A famous BBC presenter and journalist gunned down in the middle of a busy afternoon on her front doorstep and the police lift, charge and convict a local Freddie Mercury obsessed nutter. Not a nice guy, to be honest, but not a killer as an appeal found out pretty quickly. Freed and huge damages paid. Next ridiculous rumours leaked about her being snuffed by the Serbian secret service of all people because she filmed a TV appeal for kids dispossesed in the Balkans. No one bought that garbage.
Now we hear that shortly before her death she was asking questions at the BBC about Savile, still very much alive and raping at the time, and why he wasn't in jail. Weeks later one in the back of her head as she got her front door key out.

So are the court filings referred to at the end everything related to what's going on in Florida with re-opening Epstein's case? Epstein and Prince Andrew are long time buds, there are the stories about them flying all over the world for young girls, and there are potentially explosive connections that could leak out from Epstein's case.

It could be Jimmy Saville, and yes even as a child I thought Saville was creepy and couldn’t understand why he was lauded, but I’m veering more towards Prince Airmiles Andy as the celebrity, as he has a a lot of connections including seriously dodgy ones.

I remember driving past his house (he lives in The Wick on Richmond Hill which John Mills owned and where Juliet and Hayley Mills grew up) and there being loads of cars everywhere, including police cars. His excuse was pathetic. Gary Glitter was another singer who was doing more than just looking at child porn, but he did get caught and jailed.
It could be Cliff Richard but I’m not so sure about him. Interestingly, and not apropos to the blind, Cliff and Jill Dando were good friends and Jill’s fiancé Alan Farthing (who was not involved in her murder) is the royal obstetrician and gynaecologist who MM didn’t want involved with the pregnancy and birth of Archie. The Savile connection could be very interesting - I was a temp at a national tabloid in the late 90s and I remember commenting to one of the editors about Savile and he replied "you know he's a kiddie fiddler?" It was the first time I'd heard that term. If the press knew 13 years before he died then why keep quiet - it would be such a massive scoop. Savile also apparently entertained high ranking police officers every week for coffee at his flat, so he certainly had friends in high places.

I was living in England a couple of years before that and a friend who worked in the local press remark ed about Savile fucking corpses at the morgue at Stoke Mandeville hospital. Everyone knew and if you said anything you're career was dead. This was a guy who was a stronger in a local paper in a middling English city. And everyone else seemed to know about it before me too, when I rushed to tell them with a "Hey guess who's a fucking nonce..?"

I read loads about Savile and all the surrounding stuff around the time he died. I'd heard rumors about Savile myself in real life. Matthew Wright talked about when he was a journalist. If anybody got a story on Savile, Savile would phone up remind them how much money he had raised for charity (opening hospitals amount) and did they want to be responsible for that stopping, kind of threaten them. It always worked. There have been first hand accounts on tinternet from things he did from the late 50's to his paperboy's escape in his final years. He appears to have assaulted anybody, anywhere on a near hourly basis. Savile was also a fantasist, he claimed to have more power than he had, with Maggie thatcher, the Royals, Military honers that he made up.But I didn't link him to Jill, that was Cliff in my mind. Stories of Cliff since his childhood days pimping himself out on the meatrack (railings) in Trafalgar square, hanging out with the Krays and Lord Bothby.

ReplyDeleteI don't think per capita any more children go missing in the UK than any other country. There was a child abuse scandal involving people in high places in Belgium a few years ago. The news about one J Savile came out (officially) shortly after his death - another high-up (in the UK, I wouldn't imagine he was known overseas) who was revealed to have dark secrets was the late Cyril Smith, MP. I used to think Savile was weird but I thought well, he did good for charity; I was surprised when I learned about the nastier aspects of his life. Nobody decent would want children to be horribly abused but sometimes it's hard to know what is true and what is allegation. There is a case going on in the UK at present where someone who made claims about having been abused is being tried for having lied or wasting police time or something like that. I don't want to say anything more than that because the case is still ongoing - it's possible the person could be found innocent.
ReplyDeleteAbout Cliff Richard I don't know. He did sue the BBC successfully over the way they reported his questioning by the police about something. Maybe some other British visitors to the site have more knowledge than I of that matter. The Elm House guest list has been discredited. One person who had to do with putting it together was convicted of a fraud involving taking pensioners' money.

Addendum. There is an Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) going on in the UK at present though that's an inquiry into how children in orphanages may have been abused I believe rather than preliminaries for a legal trial.

Somebody did say upthread that the UK is "paedo central" and I think it's unfair to say that one country is any worse than another. There was a time when I was unwell and I spent a lot of time on YouTube looking at conspiracy theory type videos (which I now try to avoid). Some of the videos are really "out there" - alleging that everybody a little bit famous is in the illuminati or secretly transgender or a satanist or a combination of all those things. It's crazy. I don't believe in the illuminati myself - I'm not saying it's impossible that there could be a clandestine famous transgender person here or there and maybe there are some satanists but certainly not the number that are claimed by some of the people making some of the stranger conspiracy theory videos. If the number of people that are alleged to be transgender really were thus, there would have to be surgeons running transgendering operations like a conveyor belt/production line. Though obviously I don't think you believe these things.
I'm not saying that local councils can't mess up sometimes. There was a case in the 1990s (I think 1994) where a council had been sending youngsters to stay with a couple called West who turned out to be murderers. They weren't a couple who could be called "elite" though. One of the daughters of the couple said something about one of her siblings being buried in the cellar and for whatever reason it was decided to investigate the matter and it turned out there were several bodies interred in the cellar. But then wasn't there an American (John Gacey") who had some bodies buried in his crawl space? Sandy, I know you said it happens in every country so I'm not particularly getting at you but I wanted to defend the UK against allegations that problems of paedophilia are worse there than anywhere else. I'm not saying it doesn't exist at all in the UK.
