Blind Item #22 - Oscars

The actor in the previous blind item and an A lister mentioned earlier in the blinds both had their award season acceptance speeches written by the same writer. That is why when each has won, their speeches seemed so polished.

  3. Loads of people were saying Pitt must have had his speech written for him.

  4. F*cking actors just reading lines. No heart or brain, just a slot where you insert quarters.

    1. @do tell, yes! I tried to watch, Pitt irritated me with his speech and I lasted about five more minutes. I don’t get the hoopla about Pitt or Affleck for that matter. In my opinion neither are great actors.

  9. First time in over 50 years of watching that I turned it off. It was excruciating.

  10. I seriously doubt a professional writer wrote Phoenix's incoherent speech. It was so rambling.

  11. Does anyone else get the feeling Pitt has political ambitions?

    1. Well, you know... There is a market niche - programming for really stupid people. I'm sure several people will tune in!

    2. Please don't say that..... I am tired of her!
She's constantly in press here! Can't even read morning paper without her gospels!

  13. Agreed. The format was awful. The show has lost its glamour.

    2. seeing Blac Chyna on the oscar red carpet was as real a sign as ever these awards are a joke to the general public. Kind of like them inviting that airbrushed youtube beauty twink to the Met. There was a time when the Kardashians would be laughed at for thinking they could get in to the VF party - same w/Emily Rat. Low rent, RIP it all lmaooo

  14. Phoenix's speech didn't seem rehearsed and polished to me; it seemed disorganized and rambling.

  17. BP’s speeches this award season have been hilarious. I was waiting for this one to be the same.

He seemed too overcome to be amusing.

  18. Hard to believe that Pitt just happened to have John Bolton on his mind when he wrote his acceptance speech.

  19. @Carol, That was an obvious tell, and his speechwriter knew it and did it anyway to f*ck him and advertise their services at the same time.😅

  20. I had a blast last night, not because of the awards, but because I went to a really fun event with a friend that was held at an independent theater. We got very dressed up, and they had food, drinks, etc. We watched the awards, but got up during the commercials (they had a timer on the screen to let you know when the show was starting again.) I can’t remember how many times I said, ‘We need Ricky’. The show was so dis-jointed and had no flow. When Eminem showed up, I liked his performance but was very confused as to why he was there. It could’ve been as simple as someone saying, (after the montage of previous songs), ‘And now, to sing his song...,blah, blah, blah. And why were Steve Martin & Chris Rock doing the pseudo co-hosting of the no-host show? Don’t get me started on Kristen Wiig & Maya Rudolph. Just awful & it went on way too long. Painful to watch. The theme of the show seemed to be ‘surprises’ and it just didn’t work. At all.

Joaquin’s speech was horrible and rambling. I was embarrassed for him. I thought that Laura Dern’s was quite eloquent. To me, Brad seemed truly touched to have won.

@Brayson, in terms of attendance, I wanted to go last year but it was sold out. This year, it was about 60% full, and many people left before the end.

P.S. We booed when they showed Kirk Douglas during the In Memoriam. There was an older couple sitting in front of us who asked if we could be quiet, and I said, no, but there are plenty of empty seats if you want to move. 😆 (I NEVER talk during movies, but this was an awards show where people were laughing, clapping, booing, and interacting with each other.)

  21. pitts speech was so written by a writer.. some obama bro that thinks hes clever wrote that shit and its like , no this isnt clever and no one gives a fuck what you have to say about politics including apparently pitt himself lol

  22. Pitt. It's pathetic that they can't even say "thank you" in their own words.

  23. Billy Eilish needs to get over herself - so many condescending looks coming from her in response to what was on stage at the time. Yes, it was boring, but you can't sit there looking like an angry, spoiled, tired child the whole time. I was happy to see Eminem there, and happy that he showed up - he was a no-show when he won the Oscar for 8 mile. I was even happier when they gave him a standing ovation. He's still the bomb! (haha - do they even say that anymore?!?!) Dern's speech was too gushy and more along the lines of my pet peeve when people thank Jesus and declare themselves blessed... so... Jesus likes you better? None of us are blessed? "...If you are truly blessed, your heroes are the legendary Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd" so, nobody else is THAT blessed?! I liked Pitt's speech - I wouldn't call it a speech though - and I hope he didn't pay someone for three random, off the cuff, disjointed remarks. I cringed at "... (riding Leo's coattails).."The view is remarkable" wtf? Oh, full disclosure... I'm a Missouri Girl - so there's that. :-)

    1. @Jeweled Sky (I like your username btw)

      1) Asokebody pointed out & ill reintegrate - I’m the auditorium they have 2 large screens of either side of the stage that show the live feed (what ppl at home are seeing). Everytime Billie had those ‘reactions’ she was wincing at herself being on the two giant screens.

      2) I’m guessing your new - Enty has had recent blinds saying Billie Eilish is like Lorde - inexpicable sudden popularity & catapulted into the spotlight w/a lot of payola & then poof, disappears from the scene. Billie doesn’t know this - yet. Lorde didn’t know either....

  28. Phoenix and Renee Zellweger. Her speech was far too polished to be off the cuff. It sounded like she was reading lines that she had memorized.

  29. Kristin Wiig sucks the air out of a room. Painful.

  30. Billie is a teenager, cut her some slack. I loved Joaquin's speech, I mean, who can argue with the idea that we are all in the same boat and ultimately on the same team. Basically, stop hating? It was good and sweet and said nothing bad or mean about anyone, it was all positive. Renee's could not possibly be written, or she needs her money back- 10 minutes of rambling names- so boring.

  31. I think Pitt is one of them but Phoenix? I don't think so

  32. Aw that sucks if Billie was looking at HERSELF and the internet is saying she was making that face at Eminem, I can only imagine she must think Em is a total gold star superhero, I doubt she would purposefully disrespect him.

  33. Eminem made perfect sense.. The Academy is in the throes of a sea-change. What is more perfect than Eminem talking to the young, the Koreans, women, in fact anyone who feels as of getting to that stage is hard? Just take a shot. I don't think it had anything more sub-context than that.. Even the group from Korea was mouthing the words. It means something important to a lot of people. If you don't understand, perhaps you weren't the audience being addressed.

  34. They didn’t include Luke Perry or that freckled kid in the in memoriam, who besides Kobe, were the only ones I knew. so fuck the oscars
