Marilyn Monroe Smoking Pot

People just keep figuring out new ways to talk about Marilyn Monroe or make a buck off her. You would think by now every photograph or movie featuring Marilyn would have shown up. Apparently not though because some former friend of Marilyn probably needed a boost to her retirement nest egg so she released a one minute clip of a home video from the 1950's which shows Marilyn Monroe smoking what appears to be pot. Who knows? Is it worth a minute of your time? Sure, why not and Marilyn seems to be giggling and it shows you that even back then people would do crazy things on film. Of course back then there was no internet so people would have had to come over to the friend's house to watch the pot smoking video. Now we just fire up the old YouTube machine and get to watch a piece of history right from our own chair. The movie was silent so I picked out the one with a decent background song.

  1. That's a pretty packed joint, if it is one. How much could this woman possibly make off this? So she's having fun at a party, big deal.

She was so beautiful. She glowed.

  4. 275K. There are a lot of marilyn enthusiasts out there. The part that struck me the most was that this woman had personality. The actresses that dress up like Marilyn for shoots just don't have it...Scarlet and lohan...they can put on a blond wig but they can't capture what makes this woman so intriguing to so many after all these years.

  5. Looks like a regular ciggy to me but so what if it's not. We haven't seen her relaxing casually with friends like this before and she looks wonderful.

  6. She was really beautiful. That's what really stands out. How did she manage to look effortlessly glamourous in a home video? Wow.

  7. I for one think it's a cigarette. Whose to know if this "friend" lied just to up the amount of money she could get for selling the movie? Non?

  8. She is just mesmerizing, even in a home video.

  9. It is true that it looks effortless but it wasn't. I have heard she was really really obsessive about her appearance. She held up movies for hours and hours because she would have to wash off her makeup and reapply over and over and over to get it perfect when there was never anything wrong with it in the first place. She was pretty insecure but she sure was gorgeous...wish she could have been happier with herself.

  10. Good lord, she's stunning. She just has IT.

  11. THAT'S WHAT I WAS THINKING , HOW VERY BEAUTIFUL SHE WAS....

  12. She does look kinda stoned. LOL.

Ah Marilyn, people's obsession with you is still in full swing!

  13. I'm with the folks who think it was a cigarette. Looks like a cigarette to me, she doesn't hold in the smoke and it doesn't get passed around to the other laughing girls. I think it's just a cigarette.

That said, she did have "IT" for sure.

  14. I enjoyed this. She seems really happy in this moment.

  15. I'm on the "it's just a cigarette" train.

  16. It that's a joint, I'm the Easter bunny.

And don't you, well, HOLD THE TOKE for awhile? She smokes it like taking a drag off a cigarette, not a joint, and immediately exhales. Not that I would know, of course.

  17. I think this video is really cute, whatever it is she's smoking. She looks really happy and relaxed which is nice to see considering how tragically her life ended...

  18. In the beginning it appears that someone off camera hands the joint/cigarette to her, and this short video is obviously not one continuous shot. Plus, who's to say she knew how to smoke a joint?

    I think it's pot.

  19. lol..it's a joint,she's lit!

cigarettes were cheap as hell back then..why would you share one with 2 other women? she's not a 13 yo at the mall.

    LOL@Babs

I also think it's just a plain old cigarette.

  21. ... obviously smokin' da REEFER w/ what looks like two Lezzzzzzzzbians...

... BTW... Marilyn Monroe (R.I.P.) = FAKE blonde hair, FAKE 1950s-era plastic surgery face... was a cute girl though... still had her "baby fat" which makes a grown woman attractive to REAL men... not HOMOS who prefer "Heroin chic"/tattooed-up *stick chix*. I believe MM was half-Hispanic as well.

  22. are we sure that's pot? i'm kinda not buying it. sounds more like the 'friend' is just milking the same mm exploitation train so many others have.

  23. In those days, most people smoked handrolled filterless cigarettes. I don't think they even came out with filters for quite some time after that. Looks like shes smoking a cigarette to me.

