Blind Item #2

This action film starred 2 aging A-listers, both are years past the days when either one could carry a film.  The result?  One of the biggest box office busts of all time, and perhaps the most predicable & avoidable.  The studios will have to swallow a 9 figure loss.

  3. Is it that they can't carry a film or is it more the fact that audiences are saturated in terrible sequels and remakes that no one asked for?

  4. Could Linda Hamilton ever carry a film? Somehow I think this is two other actors.

  5. So the studio will have to swallow nine figures? No matter to them, it's all laundered from illegal activities anyway.

  6. Gemini Man? Not sure if Clive Owens counts as an action star tho

  7. I heard it was good, I'm looking forward to it. Linda kicked ass in the previous ones. I'm sick of watching 20 something kids on film. It's boring.

  8. This is the new Terminator movie I think it made 26million this weekend...

  9. An action movie with an octogenarian kicking ass and saving the day never should of been made. I suppose I could lend them my advice for a decent sum.

  10. I blame Blade Runner 2049 for Terminator Dark Fate.

  11. I think if this Terminator bombs it will be bc there have been so many lackluster ones prior to it. You dont go bc you don't know if you're going to be lost or just wasting your money bc it is bad. It's easier to view at home on this type of situation.

  12. My first thought was The Irishman

  13. What about that new flick with Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino? Both have totally sold out and have become scene chewers. So sad considering that once upon a time they were all about their craft and now it's all about the paycheck, quality and dignity be damned.

  14. Just googled the title and yes, "The Irishman" as Gator said.

  15. It’s not The Irishmen because it was never meant to be in theatres for very long, it’s financed by Netflix for them to stream. So Terminator and Arnold and Linda Hamilton it has to be with no box office this weekend.

  16. The thing that the writer of this blind item assumes is that all that matters is domestic box office.

Flawed as it was, Terminator Genysis was saved by the international box office. That's why they thought the franchise had legs and deserved another reboot.

And the same thing is happening with this one. $29.6m in the US, $94.6m in the rest of the world, with several major markets that have still to open.
It won't be a huge hit for the studio (especially as the budget is $185m and the box office needs to be two or three times as high to get the initial investment back), but it won't be a massive flop either.

    1. It's been underperforming overseas as well.

  17. Robert DeNiro has never been an action star. This is Terminator.

  18. Dark Fate is bombing overseas as well.

  19. I gather Terminator: Woke Fate isn't doing well? I don't think it has anything to do with Schwarzenegger and Hamilton.

the new terminator is moving , it sneaks up on you

  22. Probably supposed to be Terminator but Hamilton no A lister and if you don't think Arnold can carry a film you don't know much about the movie business.

  23. Linda Hamilton, although a badass, is not an A-lister - even by Enty's generous terms. Hamilton would be the first person to agree with me. This has to be something else...

  24. Hamilton was A list, Arnie is A++ list.
If it’s Terminator, go woke, go broke.
Haven’t seen the movie, but T1 & T2 are classics, I was hoping with Linda back with Arnie, this would make up for the other lousy sequels.

  26. LOL I also watch the critical drinker from time to time and his review of the Terminator movie is pretty funny!

Yah. It was a massive flop this weekend. it was the female ghostbusters of the terminators.

  27. I saw that Dark fate would flop miles away, Terminator has not had anything resembling success since T2, that was in 1991, when I was in high school. This film was another reboot of the series that is aimed at a demo born after 1995. All the older men are whining the film is WOKE and FEMINIST, need to grow the fuck up.

Hollywood needs to just stop with all these reboots and remakes, it is just them serving us reheated leftovers.

  28. Can someone please explain to me how a Terminator can age? It's a robot.
