Blind Items Revealed #5

February 11, 2020

For the first time I can remember, this permanent A list group who had one of the greatest debut albums of all time back in the day, is using a ghostwriter to help with new songs. Apparently sobriety means writer's block in this group.

Green Day

  1. Wait, they're permanent A list, now that is a joke.

  2. Don't attribute it to sobriety Man-- it's freaken hard enoough to get sober. They've had a really long run.

  3. I fuckin' HATE "Time Of Your Life" with a white hot intensity. I used to work at a military broadcasting station and every single damn time the local high school kids would graduate, we had to do a story on it and it was inevitable that someone would use that goddamn song underneath the footage. Also when we had to do stories on change of command ceremonies.

  4. Dookie wasn't their debut. Nice try though and Billie Joe is still a douche

  5. I laughed Do Tell though I'm a fan of Green Day. They were really a breath of fresh air and a huge influence on a lot of the music to come- particularly in the mid to late 2000s.

  6. Green Day was cool, they had some hits, saw them set a stage on fire once. But permanent A list, no f*ckin' way, much better and influential bands out there.

  7. Not sure if a ghost writer. Butch Walker has been posting all most daily about Billie Joe and him working together.

  8. @Brayson, they were certainly A-list at some point! But you're right- they are probably only around B or B at most now.

  9. @Da Fresh, Oh I'm fine with the A list, it's the permanent part that I take issue with, that's more like some Nirvana or U2 ranking. I'd say Blink 182 was more permanent A list than Green Day.

  10. Butch Walker (who i'm a fan of as a writer/artist) is a rock and roll assassin as a producer. Butch has now been responsible for the worst albums ever released by Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Hot Hot Heat (rip), The Academy Is (rip), All Time Low, Train and Brian Fallon who very few have ever come back from after his albums.

  11. you sell 75 million records and 5 grammy awards, that seems like A list

  12. @DoTell (spit my water out).I disdain that song with the same fevered intensity. Not a GD fan at all.Hubby plays their friggin songs wheneve ron radio till I give him the side eye, and he turns them off.Never dug them.

  13. Um, what? Perm A list? One of the best debut albums of all time? Has Enty been smoking crack? They were joke then and are a joke now. I'm not having this. Green Day are terrible.

  14. Haha. I was working in a high school then, and yes the song was ubiquitous.

I loved that album American Idiot, but by the time I glommed on to them they were post-punk for pops.

  15. Long time lurker here. I am here for 2 reasons.

#1 to say hello to username Strummer. Hello, @Strummer! GREAT NAME!!!

#2 to call BS on this blind because BJA is no longer sober.

And while I'm here, might as well throw in my 2 cents about Green Day. They are most definitely permanent A list. If it weren't for them there wouldn't be a Blink-182. Whether or not you like their music, it is a fact that they will talked about forever in terms of rock/punk music history.

I am not a fan of their new album, but apparently there are a lot of people who are.

And they sell out their tours consistently. (For a good reason...they are one of the best live acts out there and in 40+ years of concerts, I've seen some of the most legendary live acts that have ever performed.)

I'll most likely go back to lurking, but I really had to call enty out on this one.

  16. I loathe Green Day. IMO they are utterly terrible and the whiny voice of Billy Joe is just intolerable. Hope they go away forever.

  17. It's the TrumpCurse. Period.

  18. Green day puts on a kicka$$ live show. I saw them when they co-headlined with Blink 182, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. 🤘

  19. Seen GD. Nothing special bout them AT ALL. Even Blink were better and they were shocking live. They just screech about politics and absolutely nobody cares.

    1. Ah, got it. You don't agree with their political opinions, so you hate them.

  20. Come now, Enty. The Beatles, the Supremes, the Rolling Stones, Guns N' Roses, or the Bee Gees are permanent A list. Green Day does not belong in this gaggle at all...not by a long shot.

  21. Chiming in the with not Permanent A list chant.

Beatles, RS, U2, Nirvana even Pearl Jam but not Green Day.

  22. Permanent A-List my ass.

  23. Wasn't there a blind revealed about Billie Joe pulling some Milli Vanilli/MV shit?

I never liked them. Pissed me off when they called themselves "punk". I prefer Offspring (left "The" off on purpose).
