Blind Item #13

This married A list reality star if you watch her show and D list if you don't, is also an author who is pushing a new book. She spent Valentine's Day with a girlfriend because her husband wants a divorce. It is kind of shocking because even as recently as last week, I thought they were on pretty solid ground.

    1. No they didn't have a relationship with him. They were extras on Empire
I don't trust the stories but let's not spread fake info

  6. Aqua girl--two Nigerian bros, one of whom worked on Empire, both work out at Jussies gym....police supposedly found ski masks, red cap and bleach in their home? What kind of dumbasses would keep all of the evidence in their home for weeks? Did they plot vs or with Jussie?

    1. I read it early today and was like-look at Jussie being all dialed in with that cult of Nigerian/MAGA supporters๐Ÿ™„

    2. They’re seriously doing a Gay Niggers from Outer Space meme.

    3. It's winter which is why they have a ski mask, they like a clean house or about to wash a load of whites is why they have bleach, but I don't understand why anyone has a MAGA hat.

  9. @Vita, I'm not convinced by most of the evidence. Bleach is a common household item and red is a common Chicago Bulls cap color. Not sure on the ski masks though, but let's be honest, it's Chicago.
What would be more interesting is what led police to the two men. Did they tell someone or was there a witness? Did Jussie not recognize that the two assailants were African or African American, or was that left out of all the reports?
That is a good point though, if it was all a hoax orchestrated by Jussie, police may have found the two men by seeing who he had been in contact with.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Brayson- good points...some claiming hoax bc he feared he was being written off show.producers made very distinct statement saying central character, absolutely no plans to write him off (i thought it was odd that they werent defending their actor vs the allegation, rather than just stressing their intentions).

Im still dont want to believe he was involved, and perhaps this was just some personal vendetta? Even on Robin Roberts interview yesterday, he said the men on the video were definitely the suspects. Police somehow traced them from transportation records? They are pretty convinced it is these two, as they intercepted them at airport returning from out of the country. I thought they had found a hot sauce bottle that smelled of bleach in trash of area by attack? As you said, most homes have bleach. One of the bros has been on Empire more than ten times. It will indeed be interesting to see how this plays out.

  11. I have a feeling this will be one of those stories of incredible outrage that just fades away as the facts become known. Right now the mainstream media is confronted with it either being a hoax or an example of homophobia within the black community, two subjects they avoid discussing at all costs.

  12. There's a photo of one of the guys that was arrested working out at the gym in Smollett's building.

  13. I totally believe that Jussie set the whole thing up. Chicago PD trying to figure out how to handle it and I’m sure getting pressure due to the upcoming election.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @Brayson: Jussie was asked for phone records when he refused to show cops his phone. After 2 weeks, he finally submitted a pdf file that was heavily redacted. PD had already subpoenaed his phone records (unbeknownst to him), so they just compared the two & focused on the numbers that he had redacted. He led the cops right to them. Apparently he wasn’t on the phone with his manager either.

  15. Brayson...add the buzzword "immigrants" to the list, and I think all of them are hoping to sweep it away, too! Disgruntled employee just shot up his suburban workplace and the national state of emergency are already pushing it from headline status here.

Aquagirl-- the PD is definitely doing a delicate dance in all of their statements!!

Nigerians are extremely homophobic as a rule. Of course these guys were "actors and models" so they could have been more open minded about such things. I did not think it was possible for the Jussie Smollett story to get any stranger, but here we are.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Vita: He originally said the assailants were Caucasian. That Robin Roberts interview was ridiculous. He is not a convincing liar.

The 2 guys were traced through Jussie’s phone records as I stated above. They took a Lyft to Jussie’s neighborhood the night of the incident which was tracked by phone #. Also, rope was bought at an Ace Hardware which was also traced.

JS has hired Weinstein’s Crisis Management firm which tells you that he’s not innocent. The hot sauce bottle was a plant. The person who discovered it is a NY Post reporter who apparently is also on the payroll of the Crisis Mgmt. firm. The walls are closing in.

