I saw "Judy" over the weekend and while i thought it was all right, I think it's being somewhat overrated. I thought Renee was good, but at times I felt like I was watching a caricature.

ReplyDeleteUnknown -- I very much had the same concern seeing ads and trailer. However, I respectfully disagree about it when watching the whole movie.

I did see the whole movie and that's just the impression I walked away with, she uses a lot of acting ticks and though she's good and I think she'll be nominated, I didn't think it was quite there enough to be worthy of an Oscar. Part of it might have been the script, but there are some performances where the person being portrayed feels a lot more fleshed out, and sometimes it just feels a little flat, like a nightclub impression. I think Zellweger's performance is somewhere in between. JMO.

ReplyDeleteI also thought the trailer looked campy so I was not in a rush to see it in theaters. I love Judy Garland so I will probably watch it eventually though.

ReplyDeleteFinally, some real news. Renee is purportedly one of Enty's sources, so I believe this one. She's not some young bimbo, though. Does Cumberbatch think her Oscar glow will rub off on him?
ReplyDeletewhile it's possible Benedict wanted to get together with Renee, I doubt highly it was to hook up. I like Renee, she's a good actress and seems swell but she's not the type that men really persue like that.
