"Lindsay Is Sweet & I'm Not"

Taylor Momsen gave an interview to Seventeen Magazine this month. It is always interesting to see what the 16 year old has to say because she doesn't seem to give a crap what anyone thinks about her. She calls it angst. "I'll be angsty until I'm 80 years old. I think that keeps things fresh. But I always think angst is such a derogatory word toward teenagers. It just means you're figuring s*** out."

Taylor who probably makes her publicists cringe says she is tired of being compared to Lindsay Lohan. "I get such a bad rap for being like Lindsay Lohan. I hate naming names because she's really sweet -- and I'm really not. I don't go out. I have no desire to be some tabloid party girl. I'm entirely a loner. I have been my entire life."

Taylor does go out frequently so I don't know what she means by that. I will say when she goes out it is by herself but I always figured it was because there really aren't any 16 year olds she knows who are also interested into going to parties with a bunch of 30 and 40 year olds.

I am anxious to see if she crashes and burns when Gossip Girl ends or if she is going to have some life in her and stick around for awhile. The cover shot of her is more clothes than I have ever seen her in and much less makeup so it looks like her PR people still have some control.

  1. I would say the commonality between her and LiLo are that they both look like 40 year olds. Dang! They need to rest their bodies!

  9. You know, if all else fails, she can market the Trashy Starlet 101 Kit, which includes fried blonde extensions, black kohl eyeliner, false eyelashes, ripped fishnet stockings, black garters, a carton of Marlboro Lights, fucked-up pushy stage mother and VIP passes to The Box and Butter. She can market this just like Lilo markets her leggings. I guarantee it will be a huge hit.

At least it's legal, Chihuahuense! Although my boss might not agree. Thank heavens reveals are never on a work day, I'd be joining the unemployment lines.

  11. teehee@ GailfromMiami. so true!

and i don't get the angst thing? did she not get the memo that the whole angst/emo thing peaked w/ pete wentz and is sooooo jared leto circa 2005? she's a teenager, she should be more in tune w/ trends by default.

  12. I still believe she is lying about her age. She's at least 25, probably 30.

  14. Oh dear god. She's so young and stupid she thinks "angst" is fresh? *head-desk slam*
Please, you're just a richer version of an emo kid.

  15. What she doesn't get is that she's not unique, she's just like lots of teenagers have always been, only she has crappy parents who don't set limits for her.

That's what bugs me about Lady Gaga, too. She think she's unique (and it is unique that she made it in the mainstream) but she reminds me of all the pretentious artsy-fartsy types I knew in college.

  16. Maybe he alcohol and impending new year are making me feel charitable....but I like her. She isn't in your face different like Gaga. She does her own thing the way she wants. She is a lucky, talented, rich young woman and I wish her well.

  17. God I wish they would dump her from the show. She is just a blonder version of Mischa Barton. Thinks she is a movie star but really is just a child actor who lost their "cuteness" a long time ago.

Put a fork in her she's done.

  18. Someone should explain that the Lilo comparison is another way of saying, "You look like you use drugs." It's not because Lindsay is so sweet.

  19. Idk I like her but maybe that's because I can identify with her sans the rich and always going out part. I'm not a ppl person at all, and mooshki I agree about lady gaga, she reminds of some of the losers I went to school with.

  20. Oh and she likes to piss ppl off lol that's always funny

  21. I was a teenager in the early 1990s. I was into the whole teen angst, grunge scene. I remember thinking I was so unique- so non conformist. Ha! I was just like everyone else. Hopefully she'll grow up and realize how silly she sound. But for now, I'll chalk it up to being a dumb kid.

As for Lady Gaga, she is a marketing genius. She dresses the way she does to get photographed, reported and on and talked about. And its working. Even my mom knows who she is. And fact is, the lady has talent too. She wants to be more than a one hit wonder and is doing what she has to do to keep herself in the mags. She reminds me of Madonna circa 1987.

Anyway, everyone have a happy and healthy new year!! Here's to a good 2010!

  24. "I'll be angsty until I'm 80 years old"

Really???? I just not see her making it to 80. She'll be lucky to see 21 the way she's going.

  26. awwww, i thinks its kinda cute...she really is just a typical artistic and angsty teenager. those of us that were teens in the early and mid-90's don't have the teenage angst market cornered, you know? i think all kids who listen to punk music or indie music or whatever will always feel that way.

i think those quotes from her sound exactly what a 16yr old SHOULD sound like. i remember saying ridiculous things like that at that age, and i remember believing them too! it's cute :) it;s not like she's some 24yr old saying this stuff, THEN i would agree with the bashing. but for now, she's just a kid.

  27. I think showing teens that it's all right to be "angsty" (which is in no way what actual "angst" is supposed to mean) is far better than telling them to conform, hide their emotions, being Fakey McFakersons all the time, etc. I was continously nauseated from the very late '90s up to last year seeing that stupid, airheaded, bubblegum crap as the only representations of youth culture, so at least there's an alternative to that. This is also why I will always forgive the "emo" kids too; thank goodness they're not the braindead products of sugary Disneyfied treacliness that I've seen far too many little kids, with their Hannah Montana and Jonas Brothers obsession, espousing.
