Why Is Everyone Shocked About Dancing With The Stars?

Every headline I have read so far about the result from Dancing With The Stars says it is a shocker that Kristin Cavallari got kicked off the show. How is that a shock? I don't care if she got a 24. No one knows who she is. This is not American Idol where everyone is a no name and talent usually prevails. I would venture to say half the people who vote on this show or more have never watched The Hills. Even if they have watched The Hills, how many specifically remember Kristin unless you watched it more than a few times. Bringing in the ex-boyfriend does not really help because football players are largely anonymous because they wear helmets. Outside of Chicago, most people do not know what Jay Cutler looks like and does a crappy quarterback really help your chances of staying on?

It is all about if the average person knows who you are. If you have that and some talent you can win. Robert Kardashian. How does he stay on? Well, unfortunately unlike when his sister was on the show, people know and recognize who Kim is so when she shows up every week, Robert gets some of that popularity. It won't be enough for him to win the show but it moves him past the likes of Kristin. Hope Solo was in the bottom and she was saved because people would much rather vote for a soccer player from one of the most exciting teams ever that riveted a nation rather than someone who showed up on MTV once a week for a few years in an ensemble cast.

  2. The cast has no cache for me this year. So don't care about any of them.

I agree with you that MTV reality show castoffs do not a celebrity make.

Kim Kardashian was awful when she was on. Unfortunately, she is way more famous now than when she was on DWTS.

  3. She danced much better than several other contestants so being voted out so soon was somewhat surprising. I have to agree with Bruno (or was it Len) who said that she may not have gotten votes because people thought she was safe.

It's happened before, it'll happen again.

  4. Plus Kristin is just SOOOO bland!! She looks like every other skinny boob-implanted LA blond, absolutely indistinguishable. There is nothing exciting or interesting about her dancing. Plus, oh yeah, she's done nothing of interest.

I'm pulling for JR Martinez to win it.

  5. I thought they judged on dancing and not on popularity?? That right there tells me the show is shit.

  6. I wasn't surprised, though I would have thought a partner of Mark Ballas would have gone further.

It's all so bogus the way they do these eliminations. The couples they say are in jeopardy very often do not actually have the lowest combined score. It's just part of the game they play.

  7. @Tenisha, it's a combination of the judges' scores (skill) and audience votes (popularity).

  8. I love to watch dancers, but I have always found this show cheesy and BORING. I'm embarrassed to see the costumes, even. So - why is everyone shocked? Why does anyone care?? Ah - to each his own.

  9. I bet people who watched The Hills were even less likely to vote for her than people who had never heard of her.

  10. this season is not interesting to me. and i hate nancy grace, so i won't watch her dance. i saw a little last night and it a awful! david a's dance was embarassing, i had to change the channel. some woman in a black lace dress was thrusting her pelvis in a very unnatural and vulgar way; not sex. again i changed the channel. kristen is irritating because she always seems to be talking aboout being a celebrity. do you really do that if you are one?

  11. just give the mirror ball to jr and be done with it. by far the crappiest cast this season and the dancers seem to have given up.. sad to see mark go though... he is one of the funnest dancers and best choreographers on the show.
