When this CEO stepped down, it sent shockwaves through the business and entertainment community. It was immediate and unprecedented. It also came after a meeting with a global security firm advising him what to do in regards to the foreign money makers he was forced to shut down. He concluded things were going to hell in a hurry and he didn't want to be associated with the company when it crashed and burned. He will be ready to be its Phoenix though after it is all over.

ReplyDeleteThe entertainment/tv part of Disney isn't in very good shape. ESPN particularly overspends for programming and lays staff off on a regular basis because people are dumping cable tv and not watching ESPN.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure all over the Disney empire. CERs are being cut or eliminated. Disney really works the way they spend capital. Every year they come around in June or August and tell you to not spend your capital money. Then the games begin of moving the capital from one budget to another. And wow, did they want to make just about everything a capital expense.

ReplyDeleteTaken a backseat as the company hits the most troubled time in its history after exhausting its resources on an unprecedented buying spree that he instigated?
The markets aren't convinced he's still in charge otherwise it stock price wouldn't have tanked in the past few weeks and the timing of his fleeing the scene is purely coincidental to virus finally cornholing the planet.

This is such a crock. Iger won't be able to do a damn thing to help "when this is all over," and his bailing in the first place wasn't such a good look for him (even though he didn't actually leave at all).
