Which curvy celebrity with a lucrative fragrance deal and defunct fashion line doesn't like to admit she's packed on a few pounds since the height of her fame? Her assistant has learned to ask for labels of a smaller size sewn into the fashion samples she calls in for her famously tempestuous boss.

ReplyDeletej.lo. beyonce is still pretty high up there. and i dont think house of dereon was her line, it was her mother's and i dont think it's defunct. j.lo had the jlo line and the sweetface line and i dont think they are still around. jlo fell off
ReplyDeleteBoth the J.LO line and the Sweetface line are defunct. One of them was just announced as defunct within the past couple weeks - cant remember which one.

ReplyDeleteJLO. I also read that her line went belly up but I also heard a couple of weeks ago she was in Italy for the opening of her line at a new store.

ReplyDeleteThat's not uncommon at a fashion shoot, to have clips holding a dress together. It's sort of like shopping for a wedding dress, they just squeeze everyone into the same sample.

Jessica Simpson's new line of clothing just hit Macy's and they are featuring the line, plus it's really nice - and her shoe line is very strong on it's own -
ReplyDeleteIt's JLO, they just closed the last of her retail stores and stopped the sweetface line. She's never lost all the baby weight, she's got back fat and insists on wearing clothing that shows backfat. I would say her ego wants to be a 2, but she's an 8 or more.

ReplyDeleteHarriet Hellfire: Kimora's line still sells because it knows its place--it's affordably priced and mass marketed trendy celebri-cheese, so it does well as an off the rack assortment in Penney's "Junior" department. Unassuming, unpretentious price point and retailer = it flies out the door, believe it or not.
JLo's and Lauren Conrad's lines were short on style and workmanship, and every bit as tacky as kimora's but they were high in price. They missed the mark badly. I wonder what will happen w/Victoria Becham's expensive line? Or the Sienna Miller one? Or the Olsen Twins one? Those are pricey for no good reason, especially Sienna's logo tees. Ridiculous.

ReplyDeleteDamn, I bet it killed Jennifer Lopez to have all her clothes lines go belly up. She screwed it up by not thinking she didn't have to sell it daily. But I did read her fragrance line still does good business.
ReplyDeleteThe one thing about Kimora... is she is selling her BabyPhat line 24/7. She spent all those years being a model and must have really paid attention to the business side of it. Plus she kept it priced low. And mass marketed the shit out of it. Smart girl.
Even Jessica Simpson sells the shit out of her line too. Constantly doing appearances and her shoe line at Macy's (and other high end dept stores) is allegedly making a ton of cash for her.
Posh has no interest in selling her line. She has to be just as delusional as Jennifer Lopez about thinking they are that much of a fashion icon. That their name alone will move product. hahaha! NOT!
I fully expect to see Lopez in bankruptcy court with a decade. She is spending alot of cash... not to have that much coming in to replace what is going out.
