You will never get the timeline to work for the dead 1/100th. That being said, don't focus on the timeline and where he was and when he was there. Focus on the person who knew he would be alone when he returned home. That is where it happened. No witnesses and someone 45 minutes away to make the 911 call after the killer departed.
