Shelley Malil Testifies

I guess I should have been prepared for this considering Shelley Malil's attorney said they were going to use it as a defense, but I can't believe the guy actually said this story under oath. Seriously, I don't know how he said it with a straight face or how the jurors kept from laughing.

"I'm sorry. I had no idea. I saw the pictures (of her wounds) for the first time, I was stunned. When I look at those pictures, I still can't believe the knife I was holding was responsible for all those injuries."

Malil expanded on what his attorney had said earlier. Malil says that he did not know he was stabbing his ex-girlfriend but thought it was her boyfriend and only doing so in self defense. He says that the boyfriend made a move and Malil reached for a knife and then the guy was gone. So, in the dark, Malil came around a corner, got hit in the head and said he thought the boyfriend was there with a gun so he slashed out and thought he was stabbing the boyfriend. Instead he stabbed his ex-girlfriend 20 times.

This of course contradicts everything his ex-girlfriend said. She said that Malil reached out to hug her and then she was repeatedly stabbed.

  1. Astounding defense. Wonder if the jury was amused?

  2. I can't believe he sat on the witness stand, under oath, and said all this wih a straight face. It's beyond ludicrous.

  3. He does realize he's not going to get an award for this, doesn't he?
