Blind Item #1

The husband of the former A list figure skater who is almost as famous for being a victim rather than a skater has once again done his make a lot of money off an event while not paying anyone who made the event possible. He owes various people well over $1M and this is not the first time.

  1. Oh, definitely. Especially with the victim reference.

  2. Nancy Kerrigan was pathetic - even before she got her knees bashed.

  3. When I lived in Boston, I saw her and her mom out and about a few times. Total bitch. Kerrigan always has the look on her face like she smells something bad. And don't forget, she gained her husband by cheating. He left his wife and children for her. It's no surprise her husband is shady. The press played up her mother's "blindness" for the sob story. Her mom was walking about just fine. I have no doubt that her mother is legally blind, but it wasn't as debilitating as the press represented. I saw her mom walking around Logan airport unaided and finding what she needed just fine.

  4. I never understood why it had to be either / or — both Kerrigan and Harding seem insufferable

  5. Well, one of them had the other one (literally ) whacked in order to eliminate her as competition. So there's that.

  6. She always had that slightly Fraggle-y look of an almost attractive girl who has been shrinkwrapped too tightly.

  7. It did suck that Nancy put in years of work to have her chances at gold ruined by someone who couldn't play fair and potentially could have physically disabled her enough to never be able to skate professionally again. If Kerrigan skated well enough after the kneebashing to get a silver, she probably could have gotten the gold without the kneebashing. The only villains there were the Harding gang.

  8. I disagree @DoTell. If you were familiar with the skating world back then, Kerrigan's silver performance was the best she would ever perform, prompted in no small part to the incredible added support, sympathetic attention, and the best of sports psychology deployed at that time. The attack wasn't terribly severe all things considered, and Kerrigan never quite measured up to that indiscernible magic and it factor that Baiul's balletic passion and Kwan's purist edges prominently evidenced. Kerrigan's movement on the ice is captivating, said no one ever.

  9. I wouldn’t judge her for her facial expressions. her brother murdered right father, I’m sure you would understand why she couldn’t make a happy face for you.

  10. Tea Cup is correct.

I’ve been watching figure skating for over 30 years. Nancy Kerrigan is a crap skater by her own admission. She was no threat to Tonya Harding.

Tonya was the only amateur female skater at that time who could land a triple axel. She had mandatory points deductions because she had to change her boot laces. She placed 4th. Imagine where she would have placed without an equipment malfunction.

  11. "Oksana two-footed her landings!" "Nancy flutzed!" Ah, this one sure takes me back.

  12. I don’t know if you all saw Lillehammer the medal ceremony. There was a delay because they had to wait for Okayama.

Nancy was caught on camera saying horrible things about a 16 year old girl. She was caught saying they had to wait for Oksana to put on makeup, etc.

If you recall, Oksana skated injured. Another skater collided into her during a practice session during the Olympic Games.

What kind of person makes fun of a 16 year old child who skated with an injured back? Said injured child beat the adult skater.

    I’ll tell you who.

    A jealous bitch.

  13. Kerrigan was insufferable even before the knee bashing, but she milked the victim thing to the hilt, then pouted when she didn't win the gold. Her mother was just as bad, and still is.

  14. Morninglory: Her brother killed her father several years after she showed the attitude at the Olympics.

  15. Here's the story about Jerry Solomon Nancy's husband) and the money he is screwing folks out of:

  16. Apparently Kerrigan was a perceived threat to Harding, hence the plotting and the attack. Don't care what remarks Kerrigan may or may not have made later on. The only bad guys in that situation were Harding and her goons.

  17. I worked with Nancy. She's terrific and great fun to party with. I think she gets a bad rap due to a bit of resting B face.

If Tonya had ever skated well in two programs at Worlds or 1992 Olympics, she would have beaten Kerrigan. It would have taken a clean program with a triple Axel for Harding to beat Kerrigan and Baiul in Lillehammer; clearly, that wasn't going to happen.

  20. @Do Tell Really sticking to that narrative, eh? It's fine, you do you...but nobody is taking you seriously.

  21. @OKay, I'm taking @Do Tell seriously because I totally agree. Just because someone is disliked, doesn't mean they deserve to get kneecapped by a rival.

    You people frighten me.

  22. Nancy supports her murderous brother. Sounds like the family from hell.

  23. Anyone who competes works their asses off to get to the Olympics

Nancy and Tonya were COMPLETELY different skaters and both were great.

That's when skating was great. You could actually watch the skaters without advertising all over the rink and constant graphics on the screen. Now it just sucks.
