Today's Blind Items - Disappeared

With the death of the permanent A list actor, it reminded me of a story he used to tell but probably hadn't told it in decades. It happened while filming the jungle movie. Even though or actor was really established at that point, accommodations were sometimes a little tight and he had one of his buddies sharing a room with him while in certain locations. The buddy was also an actor and had been in some other movies with the A lister. They had met on the A lister's first movie. Anyway, our basically unknown actor was doing different background scenes and you can see him in multiple places in the movie. The thing is he went missing about month four of shooting. According to the A lister he had met a local girl and this girl was young. We will say she was 18, but our A lister never described her that way. Her story was that our actor would be her first boyfriend ever and they should buy some land together. For about $300 they could get it. That was pretty close to the annual salary in this particular country at the time. So, bring the money we could see the land and then they could be together forever. He went off with her and never came back. It turns out this girl and her dad had been doing this same thing to US service personnel in the country too and had all kinds of scams that used the girl as bait. She then would introduce them to her "dad." They would be robbed, and if they resisted, killed.
