The higher in line of succession royal straight up threw shade at his younger relative. The higher one said he would love to serve and do more for the country, but can't because of all the extra work he has to do on other things since the younger one is no longer helping out the country.

I'm going with Wills and Harry with this. If William wants to go fly helicopters, he should. Nobody's doing events or anything- why not go do stuff? What "extra work" is he doing from quarantine anyway?

ReplyDeleteWilliam and Kate are now taxed with a lot more appearances and obligations than they would normally have because of fragile Harry. So even if he was allowed to do it, William would not be able to because of his heavier schedule.

He would be doing something visible, he would be honestly working, and it would be a parallel to what his Grandmother did during WWII. And he can't, unless Granny gives her blessing to the endeavor as he is the face of the Monarchy during the COVID crisis.

ReplyDeleteIf I were William I'd argue with his grandmother... nicely. this is JUST what the royals need right now.... a face that is in the trenches, that endeavors vs exalts them (in grandiose ways) and they could use the spin on TOP of his wanting to do it. Everyone is so sick of the entitlement and gestures. Let him pull a Diana and be beloved if he wants. It is silly not to. THIS is what the Brits want from their royals for them to persevere and exist.. things that make them LIKED and in good graces.

Obviously William and Harry. Aside from the whole heir to the heir not taking a risk thing, there is a more practical reason why William's never going to fly choppers. First, he's only licensed as a co-pilot not a pilot. Secondly, his Royal Protection Officers have to fly with him and that takes away space from potential patients.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Harry and Meghan did offer to work part time and the Queen shut that down. And in terms of "work" the Queen, Charles, Camilla and Anne have always done SIGNIFICANTLY more work than William, Kate, Harry or Meghan and none of the elder generation are spring chickens. William and Kate are not overworked yet.
The Queen, Charles, Camilla and Anne are not raising three small children hands on (they let others do it).
