Blind Items Revealed #5 - Anniversary Month

October 30, 2015

Usually it is the two biggest stars in the film that travel together and the lesser stars divide up and conquer the rest of the cities on the globe. Not in the case of this blockbuster. As I told you previously, the two stars can't stand each other so the main female lead is traveling alone throughout the globe. When absolutely required she will be on the red carpet with the A list male lead, but she hates him.

Daniel Craig/Naomie Harris

  3. Aww she just wanted him to have alone time with Rachel Weisz since they are hardly ever with each other.

  5. Bond and Moneypenny hate each other IRL? There better be some great acting in that new film!

  6. I really really like Craig as Bond, he reminds me a lot of Connery's Bond, but I can totally see him being an a-hole to work with.

  7. @Zebra, Sure, Connery minus the charm and sense of humor. ;)

  8. Craigs isn't even close to Connery. He's awful.

  9. He's very close to the Bond from the books, as was Connery. Highly recommend reading the series, but keep in mind that Ian Fleming was a terrible person- overtly sexist and exceedingly racist, and wasn't afraid to let everyone know.

  10. You really can't see how fake this blind item is, can you?

Nobody without the reveal could have guessed in October 2015 that it was Craig and Naomi Harris, who, by the way, wasn't "the main female lead" in Spectre (released a few days later). Léa Seydoux was the lead. Harris got more prominent a couple years ago thanks to her Oscar nomination for Moonlight, but she's in the credits for Spectre after Seydoux and Monica Bellucci (or after Ben Whishaw, who's the new Q), and her part as Moneypenny is quite minor (even if they gave more depth to the character starting with Skyfall).

Meanwhile, if you look at pictures of the press event in Jamaica from April, you can see that Harris is always standing or seated next to Craig while she had opportunities to switch with Seydoux, De La Armas or Lashanna Lynch.

It also reminds me of the constant campaigning by Enty against him in the blind items. Craig is a cheater, he had affairs with Rooney Mara and Monica Bellucci, etc. But the best one is that he's supposed to be an idiot who can't put two words together. Well, by a coincidence, I watched a couple of days ago an interview he gave during the promo tour for Knives Out, where he got a few unexpected questions. He gave an articulate answer that wasn't prepared at all.

But, sure, he's ruined the series by refusing to do some kite surfing on an iceberg in the middle of a tsunami, while the previous fella didn't mind.

  13. Angela, you are spot on.

  14. Craig's been the only Bond to give Connery a run for his money. Nobody in between matters, they were life support for the franchise.

  15. Whatever happened to Idris Elba being the next (black) Bond ??? He can act, he's pretty ripped and has the accent.

  16. Idris Elba would be too old to get the part. Even if the first film without Craig is released in 2022 (which is a very optimistic hypothesis), Elba would be 50. That wouldn't allow him to grow into the part and do at least three or four films to make an impression, which is the objective.

All the speculation about Elba getting the part is baseless. The producers at EON will most likely meet with British actors around 40, preferably ones that have flown under the radar, rather than established actors that can get very expensive from day one. For Casino Royale, the favorites in the press were Clive Owen, Goran Visnjic or Julian McMahon. All of them had some kind of fame in the US. Yet, they went with a guy mostly known for playing a love interest in a Tomb Raider movie, unless you had seen Munich or Layer Cake, and in that case, it was obvious that the guy would be a great Bond.
