it doesn't seem to be the case. Just a total vanity project. So no, I don't think she's involved at all with the shipping business.

    1. You can be good in equestrian events if you spend the right amount of money. Like anything involving judges, they can be bought and these things are rarely fair or judged on merit. It’s all EXTREMELY expensive to compete at that level. I considered it for a while but realized I couldn’t put that kind of burden on my parents. I stopped following that world a long time ago so I honestly don’t know how good of an equestrian she is, or if it’s all $$ and hype.

I do remember reading about her in the Enquirer and feeling so, so sad for her. All that money but a horrible home life. I knew that husband of hers was bad news. Why marry a man with kids? It’s not worth it. Anyway I will always root for her. Poor sad little thing, is how I always viewed her.

  42. What's the point of a staggeringly wealthy woman staying in the shadows to run a dangerous drug/people smuggling business if she is the end of the family line? No kids, no nieces or nephews, just the taxman at the end.

    * Aristotle's father (Socrates) was a successful shipping entrepreneur in (what is now) Turkey
    * Aristotle moved to Argentina at 17, making his first fortune importing English-Turkish tobacco

  45. This could be a gr8 script to introduce the world to a female Bond. Just think, we have shadowy player who has made a male to be the front for the organisation. When Bond catches up to him and kills him, suddenly she steps out of the shadows and shoots him, and jlt 007 is dead. A rookie mi6 agent sees this as an opportunity to make a name and infiltrates the org. And when she finally shoots the real boss, she asks-who are you. The answer- The name is BOND, Jaime BOND! Roll credits!

  46. The drug business would run itself, and I imagine she literally can't stop it without a revenge move from the long line that have their hand out. Onnassis fits best.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I agree with Athena Onassis. Even when I was younger I remember the tabloids always talking about her being one of the richest little girls in the world.

And I guess the "human trafficking" was thrown in because "drug trafficking"

  55. Goddammit. This is a blind about someone who vastly and knowingly profits from trafficking people and makes her out to be some sort of dramatic Queen of the South bullshit cutthroat all in a shadow plan huff about having to "emerge" from behind her veil of secret international nonsecrecy. Someone should put this dramatic slaver chipmunk out of our misery and in a Mexican prison where she belongs.

  57. Onasis is my guess. She WAS truly famous here after her mother's death. Most of us now-baby-boomers remember and followed it religiously. It was THEE talk of every "water cooler." Daily. Intriguing. But the last generation wouldn't even know who she is/was.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It's supposed to be Athina, but no. She was raised far away from her mother's family - by her gold digger airhead father & the mistress he had while married to her mother. All she does is horsey stuff. And like the other poster said, chase horrible men like her mom.

    ReplyDelete
  59. The Onassis girl.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Going with Onassis. The name was once the most famous because of Jackie. Athina has been rich her whole life. Aristotle was a vulgar man who made some money legitimately but was not above being a trafficker. In fact, read that at one point in his early life that he earned money getting women for brothels.

    ReplyDelete
  61. The millenials are shouting "Onassis!" Just to jump on a wagon. Do you know anything at all about the Onassis dynasty?

If you have no intelligent input ....

    ReplyDelete
  62. I was also thinking Athina Onassis. She was all over the tabloids when I was a kid. She never really grew into her odd features. But it doesn't matter because she's rich.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I only one other Patty Hearst guess?

"At one point in time, she was the most famous name in the world. It was brief, but she was there for all the world to see."

    ReplyDelete
  64. I don't think this is an American family, since extreme American dynastic wealth doesn't survive generations. I always thought Jackie Kennedy married Ari Onassis because he was the only person in the world who could protect her, thanks to his vast underworld dominions. So the Onassis girl makes more sense than a Hearst or a Hilton or a Vanderbilt. But if she's an American, then perhaps she's a Rockefeller, a family that was tight with the Pahlavis. Two of the shah and the shabanu's three children reportedly killed themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Gloria Vanderbilt or the Onassis chick... I thought Vanderbilt at first because of ties to human trafficking etc but don't know about the man who she will be killing. Who is the man?

    ReplyDelete
  66. I say Onassis from the clue in the first sentence. The glow possibly referring to her Olympics and glow from torch.

  67. Blue Pedal — Nope, you’re not the only one. Hearst was my first thought, too.

  69. Does anyone know why she does not speak to her father? He martied CV that Swedish lady and that's the last I've heard.

    ReplyDelete
  70. How could this possibly be anyone but Athina Onassis? Everything fits, even the trafficking of people which is easily done (and happening as we speak) to Greece (via Turkey) and follows through the rest of Europe.
The South American connection, the shipping routes (hello!), the most famous name in the world (Onassis was known everywhere), the multi generational fortune, the quiet life away from the spotlight....

    It can't be anyone else.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I also think when he says "she was the most famous name in the world", I believe he means her last name, which WAS incredibly famous when Jackie married Aristotle.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Ghislaine Maxwell, she is a ghost.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Imelda Marcos fit great for the first half of it (I'm 41 and a Clive James tv piece made her super-famous at one point on my youth) and has been back in court recently (or her cases has) but doesn't really tie in with the trade routes from South America to Europe part as far as I can see.

That sounds more like someone with ability to transport via Central America> Caribbean> Europe or South America/ North Africa/ Europe. Onassis certainly has the right background for that with the family shipping business. I don't know enough about the super-rich to throw names in really. It also says they are more famous in the rest of the world rather than the US so I'd guess European/Middle Eastern/North African and part of major business and/or royalty/politics. Doesn't narrow it down that much really. Onassis sounds best guess.

    ReplyDelete
  74. The Khashoggi family?

    ReplyDelete
  75. This has to be someone European and extremely wealthy.

If I read it correctly, this is someone whose ancestors were slave traders on the Africa-Europe route and commerce traders on Americas route.

This is really similar to the old Lyndon LaRouche conspiracy theory that the Queen is the head of the international drug trade via the old East India Company.

It could be a Rothschild, but that smacks of so many anti-semitic Con-theories that it's to obvious. Plus the Rothschild's made their money on loaning money, not selling people.
