Blind Items Revealed #2
March 20, 2019
Management of this streaming service is telling investors they will pay anything for a reboot not just for Friends, but they’re trying The Office, Frasier, Parks and Rec, and others. They know that if they don't do something in the next year or two, their viewership will be cut in half and the subscribers too when all those listed shows will be gone.

Netflix
Uuuuuuuuuuugh, I'm so tired of Netflix. It's mostly "original content" garbage.
ReplyDeleteWe dropped Netflix back when Netflix announced they were adding Susan Rice to the BOD. Amazon Prime and Prime Video had already made Netflix superfluous. We don't watch much television anyway.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about getting Netflix for a few months. Does everyone who has it like it, and do you watch on phone, tablet or PC?
ReplyDeleteTV
DeleteYou can watch it on any of those, I think. But I would not reccommend Netflix. I had it for less than 6 months and cancelled it cuz the shows I like were all being taken off in favour of more original content (usually of a dark nature when I want light-hearted humour.)
DeleteI don't watch old series on Netlix or Amazon. I really only watch their original content and maybe some movies that I didn't see in theaters. I barely watch anything on Amazon.
ReplyDeleteIf you buy all the streaming services trying to cut the cord, guess what you aren't saving much money after all. Another scam.

DeleteI love Netflix.
ReplyDelete@E - I actually love Netflix. There are a ton of tv shows that I never watched when they aired and I love most of their original content. I think it's worth it. But i agree with @Sandy that if you start getting all the subscriptions, you aren't saving any money. Plus in this area, without getting cable, the price of internet from the same provider goes up.
ReplyDelete@E, I've enjoyed it on all three, but prefer it on my big tv. You can stream or download Netflix stuff to watch offline. I know people who love it for traveling.
ReplyDeleteA Frasier reboot was in discussion months ago. KG is willing to do it, but I don't know what the status is on it.