By the way-totally agree-what a beautiful glowing woman she was. So sad.

  24. She didn't even inhale it..if it was a joint she's not doing it right.

  25. It went for 275k in an auction for Mariyln collectors. The woman who possessed the vid swears it is Marilyn smoking pot. But I dont really care. To me this is why I love technology sooo much~ we are very privalaged to see a fucking HOME VIDEO of Marilyn Monroe chilling at a friends house. And like many of you, I too just sat there, mouth agape, and watching true beauty shimmer and shine on screen. god she was so pretty

    ReplyDelete
  26. p.s. I didnt know Marilyn was half hispanic! Is that true?

    ReplyDelete
  27. .. @ Ice Angel = FAIL.

... you are OBVIOUSLY under 30 - filtered cigarettes were invented in 1925. As well... YouTube search for '50s/'60s TV cigarette ads like Kool & Lucky Strike. None of them were as fat as that joint in the Monroe vid. Hello?

  28. ... Monroe's mom was from Mexico.

    ReplyDelete
  29. ^yes, she was. from piedras negras, to be exact.

wow, mm was so cool, she brought diversity to hollywood before diversity was cool. niiiiiiiiice.

    ReplyDelete
  30. ... and if she didn't inhale she wouldn't be smoking a cigarette right, either... ;)-

.. *that* said... a film showing Marilyn going 'BROKEBACK' w/ the two Lezzzzzbians would certainly go for a LOT MORE than $275K... and it'd be a helluva lot more "Em"teresting too...

  31. She's def. smoking pot.. Her eyes are squinty, she's giggling, she looks completely relaxed. I'm with Jasmine and some of the others who said it, this video actually made me really happy. She was absolutely gorgeous and glowing even in a home video! It is truely a privelege to be able to see her like this, happy and just having fun with friends.

  32. Sorry I meant privilege*

    ReplyDelete
  33. It looks like a cigarette to me, too. BTW, Marilyn's mom, Gladys Baker, was born in Mexico but was of Norwegian/Irish descent.

  34. I read a quote from the woman whose video this is and she said it was her pot

  35. I think for the first time ever, I agree with everything Jax said.

MM lived the era when cigarettes were advertised as 'good for you'. They sponsored everything on t.v. and radio. The most technologically advanced filters and their powers to eliminate harshness were a selling point for many brands.

Plus, she's totally stoned, it's obviously why they included the long snippet after she smoked. MM so obviously stoned is the money shot.

  36. " Marilyn Monroe 'marijuana' film surfaces after five decades

    (AFP) –

NEW YORK — A home movie purporting to show Marilyn Monroe smoking a marijuana joint has surfaced some five decades after being shot at a gathering with friends in New Jersey.

Collector Keya Morgan uncovered the color footage while researching an documentary which he says will prove Monroe was murdered in August 1962.

The reel-to-reel film, which has no sound, shows Monroe relaxing with female friends in a house and smoking.

Morgan said he bought the footage for 275,000 dollars from one of the women present at the meeting in the late 1950s.

Both that woman and a former FBI agent who knew of the footage told him that marijuana, not tobacco was being smoked.

"The reason we know for a fact it's marijuana is the lady who shot it, she's still alive," Morgan told AFP. "She rolled up the joint and handed it over to Marilyn."

The film shows the Hollywood superstar looking happy and playful.

Morgan said his documentary, "Marilyn Monroe: Murder on Fifth Helena Drive," will show that the FBI believed the actress posed a security risk because she was seeing president John F. Kennedy and dabbling in drugs.

"They felt that Marilyn Monroe posed a security threat to the presidency because she was under the influence of marijuana and under the influence of alcohol, and could be a danger not only to herself but also to the presidency," he said.

For that reason, the FBI at the time sought a copy of the footage from New Jersey, he said. "

  37. If pot was the worst drug Norma Jean abused she'd still be alive today!
The 'Secret Life of MM'is the best bio I have read on her and there were very bad drugs in her life, lots of them, all from doctors.
