Blind Items Revealed #5

February 5, 2019

The studio and the singer/actress are dumping nearly $500K in ads not only in the trades and billboards but also a series of articles in the weekly tabloids praising the singer/actress, but more importantly the ad buy prohibits any mention of the two other major competitors.

Lady GaGa/Glenn Close/Olivia Colman

  1. It's nice they're stimulating the local economy, even it's ultimately pointless.

  3. A good few years ago I read the autobiography of the very funny comic actor and writer David Mitchell, from Peep Show (one of the funniest TV shows of the past twenty years, if you haven't seen it then please make the effort to do so, it's worth it and also on Netflix). He went to university with Olivia Colman - who also starred in Peep Show - & in his autobiography said that as soon as he met her at college and they started performing in university shows that he knew she was destined to be world famous and she is the most talented actress he has ever met or seen.

Bear in mind this was written before she was a big name even in the UK, she was still just a jobbing character and comic actress.

    1. Apparently she’s everywhere tho. Looked her up and apparently Olivia Colman’s in AT LEAST 4 things I’ve seen: “Locke”, “The Night Manager”, “The Lobster”, and an Agatha Christie film.

I keep consfusing her with the lady from “Spooks”.

  7. I love Olivia in Broadchurch. That show needs more love. It's truly outstanding.

  8. I will watch anything with Olivia Colman!
Glenn broke my heart in The Wife-
Gaga is so thirsty she drooled all over the screen.

  9. I really need to give Broadchurch another try. I only watched the first episode or two and was bored out of my mind but I know a lot series take a while to really get going.

    1. I started believing in God again when Meryl Streep got nothing this year.

  11. Can't blame God for everything, he's probably too busy redirecting asteroids to keep an eye on what the ants are awarding each other.

  12. GoG is hanging in Yemen watching over starving babies. He tries to NOT get involved in awards shows and sporting events.

  14. Too bad Olivia Colman was impeccable in a horrible, pretentious movie.
But anyway, Glenn Close was the best one. She's flawless.
Gaga's acting is mediocre to say the least. She should be a little more humble - GENUINELY HUMBLE, not "only for cameras"humble.

  15. If you like Olivia Colman and/or David Tennant you should listen to his podcast where he interviews her.

  16. Freebird, season 2 should be out by the end of the year! I think they are in production right now. Phoebe Waller Bridge passed her showrunning duties on Killing Eve off to someone else for Season 2 so she could get Fleabag done.

  17. Now that I have watched all three films, I am somewhat surprised at my favorite. I have liked Olivia Colman ever since Broadchurch. Glenn Close has always been a favorite actress since "The Big Chill". I thought Lady Gaga was a joke until her duet album with Tony Bennett and then thought she might be interesting.

Now, the films. The Favourite is a not a favorite. Tedious and curiously unengaging. Colman has little to do but look addled or sick.

As Dorothy Parker might say, Close ran the emotional gamut from A to B. A Lifetime movie with a better cast.

I thought Gaga was good. Not great but good. If these are the choices, then its Gaga.

  18. Olivia for the win. If gaga wins the Oscar's will no longer be respectable. You shouldn't have to buy one. You need to win it fair and square.

  19. What an exercise in futility. There's no way Glenn isn't getting her long overdue Oscar this year.

  20. Close will win to a standing ovation during a wonderful Streep-less Oscar's
