  2. I want Bale and Ali. I will probably get Rami Malek and Ali.

  3. The Oscar voter quoted in the Hollywood Reporter's "Brutally Honest Oscar Ballot" says Rami has it locked up.

"[Bohemian Rhapsody's] Rami Malek is going to win — everywhere I've gone, Rami Malek was there; he's a very charming fellow. I've now spent more time with him than I have with my dog."

  4. Wishing for Bale and Ali but most likely it will go to Malek and Sam Elliott.

  5. Cooper and Ali. Really like Ali in True Detective. Cooper is obnoxious but he really was good in ASIB

    ReplyDelete
  6. I can't believe one-note Adam Driver is nominated for anything. Money CAN buy an Oscar nomination.

  7. It would be great to see good old Sam Elliott win something for once.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Rami and Ali... boring.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sadly Malek.
Rooting for Rockwell b/c he’s a great guy and Grant because it’s somlkng coming.
Ali will probably get it and he deserves it as well-fierce talent

  10. Still rooting for Willem Dafoe, who actually deserves it.

  11. Really don't care and haven't seen a new movie in years, but I guess the gay guy and the muslim guy since the winners have to be PC

  12. I saw the Richard E. Grant performance on a long airplane flight. He was fine, but basically playing the same role he always plays.

Sam Elliot was just stiff in A Star is Born. Not an Oscar-winning performance.

Everyone I know over age 65 loooooooved Green Book. Ali winning might be a way to award that film, which doesn't look like it's going to get Best Picture.

  13. obviously rami malek will win.

the Academy isnt known for doing the right thing - they literally gave the best director oscar to Polanski while he was in hiding in europe bc he didnt want to come back and get his prize and risk serving his sentence for the rape and sodomy of a 13 year old girl. things havent changed of course. adrien brody's situation reminds me a lot of Malek's.

Fox knows the Academy doesn't give a damn that Malek lied. And they certainly don't care about Bryan Singer.

Malek's lie will be on record forever. He already has his trophy in the bag, but what happens for the rest of his life I'm actually more interested in.

  14. Gee, someone in Hollywood lying. Shock surprise.

Will Meryl's lies about Harvey Weinstein follow her for the rest of her career?

What about Leo and Jho Low? Will Leo never get another chance at a good role?

I dont know how ancient you are, or if you've been paying attention, but there's a tide thats being changed - this old guard where people shrug off lies like this (and people like you), and the people (usually younger) that remember, point out, fight back, clapback, and do all the things you nutty has complained about on here before.

things change all the time with each generation coming into their own. people en masse continue to call out Meryl, how JLaw was one of Harvey's girls. I mean, you can huff and confidently say nothing will change.

But if anything generationally and historically has been shown - you're wrong - and there's nothing you can do about as you shuffle to your death while the humans newer than you take over.

  16. Malek will win. I would pick Dafoe.

Ali will win and I don't really have an opinion on that one...I haven't seen most of those yet. Elliott wasn't that great in ASAB although I do love him.

  18. Best Actor:

    Should Win: Christian Bale
    Will Win: Remi Malek

    Best Supporting Actor:

    Should Win: Sam Elliott
    Will Win: Sam Elliott

  19. @nutty

"Will Meryl's lies about Harvey Weinstein follow her for the rest of her career? What about JLaw??"

and to answer your question - yes, those bad things/lies/etc will follow their careers. you can deny that all you want - but they will, and they still are. Just because you're in your own little world and not paying attention to the sea change doesn't mean it isnt happening.

    *big hug* it'll be ok.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Blame fox, queen and the producers for singer, not the actor looking for a gig who has no power over the decision. Malek and Ali for the win. I'm loving him in true detective as well.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Viggo and Grant deserve the wins. They were both fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I doubt I'm in my "own little world."

I was on a transatlantic flight last week, on a European airline with a very good movie selection. Black Panther was on offer, A Star is Born, Can You Ever Forgive Me, Black Kkklansman, and Bohemian Rhapsody, plus about 50 other films, past and present, Western, Chinese, and Bollywood.

About halfway through the flight I went to the galley to get an orange juice, and as I walked back through the cabin in the dark I noticed that nearly everyone watching a movie was watching BoRap. People just love that film.

    ReplyDelete
  23. @Nutty

Nutty says: WOW OMG TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT OMG EUROPEAN AIRLINE OMG A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE WATCHING BORHAP OMG

Nutty means: there is no change, there will never be no change, there's isnt a change happening, everything is fine!

  24. Actor - hoping for christian Bale, but Rami will win for rhapsody.
Supporting Actor - hoping for either Rockwell, or Elliot, but Ali will win for Green Book.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Im talking about generational changes, evolving morals/perceptions and a general sea change but.....thats not true because LOOK AT MY FLIGHT OMG ALL THESE PEOPLE EVERYWHERE WATCHING BORHAP

yes sweetie, cause thats how time works. totally comparable to your flight.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Actor: Malek (should be Dafoe)
    Supporting: Ali (should be Grant)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Would like to see: Bale/ Rockwell

    ReplyDelete
  28. There will be change, but probably not the specific change you are hoping for.

BTW, claiming superiority based on a specific birth year is as dumb as claiming superiority based on gender or skin color. It makes you look foolish.

Bale and Vice will win for Best Makeup and Hair. But Vice wasn't seen much outside the coasts, and even the outlets that were politically aligned with its point of view didn't give it very good reviews. Also, Bale is a jerk who is not widely liked in Hollywood. I will be surprised if he wins.

  29. Rami did a good job but honestly I thought he was wooden and too young to pull it off well. Just my opinion as an old Queen fan.

    People are starving.
    Kids are missing.
    There are real problems.
    WHO CARES ABOUT BRADLEY COOPER.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I dunno. Rami is 37 years old, and Freddie was 45 when he died.

