Angelina Jolie Video Tribute To Her Mom

Yesterday was the third anniversary of the death of Angelina Jolie's mom. So, Angelina and her brother released a video on YouTube in tribute. After they got the publicity they wanted, they started pulling it down. Here is a version for as long as it lasts.

  1. How is this a publicity stunt? If this is the way they want to "honor" their mom, let them. People grieve in different ways.

  2. I thought it was sweet, but strange to be so public.

  3. I watched this yesterday and nearly cried. I found it very sweet. Don't hate me, please.

  4. Why would you put something like that out in the public sphere and then yank it down? Either you want people to see it or you don't. I just..argh! Why do I let these people get my blood pressure up?

  5. no hating sporky, i think its kind of sad too, but i dont understand why they put it up! it just seems so strange, but whatever works for them i guess

  6. for someone who takes great pains in maintaining privacy, she sure had a change of heart. privacy be damned in the name of pr that'll detract from breakup rumors...

  7. I'll admit, I am a little befuddled as to why it was put up on Youtube, as opposed to just shared with friends and family...but I don't think there's any denying Angelina and James had a mom who loved them.

Since I have a mom who appears to hate me, it just made me sad for what I never had. Plus I'm hormonal right now. :/

  8. Maybe Jon Voight put it up.

If something happened to my mom I wouldn't know what to do.

  9. just because they made the video and it ended up on Youtube doesn't mean THEY put it there. anyone who received a copy could have done it.

i think it was sweet. i see no reason for Angie to exploit her mother for publicity, even if it does fall this week with all the rumours.

her brother on the other hand...

  10. Yup they had a loving mom.
I think they both got the 'kook' gene from Voight!

  12. I HAVE NO IDEA AS TO THE WHY...BUT I THINK OF MY MOM EVERYDAY AND IT'S A LOT LONGER THAN 3 YEARS SINCE SHE'S BEEN GONE....
HOWEVER I DO THINK ANGIE HAS ISSUES SHE CAN'T SEEM TO WORK THROUGH IN REGARD TO HER MOTHER...SHE NEEDS TO GET HELP..

  13. Big hug out to you Sporky - I am a mom and the daughter doesn't mind sharing once and awhile so I'll send you a big hug, a kiss on the forehead and a nice warm smile..how's that?

  14. Aw, redronnie, you got a deal!

    *hugs redronnie and smiles*

    Your daughter's very lucky. :)

I don't trust people that say one thing and end up doing something else.

  16. it's not exploiting anything--they're trying to keep her memory alive in the hearts of others. people grieve in different ways. you can't judge those who are bereaved.

  17. regardless of the intention of whoever put this up on youtube, i learned that marcheline bertrand seemed to really love her kids and was a caring mother. the video centers around her and her love and beauty -- it seems to come from the perspective of two children who miss their mother a great deal.

  18. Can you say "distract from the breakup rumors?"

  19. That was sad to watch. They must miss their mother terribly.

  20. it is a publicity stunt if what Mooshki said is true or if she's just trying to show people how "human" she is...

it's so hard to tell what Jolie's real motives are with anyhing she does.

    ReplyDelete
  21. regardless of the motives the video was beautiful as was their mothers evident love for them.

Hugs to you sporky. My mom was not a lover either. Which just makes me hug my children tighter everyday :)

  22. Angelina is a nut, so no knowing what compels her to do what she does, including cutting herself, doing heroin, adopting and birthing numerous children, stealing husbands... Her brother is a bit of a kook, too. Marcheline seems very sweet, but when you produce two whacko kids, well... the fruit usually doesn't fall far from the tree. :-/

  23. I think it's disgusting for anyone to accuse her of exploiting her mother's death. We don't know who posted this video, but even if it was her she probably didn't think it would end up on sites like this one and perezhilton ( which are difficult to tell apart these days). When it comes to loss and grieving can we just step away from the computer and stop judging? This isn't gossip. It's just a way for a group of strangers to feel like they're better than everyone.

  24. Beautiful video. But I don't understand the reasons either.

  25. @ sporky and miss:
i have two children that have been a handful, and a two month old granddaughter that i want to see everyday but don't seem to be allowed to.
i'll adopt you both, i seem to have more than enough love to go around.

  26. Having lost my mother a bit less than 2 years ago, it didn't seem exploitative to me--I simply saw love & permanent loss & a beautiful celebration of their mother--alive & with her children in a place she loved.

When your mother dies--& I don't think it's because my mom was an actress too (at most she was maybe known within legit theater circles)--it's NOT exploitative to give everyone an opportunity to see the warmth & beauty she brought to all she did & everyone she met. It is just a means of dealing with the grief. I shared memorial slideshows, & yes, even posted one on UTube. I had the same impulse to share her loveliness w/EVERYONE. No one else has to watch it, but feels good to have it out there.

What I saw in the Marchand video was not PR; just a tribute to a mother from her children. They still feel her loss, & want to remember her in a happy, positive way.

  27. I thought it was a lovely tribute, but isn't YouTube a bit lowbrow for a star of Angie's caliber?

    Stunt!!!

Anything to divert from the tabloid's report of a split! Kinda disgusting actually. If it were from someone non-famous, I agree it would be really touching and a great testament to her memory. But from someone famous, who on top of it guards their privacy. Stunt!

  29. I should clarify - I don't think the video itself was propoganda, but the fact that it was publicized this week.

  30. Maybe she really does miss her mom. She doesn't have any girl friends, well, we never see her with girl friends and that female connection is such a life saver.

I feel bad for Angelina. She is so beautiful that women have most likely been mean to her.

My son was splashing the hottest mom at the pool a couple of years ago and I was so intimidated when I went to apologize for him stalking her she turned out to be the nicest mom at the pool.

I'd be your friend, Angie, but I have a really filthy sense of humour and always say the wrong thing. There's a good friend out there for you somewhere! Dump Brad, he sucks.

    Haha...

  31. I didn't take it as an exploitative bid for publicity..seriously? All AJ has to do is show up, it doesn't matter where and every photo is endlessly discussed and analyzed! I thought it was sweet and touching, and of course I cried! How dare anyone tell anyone how to grieve their loss! But then, I am from the South and we generally carry our Mama's around on silk pillows (figuratively of course) and treasure them until they pass then treasure their memory until we die.

  32. It has been 4 years since my Mother suddenly died. It was 3 before I could look at a photo and not breakdown. It is the worst heartbreak I ever had.

No way it is (her) PR stunt.

    ReplyDelete
  33. What the F ever. Look at Angelina's history and you will see a stunt just like this every single time there is ugly press about her. Right after the rumors of her split from Brad she decides to publicly grieve her mother's passing. Right after she shoves her tongue down her brother's throat she focuses the media on charity work. She does this crap EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I don't believe there's a more cunning person in Hollywood than Angelina Jolie. SUCK IT.
