My plug goes to my band, Death is not a joyride. Voting for the Austin Music Awards has started, and we're up for the BEST EXPERIMENTAL and NONE OF THE ABOVE categories, respectively. Last year, we actually won best experimental, and placed 4th in none of the above. The link is listed here, and you only have to vote once. Please forward this out to as many people as you know.
Voting ends on January 28th. Thanks again guys, gals, and Ents.

    Love,
    d

PS: Hurt Locker needs to win an award.

    What will win:
    1. Up in the air
    2. Hangover
    3.up
    4.true blood
    5.glee

Hangover is the one I'm iffy on, it seems too boys club for the 100 old people from the hfpa.

If you haven't seen An Education or A Single Man they were my faves for the year.

    1. None - I would go with Avatar but its "dramatic" dimension was actually the weak spot of the movie.
    2. (500) Days Of Summer
    3. Up
    4. Dexter
    5. The Office

    #3. Fantastic Mr. Fox
    #4. Dexter
    #5. The Office

  17. If either Mad Men or Dexter win for #4, I'll be happy. I'm obsessed with both shows.

Here's my plug: for every comment on this post through Sunday night, I'm donating to the Red Cross for Haiti relief. Details here: http://lorimac.blogspot.com/2010/01/do-goodery.html

  18. 1 - I'd pick Inglourious basterds, but I think "Precious" will take it.

    2 - Julie & Julia.

3 - Haven't seen any of these, but I think "Up" will win.

4 - I am torn. I am a huge fan of Big Love, Dexter, and True Blood. I think Dexter will win.

5 - I would vote for 30 Rock, but I think Glee will take it. Haven't seen Modern Family yet but I hear it's quite good.

  20. I just hope that whoever wins gives a good drunken speech. That's what the Globes are all about.

The only movies I've seen are It's Complicated and The Hangover and even though both were good, don't deserve to win anything, IMO.

  21. Lori! that's awesome!

  26. I'm hoping Glee gets some love!

And for my plug: well, I have a new novel coming out in a week and a half, so I'd be remiss not to mention that!

It's called The Lunatic, the Lover, and the Poet and it's a prequel to Shakespeare's Hamlet based on the premise that the prince was actually gay!

It's full of gender-bending, cross-dressing, and Shakespearean jokes, tropes, and quotes. I think CDAN fans (especially everyone who tore up the internet with me trying to figure out Timmy/Shimmy) might really dig it.

Best Musical or Comedy - Julie and Julia

    Best Animated - Up

Best TV Drama - No Choice don't get HBO, Showtime nor AMC and don't as a rule watch Fox so who am I to judge shows I've never seen?

#2 Best Movie - Musical Or Comedy

    (500) Days Of Summer

    #3 Best Animated Movie

  50. Globes- the only one i care about is #4, Dexter, i would really love to see this show get the recognition it truly deserves. Honestly feel its the best show on tv and frankly think it should have gotten another nomination in that jennifer carpenter's work this season was phenomenal.

Plug-- check out www.imec.org to see what they are already doing on the ground in Haiti and how you can get involved.

Finally- if you live in Mass and are interested in universal health care as a basic human right considering how close we are to achieving this in the US, think about that before you vote for Scott Brown on Tuesday. Think about uninsured kids and adults with lifethreatening conditions. I know Coakley is not perfect but there is too much at stake to get caught up in this "upset" being pushed...and please get out and vote on Tuesday.

    Thats all!