If you're going to play ages23 to 45, 37 isn't a bad place to do that.

FWIW Sacha Baron Cohen is 47. years old.

    ReplyDelete
  32. @Nutty

Nobody is claiming superiority based on a birth year. There ARE people like yourself that simply don't want change, or want it to be so small it doesn't make a difference. You laugh at the thought that newer generations can make a change, or try to hold people responsible. A lot of younger people use the internet for activism, like the metoo movement, and use it to clapback towards people who are used to no one giving a damn (like you). Thats been done with Bryan Singer, Meryl Streep, Malek, etc. I mean, feel free to laugh at it and think nothing specific will come of it.

I mean, you will be dead and progress will still happen. Sorry...? :-) :-)

    1. What about claiming superiority due to being a younger parent tho

  33. JFC Nutty, someone got triggered. Ranting and lecturing on a gossip blog post is as useful as nipples on a breastplate. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It is not an invitation for a point by point debate. This is not an echo chamber blog. Carry that shit to Huffpoor Salon.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Ha ha Huffpoor Salon. It’s a typo and it stays. Meet the new boss. Same as the old boss.

  35. I'll go with Malek and Driver.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Christian Bale / Sam Rockwell

    ReplyDelete
  37. I don’t care and it doesn’t matter, it’s all rigged. It’s all about who paid who and who had sex with who and who did unspeakable things with children in order to get parts. Hollywood isn’t going to be able to keep this under wraps for much longer... it’s all part of the great awakening...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Malek will win but Bale should.

Who knows on best supporting. It's one of the strongest fields for an Oscar category ever. Not really a wrong choice here.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I too think Rami's Oscar is bought and paid for.
My picks: Viggo Mortenson and Richard E. Grant.
Viggo was excellent in Green Book.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Who I think WILL win: Rami Malek and Sam Rockwell

    ReplyDelete
  41. +1 Sandybrook - Love Sam Elliott! He's the unsung hero of the supporting actor world.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I hope it's Malek and Rockwell. I don't get the hate for BR. Everyone I know who saw it enjoyed it.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Bale in an anti-cheyney vote by the loon commie hollyweirdos

Elliott in a lifetime acheivement award.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think Remi although I prefer Dafoe.
I prefer Elliot but I think Driver.

Bale in a dark horse so that they can politically pontificate.

How I wish these award shows stayed away from politics and social issues. People who make believe for a living do not influence me on any issues of import.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Christian Bale reminds me EXACTLY of my white trash cousin in Arizona. Can't ever take him seriously

    ReplyDelete
  46. Rami Malek he did a superb job ( didn’t see the William DeFoe Film)

Ali though he should have Ben nominated for best actor and not supporting. Could have given Rami and Bale a hard time.

YES! Blame Brian May, Roger Taylor and Graham King for hiring Bryan Singer and demanding that if Fox wanted the film they had to be ok with Singer. Fox should have the balls to say No even if it was woman exec.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Jon Bernthal - The Punisher

    ReplyDelete
  48. I want Bale and Ali

    ReplyDelete
  49. Re: what I just said-- Bale may be an asshat, but he IS a fuck of an actor. Ali, I haven't heard much about, but he too, is a fuck of an actor. Willem Dafoe by all accounts is a nice guy and great actor who deserves his due, but as per usual won't get it. And what is probably the biggest cash shower of all, they're having the actual group Queen open the show?!?! Can there be any question, folks?

    ReplyDelete
  50. Bale, Ali....at least I hope that's who wins

    ReplyDelete
  51. Does anyone else here have the hots for Sam Elliott? He is way too old for me but I’d do him in a second.

    ReplyDelete
  52. @ aquagirl out of the ten guys he would only come second to Viggo!! He is very hot.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Viggo and Mahershala.

With lots of money and PR crap thrown around? Rami and Mahershala, possibly Sam

    ReplyDelete
  54. @MD: I thought everyone reading would know that Viggo is a given. Yum.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Bale was flippin' amazeballs in that movie. He WAS Dick Cheney.

  57. Rami will win for the simple reason that he gave a very emotional performance. Americans relate to emotion and struggling through odds.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Pretty sure Rami Malek will win Best Actor. I really wish I could fast forward to two weeks after the damn Oscars just to have it finally over with. I swear the past three months have actually lasted a few years! Wake me when it’s over.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Did you see the list of Best Picture presenters?

Serena Williams, chef José Andrés, Queen Latifah, Diego Luna (from Narcos), Tom Morello (from Rage against the Machine), Amandla Stenberg, Trevor Noah, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, Congressman John Lewis (who will get a big standing ovation)...and Barbra Streisand.

So...Latifah and Streisand are the only two there who have been nominated for Oscars, correct?

It'll be interesting to see how they pair the presenters up with movies. I hope it's not as obvious as Luna with Roma, Morello with Vice, Lewis with Klansman and/or Green Book, Serena with Black Panther, Myers with BoRap, etc, but I fear it will be.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Streisand is going to introduce "A Star is Born", inevitably.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Who should: Bale/Rockwell
    Who will: Malek/Ali

    ReplyDelete
  62. don't give a flying fuck

We're currently witnessing the sunset of Hollywood.
Unless there will be dramatic change very soon, they will never ever recover. EVER.

    ReplyDelete
  63. What matters today is not whose peers voted to give them an award but who made the most money... I agree with @Infidel that the sun has set on Hollywood

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'm hoping for Willem Dafoe to take it.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Haven't seen ANY of these movies.

I see Malek as a one-hit-wonder with his turn as Freddy.

Too bad The Teeth weren't nominated for Best Actor.

I'd love to see Cooper and Ali, but I have a feeling it'll be Malek and Ali.
