ReplyDelete@Flashy Vic Exactly right. Springsteen had the major backing of CBS records and became a big hit. Record companies looked for a ripoff, for $$$ like the Monkees were to the Beatles, and peddled "John Cougar" as another Springsteen, in jeans and a t-shirt.

Springsteen is an asshole. Mellencamp is an asshole. But one feels he is an American Icon and spews his unasked for political opinions around. The other thinks that he is just a guy from Seymour,Indiana who worked hard,made his own luck and wants to be left alone.