ReplyDeleteWow lots of grumpy people hating on the Number One streamer. And that's number one as the first and still the best.
ReplyDeleteOriginally it was good for catching up on old series, but over the years they've amped up their original content to the point that the original content is what I look forward to most every week. Not on just on Netflix, but of all cable, HBO, broadcast, streamers, etc.
If censored sitcoms are your bread and butter then just get an OTA Tivo or Hulu. I prefer edgier stuff, like where people can cuss or whatever. HBO and Showtime used to have a monopoly on that, but their monopoly is gone, and most of their stuff is blah now (GoT excluded of course).
Amazon Prime shows promise, but they got hamstrung by their last genius team who only pushed arthouse crap, it'll take years before they can catch up with content most people like.
Hulu is nice for cord cutters, lots of current broadcast shows without commercials, otherwise though it's just a DVR alternative if you have cable, their original content isn't there yet.
We'll have to see what Disney+ is, but best bet is that it's kid's sh!t, good luck finding any foul language or anything racy on that.
We have Netflix and Hulu (and no cable tv). We have regular current shows that we watch on Hulu and then we watch stuff on Netflix when we are caught up.
DeleteTotally agree, @Brayson. I also prefer the edgier stuff, which is why I enjoy Netflix. I do like Prime and don't have Hulu although I might get it to see the Veronica Mars revival.
ReplyDeleteMeant to add, @E - I mostly watch Netlix on my amazon fire tv, but I do watch it (literally right now) on my kindle and sometimes on my laptop.
ReplyDeleteOh and I did cut the cord and saved money every month. And no f*cking commercials, not a single f*ckin' one. :)
ReplyDelete@Thia, Veronica Mars revival, that's great! Veronica and Logan had such great chemistry. And since it's on Hulu, a platform that might actually let Kristen Bell cuss, oh sweet baby jeez. Nothing is better than a foul mouthed Kristen Bell character, such a sweet symphony of profanity compared to that bullsh!t Disney crap.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore netflix
ReplyDeleteNetflix is not in a position to lose the rights for Friends (there's no reboot coming, by the way). They're ordering new seasons of Grace and Frankie, which is Marta Kauffman's current show, so they already have a privileged relationship with one of the key producers.
ReplyDeleteI love netflix..that is all we watch.
ReplyDelete@E, We watch Netflix mostly on our Smart TV, but watch it on the tablets/iPads when traveling through airports or long car trips. You can download a few hours of content to view w/o internet. We also bring a Roku for use in the hotel. The Roku is a good option if you want to watch Netflix on a regular TV at home.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite shows is the Crown. My kids also love their children's shows. I have not cut the cord yet, because each time I threaten to, DirecTV gives me a ridiculous big discount.
Do you watch netflix thru direct tv on roku? I thought direct tv was satellite and expensive plus a long term contract?
DeleteI know netflix will fail. I blame wall street though. I company is only valued at its income. If your contracts are good for a month then your value is the sum of users for the most recent month minus operating costs and employment wages. If the production studios side of it is what the investors are hoping will make them rich, how? They are just enabling them to become in debt. I am sick of them changing the home screen format too. I got out and old device just because i liked the way it presented choices. Also, online search has changed, less genre categories. I thought phone wasnt scrolling but nope that was it. I hated the new home screen and at least could online browse and add to my list.
ReplyDeleteI love Netflix and mainly watch it on my iPod at the gym...I can always find a series I like that I resign myself only watch there, so it has been a very good motivator! Amazon comes in second for me with Hulu at third, mainly because I find the interface a little tough to navigate (although it looks cool).
ReplyDeleteI like Netflix and Amazon prime/ acorn or britbox. I don't do hulu
ReplyDeleteHope Netflix brings me the second season of Dark before it folds
ReplyDeleteThanks all! I appreciate the info very much
ReplyDeleteNetflix isn’t going anywhere. Cable and network television is circling the drain. I’m cutting the cable cord after GOT
ReplyDeleteyeah, i cut the cord too and saving quite a bit ...you just don't subscribe to every single streaming service out there....I do Sling/Hulu/Netflix and i'm STILL saving...
ReplyDeleteLove Netflix. Worth every penny, would pay double gladly, considering how much I use it. I dropped cable years ago, it's a complete waste of money, and I will not watch anything with commercials. I was at a friend's home recently, and they had the TV on in the background, and it's horrifying how many of the ads were for prescription drugs.
ReplyDeleteNetflix and Amazon Prime are all I need. There's nothing I HAVE to see now, I haven't even bothered pirating anything in years.
I mainly watch Netflix and generally watch it on my I-Pad. Can’t remember the last time I watched regular TV. But with the package I have, it doesn’t really help to get rid of cable because I still need internet & the cost would go up for that.
ReplyDeleteLove netflix, original programming and golden oldies for those insomniac hours in the night. Nothing puts me to sleep faster than an old programme on netflix.
ReplyDelete@Unknown, Our Smart TV has built-in WiFi/ethernet and the Netflix app pre-installed. It's becoming standard on new TV's now. If you don't have a Smart TV, you can use a Roku box/stick to connect to Netflix.
ReplyDeleteDirecTV does initially require a contract, but once the contract period expires, you can go month-to-month or negotiate a renewal. I agreed to another 12 months for a heavy discount (over 50% & includes premium cable). It's more costly than Netflix, but my husband is not the most tech savvy (he's not originally from the Bay Area & does not work in tech), so their interface is more user-friendly for him. It depends on your situation.
Yeah my parents’ TV remote control has a Netflix button (AND a YouTube button).
DeleteIt’s a Samsung.
And it’s scary because I have an iPhone and an Android Samsung Galaxy and whenever I’m watching YouTube on the Samsung phone, it offers to connect with the TV.
Like if I press the notification by accident my parents can see what I’m watching upstairs 🤦🏻♀️🐈 (teh little secret agent in me would never allow such a thing). 😱😂🤣
Oh no, it’s not a Samsung sorry. It’s Sharp (the Japanese company). 🌸
DeleteI guess YouTube connects from my Samsung Android phone because YouTube is Google. Ah that makes sense.
DeleteIsn’t it scary when you can’t find the connection?
I like Amazon and HBO way more than Netflix. They have way better movies and documentaries.
ReplyDeleteHave Amazon Prime with a Fire TV, and basic cable and internet come with my apartment. Am thinking about getting netflix, but am watching a lot of Pluto TV channels. Don't have a dvr with basic cable, but want to record cable and amazon, any ideas? The over the air only recording devices don't help.
ReplyDeleteNetflix recently removed the last 2 series of Blackadder and I feel personally victimised haha
ReplyDeleteWhy anyone pays for any of this anymore, I just don't know. Get a Firestick, jailbreak it and get Kodi. All you need to pay for is a vanishing IP address and Real-Debrid, $50/year. People charge $80 to come to your house and do it for you, but you just need to google it.