Idk if you’ve seen pics of the 2 Nigerians but they’re huge! They would’ve beat the shit out of him if this attack was real. Instead, he just had a minor scratch on his cheek (and still managed to hold on to his Subway sandwich.) Please!

  19. My mind was made up when I saw a clip of his interview. When he says I am angry, there is a big smile on his face. Nope, not telling the truth. Very fishy. The evidence seized in the raid confirms it.

  20. @Lulu: Not sure if you saw the entire list of evidence. It includes postage stamps & a magazine (presumably with some words & letters cut out.) That falls under the FBI investigation. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  25. Are these Nigerians brothers?

Because AJ Benza (who said today on his podcast he's a regular reader of the comments here - What about ye, AJ, ya oul hallion ye) has speculated that Smollet tried to hit on some guy in a bar but got skelped a wheeker outside by the guys irate boyfriend. If these two are not brothers but a couple then that might explain all this.

    Belfastspeak to non gibberish dictionary.

'What about ye, AJ, ya oul hallion ye' = 'Hello, AJ, you desperate old rascal.'

'Got skelped a wheeker' = 'Received a punishing blow'.

  26. @Aqua, if he was dumb enough to call them on his own phone before hoaxing an attack, wow. He must be on drugs or seriously stupid.

  27. AJ's take on the situation feels right -- like JS hit on some guy and his lover got mad. A hook up gone wrong. I knew his story was fishy when a) he's walking around 2 AM at night for a Subway sandwich. Grub Hub/Uber Eats deliver faster and easier than if you get it yourself. You go out at 2 am at night for a hook up, drugs or to get booze. And not even to get booze, they have delivery service for that, too. So that leaves a hook up or drugs. That's it. b) it was super cold that night, like below zero. He said they poured bleach on him. Bleach freezes at 17-18 degrees Fahrenheit. That was his biggest flub! Where is the eye roll emoji?

    1. To be fair, Tinder/Grindr are faster than going to a bar to find a hook-up too.

  29. Scandi -- if it were Southern California, I would totally concur. Do you live in a place that has sub-zero temps? Not only do you have to bundle up, it actually *hurts* to breathe. And it's dangerous. So I don't buy the "fresh air" argument.

  33. @Freebird: I think it had to do with the show & his music career. His LA concert had barely sold any tickets—the venue holds 400–then sold out after the ‘attack’, and he has an album dropping in March. I also think that it was motivated by his absolute hatred of Trump. Sort of killing 2 birds with one stone.

@Brayson: I never heard of the guy before, so not sure about the drugs but he comes across as seriously stupid and has from day one.

@Vic, @Christina: The 2 guys are brothers. I had heard the ‘irate lover’ as well as the ‘Grindr hookup’ theories early on, but now it’s seeming as though he just set the whole thing up for publicity.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I agree -- it's best not to spread stories. It will be so interesting to hear what the final final is, like if one of these brothers talks about what really was going on. A setup or a disagreement from work carried into the night.

  35. Update: The 2 brothers were released tonight without charges.

  36. Actor can’t tell the difference between 2 giant, Nigerians he knows...
And 2 white guy Americans he doesn’t know...saying “MAGA country” while supposedly kicking his ass...
    Sure.

Frankly...if it was a publicity stunt...I guess it worked because I had no idea who Jussie Smollett was before.
Now I just wanna know, who names their kid that? Want a different name, fine. Don’t choose a near miss for a regular name and call yourself creative.

I expect this story will just fade away, despite the fact that it deserves exposure.

    ReplyDelete
  37. So, the Nigerian bros were arrested then released...does that mean they talked? Seems odd that they were arrested after weeks of investigation only to be let go so quickly.

Great,GS, we seem to have escaped a legit hate crime, only to have the knuckleheads of the the interwebs keeping things as offensive as possible๐Ÿ˜’

  38. Sadly his story made no sense from the beginning. NO ONE goes strolling at 2a in Chicago with temps possibly below freezing. I don't know what he was playing at but this will hurt him more than help him.

