Jon Voight Reconciles With Angelina Jolie - Rushes To The Tabloids

I don't know if Jon Voight needed a few bucks or some publicity or just wanted to try and piss off his daughter Angelina Jolie again, but it has to be one of the three because there is just no excuse for rushing to a tabloid (US Weekly) to announce that you and your daughter have finally reconciled.

"We're in touch, but not regularly. We love each other and that's the most important thing."

Yeah, I can see that. Seven years they didn't talk because he told the world she had mental problems and needed help. She stopped talking to him because he couldn't stay out of the limelight and had to be the center of attention and talk to the press about her. So, they finally start talking this year and what does he do? He runs to the press and tells them. What is the deal with screwing over your family and loved ones. Whether it be Michael Lohan or Angelina Jolie or other relatives of celebrities it just seems that all they care about is themselves and don't care about the consequences of their actions and have never heard about putting family first.

  1. I'm not defending him, but it doesn't really seem like he "ran to the tabloids" to say this. Some photog probably asked him a question while he was out somewhere.

He just said that they stay in touch from time to time. It's not exactly like he pulled a Michael Lohan.

  2. She's gonna kick his ass to the curb again, if he's not careful. Then he won't have anything to talk about to the tabloids and once again, become St. Angie's shunned pater.

  3. I agree with Melinda.

Why is it that whenever I think of him, I think senile?

  4. It's been three times: First he said she had mental problems and they were off. They were back on again and he told the world about Maddox before she had a chance to and they were off. Now they're back on and let's wait to see what the result from this will be.

  5. if they indeed reconciled, then fantastic. she's already lost her mom, it'd be sad to not have a dad. i'm w/ melinda on this one...it's just too sensationalist him running to the tabs. now, if he starts lohanizing about how she's shooting up and needs rehab, then that's a different story.

  7. Some people just cannot let go of the spotlight - even if the only reason the spotlight is on them is because of their associations.
Jon Voight had a relatively successful career, however now that he should be literally resting on his achievements and dangling grandchildren on his knee, he's succumbed to the Lohan disease...(I'm (celebrity relationship)... and here's what's going on...)
    So much for the reconciliation.
Personally speaking, I've never been happier to be a grandfather even if it is by proxy.
He should give it a try sometime.

  8. Isabel, I predict it'll be something along the lines of, "Yeah she kissed her brother, but it's okay 'cause he's queerer than pink ink!"

  12. Jon Voight is an IDIOT - I was waiting in an impossibly long line at the LA County Art Museum for a limited exhibit. The line was very long even if you had tickets. Jon just walked to the front of the line, pitched a fit because they told him to wait his turn. He did the "Don't you know who I am?" and caused such mayhem they just let him in to shut him up and keep people flowing. Everyone in line who had been waiting yelled really vile things and continued to harangue him inside the exhibit.

He's another ego maniac who I think would sell their personal life out for attention in a heartbeat.

  13. voight had more than a 'relatively successful career.'
he was nominated for an oscar 4 times and won once. he's a much better actor than his daughter.

having said that, i hate his politics and think he's lost his mind. but back in the day----the 'midnight cowboy' and 'coming home' day---he was a beautiful, wonderful actor.

  14. Give Jon a break! The media is always asking this man has he seen Angelina, or his grandkids yet. And for the past 7 years, it's been no, but he wishes her well and hope to see her and his grandchildren one day.

Well, that day finally came and I'm glad for the both of them. I doubt Jon "ran" to the tabloids. He's the father of Angelina Jolie-Pitt, they are hounding him if anything. US Weekly got what they wanted, first dibs on announcing that Jon and Angelina have reconciled. And IMO, that's just great news, no matter how it's reported or by whom.

  15. @ Sexecution:

What kind of art exhibit was it? Is it still going on? I'll check the museums site for their schedule... I'm a sucker for a good art show.

  16. I still remember that blind about the actress who had a critically acclaimed role and when she sought her actor father's approval he berated her performance.

    JV for sure.

  17. Fame is an addictive drug. For most celebs, it's what the live for. If it keeps your name in the spotlight, then everyone is talking about you, then someone might remember you and they might have project in the works that you would be perfect for you, then you score a gig and some cash. Bam! You're on again. Both of them love the attention.
