Today's Blind Items - The Lies

At the time it occurred, it was a huge deal. An actor being charged with attempted murder. An actor who had long been in the public eye. He had a lawyer who was well known, but not as well known as he would be a few years later. During the first trial, the actor said he couldn't remember anything from the night. It was not a great acting performance and a couple of the jurors were enticed to make sure things went the right way for the actor. It worked. Not to be deterred, prosecutors tried a different tack. This time the actor was told in no uncertain terms he wouldn't be testifying. Despite the prosecution once again having multiple people testify that the actor was the shooter, many witnesses for the defense were brought in who said they had a party and saw the actor leave long before any shooting. They were all paid. It worked though and the actor walked away a free man.

  4. I’m confused. Blake wasn’t at a party. This happened at an Italian restaurant he frequented

  5. Johnnie Cochran defended him

  6. Todd Bridges a good guess but it looks like he was only tried once and the blind seems to say 2 trials

    1. MD right again. There was no party re Blake. He was alone at the restaurant with his wife. Crazy that he got off and he has had crazy eyes ever since.

  11. The actor would have had to have had a hung jury at his first trial, and then was acquitted at his second trial.

The prosecution should have asked other party goers if those paid witnesses were there, and then have THEM testify they didn't see these people at the party.

  12. Pretty sure Blake was charged with murder and conspiracy or solicitation if memory serves...plus, Bakley was killed so not exactly 'attempted' murder

  13. Blake was acquitted in the criminal case and found liable in the civil case, just like OJ.

  14. Blakely was murdered... not attempted, but actual.

  19. Hi everyone! Long time lurker, this is my second time commenting and to be honest, I’m not even sure if the other went through lol

I just wanted to say that this cannot be Robert Blake as it clearly says attempted murder in the blind. I agree with the guesses of Todd Bridges and Johnnie C for the lawyer as we all know he became famous with OJ a few years later.

I hope everyone is staying safe and sane during this time of uncertain madness. Cheers from Canada!

  20. Todd may have skated out of it but he was broke and blackballed in Hollywood. His life hasn't been easy at all.

  22. Not Robert Blake but since he's been brought up, can anyone explain Lost Highway to me?

  24. Little Mickey Gubitosi, it's as though people forget how exploited he was. He was dead before hit the water. The way It works is: if you keep the secret, you will get moved up the line. Didn't anybody watch poor Kristen Dunst's masterwork on the topic?
