This B- list host/sometime reality star who got his shot because of the kindness of others shows what kind of guy he is by taking shots at the permanent A list host who is too ill to fight back. Really nice. Unless you are someone who can advance his career or higher than him on the list, he is a jerk.

ReplyDeleteMy mom told me about an incident in the 80s when she was temping at a news affiliate. She went into the bldg. and walked toward a row of elevators. As she started to enter one of them the security guard started yelling at her. "No! Not THAT one! Take another one. THAT elevator belongs to Ms. Walters!" She said she looked at the poor security guard and he could see the disbelief on her face. He shrugged and said, "Welcome to my world!" She turned around and left. Called her temp agency and asked for another assignment. When asked what happened she told them the story and replied, "I don't do divas." Her next assignment? Working for Don King & Mike Tyson. She LOVED that assignment. Said they were the nicest guys and a lot of fun to work for. Only in NY!

ReplyDeleteMy jaw dropped the first time I read a blind here about Ross being a jerk! I totally believed the self-deprecating, witty, sweet guy persona. That being said, I could totally see Babs being intimidating in her day.

ReplyDeleteA few years back we were on vacation in Southern California. My husband was running some stuff back to our hotel & saw Ross Matthews coming out of a store. He tells Ross that his wife (me) is a huge fan (cuz I get a kick out of him). Ross sez “lets send her a pic of us”, has his friend hold the pile of coats my husband had and proceeded to take a few pics with my husband. It prob helped that my husband is a cutie pie, but I’ve had a special place in my heart for Ross ever since.

ReplyDeleteBarbara Walters has never been a woman I admired, although, perhaps I should have. She got her start on TV because her father was in the liquor business and owned clubs. He did favors for lots of powerful people. They, in turn, helped his daughter get her foot in the door where women had not tread before. After she got in, she worked her tush off and then some. Few people knew she had a severely mentally challenged sister whom she adored and took care of all her life. That is why Barbara never had biological children of her own. She adopted a daughter. She was afraid her child might be born with something wrong as well. She, allegedly, is suffering from Alzheimer's and doesn't remember anyone or anything. Sad ending.
