Blind Item #6

This A list mostly movie actress who is an Oscar winner/nominee and probably will be again this year, is closeted. She wanted a date for award shows, so found a co-star.

  2. That Ronan person looks like a man to me.

That Timothy Chamalet person looks like a girl to me.

Handsome women and beautiful men in Hollywood.

  3. SR is an outstanding actress, though.

Not sure who is in the running for Best Actress, but as much as I like Zellweger, I hope someone else wins. I think "Judy" was more hype than anything else.

    1. i thought renee did a pretty good job as judy until she sang, and then it was like "oh yeah, she's no judy garland, huh?"

agreed, though. i hope someone else gets it. preferably saoirse, tbh. not seen little women yet but i like that she's probably the only current movie star who can carry a film and who hasn't also resorted to franchises for a big payday. she clearly just enjoys the work.

  5. I saw four movies over the last year that were really, really good and lived up to their hype. "Uncut Gems," "Joker," "The Lighthouse" and "JoJo Rabbit".

So there are some diamonds in the hype-rough.

  6. I thought Knives out and joker were great movies. The rest were ok. Did not see little women or uncut gems yet and refused to watch the rest of the Irishman.

  7. Yeah, Knives Out was a good time though a bit exhausting to watch. Wasn't enthralled with the actress that played the young employee.

  8. I really don't understand the love for Knives Out. It was an overlong standard TV murder mystery episode easily and literally explained to the audience by the private eye in the end.

  10. Didn't Enty hate her film and didn't he tell us that film was in trouble? Now she'll be nominated for it?

  11. Uncut Gems was good but I found it exhausting to watch because there was so much kinetic energy happening for most of the movie. I wanted to see it because I was interested in seeing Adam Sandler in a black comedy type of role and one that is a departure from his usual slap-stick style. I thought he was great. It sort of reminded me of how he was in Punch Drunk Love.

  12. @Robin First post ever...saw Uncut Gems pre release at Telluride’s Film Festival. 10 of us walked out. Believe me we have seen it all over 12 years.

  13. Agree this is Saorise. I saw her getting snuggled by costar in the DM. I do think she's a great actress.

I love when commenters share movie reviews (with no spoilers). THanks, and please keep them coming!

  14. @Robin, yeah, Uncut Gems is a hard movie to watch because there is so much tension all the way through and you keep waiting for everything to come crashing down. It reminded me of Joker as far as its overall effect because I found it a real bitchslap of a movie.

  15. Binds outting people's sexuality are so 2010. Can't we move on? Who gives a shit? The majority of the blinds state that everyone in Hollywood is a whore or sex bot anyway.

  16. saorise. little women didnt bomb& had good reviews. even w/the good reviews tho its not imo 'oscar caliber' (besides Saaorise). there were better movies tht wont be nominated/didnt get campaigned. gerwig will get nom'd for adapted screenplay ofc be surprised if not.

are u new? we have it relatively good w/tolerance in our western bubbl COMPARED to internationally. this is the entertainment industry. they play progressive outwardly, but global cash has prejudice & they knw it. hetero sells the most cuz its 'the default' thus $ riskproof. they know it wont piss anybody off or risk censorship/block, esp china whove made it clear it wont tolerate gay anything in films. they might block a movie just bc the lead is out as gay/bi but the film itself is 100% hetero. its too much a risk for the greedy & thats what they are. heteronormativity linked to money. its homophobia excused by revenue, basically. in urs mine & reg ppl's real world out here we arent trying to sell to the masses. they are. thats the difference & thats why its still 'so 2010'. hell, its been this way since paramount shaped 'the star system' looooong ago

  18. Can’t watch the thousandth version of Little Women. Give it a reat already. Love Saorsie though.

  19. actually they should refilm Little Women every four years if we have to sit through the Olympics every four years and all that god-awful unartistic ice-skating choreography we should at least get to see new versions of Little Women every four years. It is a good story and has lots of good plot lines and lots of opportunities for young women to look hot and lovable

  20. I refuse to spend my time or money on a movie remade from a classic novel in which some pompous ass decides that she knows better about mores and attitudes of the time than the writer who actually lived in the time the novel was set. Or decides that she is going to make the novel politically correct, no matter how incongruous it is to the time in which it is set and in which it was written.

Not everything needs a reset button, for God's sake.

  21. Little Women was NOT a good version of the story The Hepburn/Liz Taylor version is the best one, if you wanna watch the story.

  22. Saorise Ronan is the best young actress out there, also closeted as f***. She is doing a 'Brie Larson' to get academy acceptance.
