Blind Item #4 - Grammy Awards

This A list everything in her own mind says someone made the decision to auto tune the hell out of her voice and use a key she has never used which is why the voice in the vocal track sounds nothing lik her. Uh huh.

  1. " A list everything in her own mind" is always JLo.

  2. LOL While I was watching it I kept saying they studio magic'd the hell out of that track she was lip singing.

  3. Who’s bright idea was it to have Jlo do a Motown tribute anyway. Only lip syncing could save her

  4. J-Lo, of course. Also, did anyone else catch how horrible Katy Perry sounded live?

  5. Who is supposed to be her ghost singer? If one is not actually singing or writing songs or playing a musical instrument, are they really a musician? Milli Vanilli was just ahead of their time.

  6. Wasn't there a blind about J.Lo and her ghost singer in the early days of CDAN?

  7. People often say the only thing J.Lo is really good at is dancing, but not even her dancing impresses me that much tbh. Shaking your ass is not dancing.

  8. When the whole thing about Milli Vanilli came out, I was like WHO CARES? It's not like I liked them for their singing. RIP Rob. Fab 4ever!

  9. Hahahahahahahaha - J Lo. Please.

I have been listening to "What's Luv", and Ashanti is definitely who sang for J Lo. A lot of J Lo's songs sound like her speaking voice, but I could really hear how Ashanti would be the one who'd sing for her on her tracks.

  10. +1 Paris, I think there was a recent blind about Ashanti saying something about it.

  11. @Krab - right??

    JLo = MV

    Video Music Awards

This one named former A list singer got cut off by the network when she started talking about her big truth about singing songs the A list everything in her mind has always taken credit for.

    Ashanti/Jennifer Lopez

  13. LOL! She was the biggest diva seriously a bitch. Before she was huge. My ex filmed and opening for Vh1 fashion awards back in the day and I helped out. There were six people in the room and she never once said hello to me . She was nothing about how her boots had to be tightened, “cause I paid big money and I want them right, ok”

  14. Brayson, I had a hard time believing for a long while because in so many of her songs, J Los speaking voice is the same as her singing voice. But listening to "What's Luv" with earbuds, I could really hear how Ashanti is the singer....

  15. Agree Paris. She is not singing the hook on I’m real. I don’t care what she says.

    ReplyDelete
  16. @Paris, J Lo rode the real Selena's corpse into stardom, she was nothing before that movie, nothing but lies afterwards.

    1. @brayson This... Also I have thought the same as well.

  17. JLO is just proof that with a very mediocre talent but an extreme work ethic and diet control you can have a career thats way more than you deserve. but one has to give her credit as far as her hustle goes

    ReplyDelete
  18. +1 DJS Nola. She is also walking proof that if you are beautiful enough, you can make people believe that you are this amazing talent despite being a complete bitch and being boringly mediocre at everything.

The woman is gorgeous. Probably one of the few who looks better as she ages. But really all she can do is dance, and she doesn't even really dance anymore. She hasn't since she was a fly girl.

  19. The real reveal on MV is the real singer. Will Ashanti someday get her due? Or does JLO have to confess?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Brayson, have you ever seen the movie "Out Of Sight", with J Lo and George Clooney?
I will give her props for that movie. It is so good, the whole cast was excellent.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @paris, It was a while ago, I wasn't impressed but I didn't bother finishing the movie so I won't bag on it. She didn't make much of an impression from what I saw.

  22. I'm never gonna understand why
Jennifer Lopez is even a "thing".
She looks like half the women in Miami. Lopez absolutely is -not- a vocalist

    ReplyDelete
  23. She just needs to create her own Goop type empire aimed at a younger, hipper, less white crowd and give up her entertainment career forever. Yes, you're almost 50 and hotter than most 20 year olds but that's not going to hold for another 10 years so cash in now.

  24. "What's Luv" is sung by Ashanti. It is her song with Ja Rule. J Lo is not on that song. Ashanti sang on "I'm Real"

    ReplyDelete
  25. Is it possible that they mixed the good singer's voice and J Lo's at the same time?

    ReplyDelete
  26. @gossblogger, that's how most do it, but JLO was said to not sing at all on the first record. I think later records mixed her voice in.

    ReplyDelete
  27. So...what’s her excuse for THAT GINORMOUS FUGLY HAT?!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Alright, she was a helluva actress in the early to mid 90's. Can't remember the title, but the plot revolved around a young woman escaping domestic violence. There were a couple others as well (bad with titles). Like most stars from that era to now, she worked hard at her craft, and shows up now. Like Pitt, Clooney, & Depp. Girl has wicked hustle, and is dedicated to her brand. And that costume for the Grammy's was pure, subdued drama with her RBF. She might be a bitch, but she has earned every thing she has. And no, I'm not really even a fan. I just respect her work ethics.

    1. I respect her work ethics, but not that fucking hat!!!

  29. Another thing, the early MV blinds said the real singer didn't "have the look". Ashanti is very attractive, and a good presence in videos. Maybe another singer besides her.

  30. Didn't the real singer die?

    1. I thought so too but then why not reveal? Enty was her lawyer,or so he says. He may be speaking for someone else.

  31. Ashanti being a "ghost singer" for the "A-list everything in her own mind" celeb makes since. Ashanti stills leads a fabulous, glamorous life despite not having sold records in a while and being unable to sell tickets to her shows. Someone is paying her way on a continual basis. I just wonder where or who the money is coming from. I mean Toni Braxton sells out show and has a reality show and has had to file for bankruptcy like 3 or 4 times. It just doesn't add up.

JLo's prior ghost singer passed away which is why she stopped putting out music for a long time. I believe Ashanti is her new ghost singer which is why she's trying to "justify" the vocal change. A good singer can adapt and change their voice for sure (you don't sing jazz or pop the same way you would opera, for example) but you will *always* have a certain vocal coloring and weight that is unique to your voice alone. Voices have specific ranges and "registers" that go with that vocal range, but they also have weight classes.

*Warning! Nerdy Musical Stuff Ahead!* A soubrette or spinto soprano is a very light voice that is capable of hitting those higher notes at softer pitches almost effortlessly, while a Mezzo Soprano (middle voice) or Lyric soprano is going to sing those same high notes at a much heavier "weight" in their voice. Same thing with voices in pop music - you can repackage your voice any way you like but in the end, if you naturally sound like Rihanna, you're not going to suddenly start churning out pieces where you're hitting super soft whistle-register vocals like Mariah Carey or Ariana Grande. The voice doesn't work like that, especially if we are talking some one like JLo here.

An Edwards - I believe that movie was "Angel Eyes" with Jim Caveziel :)
