Blind Item #3 - Reader Blind

This deceased foreign born legendary actor was in everything and played a number of the most iconic film and literary characters in history and also had some fascinating adventures in his personal life before he was famous.  He had a striking physical appearance but was very sensitive about one aspect of this which was his hair or lack of it.

He wore a toupee his whole film career and was never seen without it in public. In fact, he wore one even when spending time with his family.

The one exception to this was a film he made about halfway through his career where he played a relative of a famous fictional character. He was naturally bald for that role.  A number of his friends advised him he should stay that way as it made him look even more distinguished but the actor rejected that.  In fact, he even told reporters that he had shaved his head for the role.

  6. Christopher Lee, what a legend. What I'd give to know what he did in the war before he was famous.

I always thought we'd have a national week of mourning when he died.

  7. He served with the SAS and LRDG, and spoke several languages. Very impressive man.

  8. James Bond was written by his cousin Ian Fleming partly about Lee's exploits in WW2. The man was and still is a complete legend.

  9. Christopher Lee did look better bald.

    That hairpiece was obvious too.

  10. How bald are we talking? His hairline usually looked real.

  11. I bumped into Sean Connery walking out of an Upper East Side store as he was walking in. He wasn't wearing a toup. But he is VERY tall. (Or I am VERY short.)

  12. Christopher Lee always scared the crap out of me. To show what kind of man he was - I was watching the interviews about The Wicker Man on the dvd. He complained that one of the producers didn't even say hello to his wife. It still upset him, because he said you can tell what kind of man the producer was if he couldn't even acknowledge his wife.

    Super class.

  17. Recorded a death metal album in his 90s. And no one thought it unusual.

Given his wartime and pre war exploits (he volunteered to fight for the Finn's against the Russians) and the fact he was the son of an Italian countess famed for her beauty, he was pretty much in the top ten badasses of the 20th century.
