  5. O/T: BREAKING NEWS
NYT: Harvey Weinstein and his former studio have a tentative $25 million deal with his accusers. He won't have to admit wrongdoing or pay his own money.

    Grr.............

  7. $25 million is a lot for casting couch regret.

Nice work if you can get it.

  9. @J, Harvey doesn't have to pay a cent or admit any wrong dealing, it's the insurers who have to pay. This cat has at least nine lives.

"In October 2017, Weinstein was accused in civil lawsuits filed by more than 30 women of sexual harassment, assault and rape. Those women – both actresses and former employees at Weinstein’s studio – in addition to potential claimants would share the settlement, which would be paid by the insurance companies on behalf of Weinstein’s now-bankrupt Weinstein Company, according to the Times."

    1. Spoken like the unrepentant misogynist you are.

  10. Somehow I've got the feeling people like Asia Argento will be willing to take the cash, even if it comes from insurers...

...and scream "SCORE" with fists pumping as soon as the cameras are off.

  11. Hey J, if you think Harvey is innocent then there's this great girl Jessica Sina that you should meet ;)

  12. Innocent of what? Innocent of raping Asia Argento, who subsequently was his "girlfriend" for five years?

    Yes, I think that.

  13. As I've said numerous times, #metoo bullshit artists destroy the chance for true justice and recognition of real victims.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @J.. agreed. IMO many were victims, but equally many (if not more) willingly climbed on the casting couch and are now claiming #metoo. Equating a choice to couch(even if you felt you had to make the choice to advance your career) with being attacked and assaulted denigrates those who had no choice in their fate.

  15. So we should ignore all the victims because some might be exaggerating? Great justice system there.

I've got zero sympathy for any of these pigs. That's the risk you take when you f*ck your employees or job applicants without written consent or documentation.

  16. Brayson, who is this woman I should know about? Googled the name you gave and saw nothing.

"Written consent" before encounters? So glad I'm not new to this world!

    Cheers!

  18. All the Harvey defenders can try to explain it off as willing participants but climbing onto the casting couch "willingly" and being told "or else" is still being victimized.

  19. Sorry, Louise, but people don't have a god-given right to be movie stars.

No quotes around willingly. Show me where Harvey put a gun to Paz de la Huerta's head... time and time again... after being invited into her apartment...

  20. People have a right to pursue the job they want, movie star or cashier at Walmart. Being told you won't have the job unless you sleep with the director, producer, manager, whatever....who has the power to blacklist, fire you, make your job miserable...that's being victimized. No gun needed.

  21. What promotional tour is Matthew McConaughey doing right now?

I did tho hear that he’s doing that visiting professor thing at U of Austin – you just know he’s going to hook up with young/hot undergrads

  22. @Louise: You are totally contradicting yourself. ‘Willingly’ does NOT equal ‘being told you won’t have a job unless you sleep with whomever’.

    ReplyDelete
  23. No, Aqua, "Being told you won't have a job unless you sleep with whomever" equals pressure, harassment, discrimination and the threat of losing out on career opportunities. Someone caving under those conditions does NOT equal them doing it willingly.

  24. @Brayson87
That's not even $1M per accuser. Who would settle for that? Not me!

    ReplyDelete
  25. @DoTell: Two types of casting couchers. There are those who cave under conditions of harassment, lack of career opportunities, etc., then there are those who do it willingly.
