Blind Item #4

The studio wants to limit their damage and not have any more premieres overseas with this bomb of a movie. The director though, loves the premieres because he just considers them a sexual buffet of choices.

  4. Lately,every time Enty says a movie will bomb,it's a big hit!

  5. I dont know if Beach Bum was released internationally yet, but only 1.8 million in states, lowest of MM's career.

  6. Tricia, Captain Marvel is a hair away from crossing $1 billion world-wide . . . no, it is definitely not a bomb.

  7. Dumbo did a much smaller box office than anticipated. But it's hard to picture Tim Burton as sexual;

  10. Went to see "Dumbo" on Sunday.

I thought the film was Okay.
But, I left the theater thinking that it wasn't one of Tim Burton's best efforts.

  11. @ Tricia 13, no offense but are you KIDDING?????? Captain Marvel as critical MEH but has a bigger box office take (not sure if opening) than BLACK PANTHER) but it was MEGA and everywhere. No, not a source of embarrassment by ay means. I looked it up just know and a total of $455 million worldwide opening. I don't think so!

  12. To be fair to Marvel/Disney, their movies always suck but the public have been well-trained by now to just throw their cash at them anyway, without hesitation.

Looking forward to the actual Captain Marvel's film coming out this Friday. At least that one looks good.

  13. @Ubervation The box office numbers for Disney are not always big. Dumbo, Nutcracker, Wrinkle in Time, even Mary Poppins Returns. Stop with the dumb conspiracy theories.

  14. @Nathan - It's no conspiracy theory, Captain Marvel had multiple theatres that had tickets bought online in group bookings with no one showing up to fill the seats
It's Captain Bullshit I'm specifically referring to here in regards to lies about Box office figures.....
For all the bullshit that they put out about it there's no way they can let it fail

  16. "Matthew McConaughey's 'The Beach Bum' is the biggest box-office flop of his career and the worst of 2019 so far"

  17. I used to be a big Burton fan, but the truth is that he's f*cked up every movie he's made after Sleepy Hollow, and even that one is arguable. Yeah we want the dark goth sh!t for dark movies, but try painting with a different brush every once in a while. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Alice in Wonderland were complete pieces of sh!t in his hands. Every film is not a nail, stop using a hammer.

  18. It can't be Alita: Battle Angel.
    - It was basically the latest high profile release as a studio before the takeover by Disney.
    - it was released at the same time worldwide in February
So, promo has been over for weeks. There's no major country where it could premiere and Disney hasn't been involved with this one.

  19. @Ubervation Nope, sorry, that absolutely never happened. Personally, we saw it midweek and our theatre was packed. You're not the first person to insist Disney did that, there are a few of you out there, but nobody believes you.

I went to the first Iron Man movie ten years ago kicking and screaming. I was there strictly for the popcorn, because I love Mr. Kay and because Robert Downey Jr. can act. Now, I actually look forward to the next movie. Marvel does indeed put out a good product.

  20. as much as i loved spring breakers i think Korine is a sure money loser when it comes to premieres

cult films are by definition movies that don't do well in cinemas

  21. Beach bum looks fun. A burn out poet with a colorful cast? Sign me up.

  22. Alita took in $400MM worldwide. So not a "bomb" but the studio had hoped for more from a James Cameron film. Enough reason for the studio to be nervous about those Avatar sequels.

  23. @ Cee Kay - oh because you said you were in a packed studio let's all worship at you right drivel...... its sound very personal for you, Nobody cares about your feminism.... there is no patriarchy and Brie Larson is a fucking moron - THE END

  24. Captain Marvel premiered on International Women's Day, when most women in China have only a half day at work or school, so tons of people ended up seeing it because they weren't busy. It was a savvy move for them and is one reason why it's made so much money.

You know what pisses me off about Marvel? They like to say “ooooh it’s top sekriiiiit” and you get a ticket and it’s the same storyline every single time.

  26. @Cee Kay - it's no use . . . Disney is the big bad for everyone now and people will continue to peddle conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory about them. As a life long Marvel Comics fan, what Marvel Studios (not Fox/Sony) is doing and the work they have put out has been incredible. Not every film is a home run (Thor: The Dark World, Avengers: Age of Ultron among the weaker films). But the totality of their work is impressive and the narrative through-line over the last 11 years is ground breaking and revolutionary. Anyone saying otherwise is just in denial. I am so sick of vitriol for the sake of vitriol . . . if you don't like something, that's your prerogative - but it doesn't require you to be an ass to those that do . . . just MOVE ON!