  40. @Vita: The Nigerians were in custody since Wed. night. So they either had to be charged or released after 48 hrs. They most likely flipped during interrogation, hence the CPD statement that they were released based on new evidence.

Jussie hired criminal lawyer Michael Monico (Michael Cohen’s lawyer), so while CPD keeps saying that he’s still being treated as a victim, that’s clearly not the case. He’s lawyering up for a reason. This is not going away, nor should it, although the next announcement will probably be that JS is going to rehab for mental health issues.

    ReplyDelete
  41. FYI Zero degrees Fahrenheit is nearly minus 18 degrees centigrade.

JS went out in minus 18C for a "stroll".

  43. Thanks for the update, Aquagirl! Yep, Ive been sensing an "emotional exhaustion" therapy leave, too, but it would have been more sympathetic BEFORE all the cards were played. 46. Smollett should have found someone much smaarter to help him do this. Extras from his own show, who he apparently follows on Twitter? Really dude? We deserve a better hoax. This one is just insulting.

    ReplyDelete
  47. He's a piece of crap for trying to incite more hatred and divisiveness. I hope his career is over, and I'm going to be happy when his ass is arrested. Shithead. I hope I'm wrong. I hate believing people are shit. But if he really did make this up, he's a real shit.

    ReplyDelete
  48. He'll get away with it, he’s a double protected class and therefore can never face repercussions for his actions.

    ReplyDelete
  49. It's black history month. He just got nominated a few days ago for Man of the Year by the NAACP, His mother was a prominent activist. He received a hate letter at work with a noose on it. He has a music video F.u.W. with a noose in it. He gets attacked with a noose

I used to think this was some kind of hook up gone wrong, or a beef with someone, and they made up a PR story.

Now, I am starting to think he staged this himself to actually make himself into some kind of civil rights hero. "The gay Tupac."

Love how he hired a MAGA lawyer though..

    ReplyDelete
  50. AND.....police want to question Jussie again. They think he orchestrated the whole thing and hired the two brothers. Dumb fuck. Really hope he goes to jail and does the amount of time that a perpetrator of a hate crime would do. Plus additional charges from the FBI for sending the letter. Wonder how ‘The Gay Tupac’ is feeling now?

    ReplyDelete
  51. AND . . . the media lies again.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Now his lawyers released a statement saying that he is devastated it was people he was familiar with, and that he feels further victimized by the accusations that he staged any part of it. Definitely trying to appeal to the court of public opinion and diehards, but with FBI and CPD being extra careful with the investigation, he should have caved early and ran to the nearest mental health facility.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Unbelievable. Before this happened, I didn't know who Jussie S was. (I don't watch network TV.) Now I wish I never knew who he was...

    ReplyDelete
  54. +1 @Vita, @Christina: Ummm, yeah, he said during his interview that he ‘definitely knew it was these 2 guys’, now he is surprised that they’re people he’s familiar with?

@Vita: I agree with your Ambien theory. It would’ve been more believable than anything he’s managed to say since then.

@Christina: I don’t watch network TV either & only followed this since I knew he was lying from Day 1. I’m always intrigued when I immediately sense that someone is lying.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Aquagirl--Your bullshit detector has been spot on from the beginning! I'd love for you to participate in the interrogation, he'd be forced to cave in record time!๐Ÿ˜Š

    ReplyDelete
  56. So the "little gay boy" didn't fight off his attackers, like he claimed as recently as the day before the White Nigerian Redneck Trump Supporters were arrested?

Reading the media you would think there is a race war going on in America. But the reality is, as much as Jussie wanted to be oppressed, he had to pay somebody to do it to him.

The new anti-lynching law was dead in the water, because assault, kidnapping, and murder are already illegal, but "bam!" Jussie claims he almost got lynched and the bill passes. Booker and Harris both sited Jussie's assault as a reason the legislation was needed.

Jussie needs to be convicted and sentenced under the new anti-lynching law; he made-up a lynching and needs to serve time for a lynching.
