Today's Blind Items - Little Girl Lost
It is amazing this barely out of her teens actress could even function with what she grew up with. You think you know who I am talking about, but you really need to read the clues today because I'm being tricky. She grew up in an environment that just screamed she was not going to be able to make it or was going to turn out really messed up. She does have problems, and they are significant, but she manages to almost look like she is functioning at a normal level. She has a B list actor for a dad. Well, maybe B-. His best days are behind him now. He set her up for failure. His drug problems are legendary and he brought them home and brought home lots and lots of women. She used to hear it all going on very night and learned all about relationships from him and the way he treated women. Is it any wonder that she will sleep with two or three guys in a weekend? Any wonder that she equates sex with love? That is what she saw with her dad. Drugs? She thought they were normal and when her dad would give her a little taste when she was young, he was just having fun and didn't know it would lead her to become a drug addict at such a young age. She actually has fought through most of the drugs and the clutches they bring. Sure she uses, but not like she did when she was 15 or 16. Now it is just some coke or pot and she stays away from the heroin. That was the hardest for her to shake. You would think she would need the drugs to escape the memories of her dad's friends and how they would grope her and make her dress up for them. Because her dad never stopped them she thought it was fine and she thinks it's fine now when a director wants to sleep with her or touches her. She has tried the boyfriend route but it never works for her, because she just can't be with one guy. She wants to love but does not know how. She needs direction, but her dad barely has time for himself and can't be bothered. He has a career too.

ReplyDeleteMy first impression is Emma Roberts, but I think Eric peaked at C level, and that's being generous. I also wonder about Enty's warning, that the obvious guess is the wrong one. For now, that's two reasons for me to rule out Emma and Eric.

ReplyDeleteMy first thought was Tatum and Ryan, but then it becomes obvious this is a more current, working family. I like the Eric and Emma Roberts guess. The 'direction' clue in the final sentence kind of seals for me, he's like Fred Savage, they both do more directing than acting now.

ReplyDeleteI would say Eric Roberts definitely has hit B list a couple of times in his career. Having said that, it's not clear to me that this is him/Emma, because her IMDb bio specifically states she grew up with her mother. I actually thought that Eric's 'abandoning' of her was one of the reasons he and Julia don't get along (?).

ReplyDeleteIt says "barely out of her teens" so not Tatum. Emma and Eric Roberts seem almost TOO obvious, though I agree with those who say he never quite made it to "B" level. I kinda like the Bruce/Rumer guess, except that Bruce was probably "A" at his peak.

Eric Roberts was B list maybe 25 years ago. I'd never describe him as a B- list now though, Don Johnson fits that description better.

And where it said she can't be with just one guy made me think Party of Five but I don't think any of those actresses have B list dads. I think if we can pick out the clues we will get this.
Clutches means something, I think. Too odd of a phrase to not be a clue.

ReplyDeleteI really think it's her. I think the clue "clutches" and even the title "little lost girl" is a reference to The Legend of Zelda nintendo games, because Zelda is "lost" and the point of the game is to to be rescue her from the clutches of evil.

I'm not seeing any clues to really hang onto here -- The Roberts guess doesn't stand up because as someone pointed out he's been married since 92 and I can't imagine his wife tolerating the whole scene (friends over, using, bringing home women to loudly bang, friends molesting daughter in front of mother, etc.?), so I have no idea who this could be.

Kiefer has never been known for doing drugs, he drinks. ALso when he's in a relationship, married or otherwise, he's monogamous, and also is not a playboy. Don't think it's Sarah. Also Kiefer's best days aren't behind, he was on Bway this past summer and received tremendous reviews.

The only reason I don't buy Zelda W. (aside from the fact that I'm trying hard to make it be Sarah S.) is that Robin was an A back in the day, right? I mean he was huge - Oscar win and everything. Now, sure, he's B-, but not back then.

ReplyDeleteHe won for supporting actor. Plus he's a comedian. Comedians in general aren't held up as high in the industry as normal actors. So even with the Oscar I would consider Robin to be in the B range, especially now. I think he has A list name recognition.. But I wouldn't categorize him as A list.
ReplyDeleteAn Oscar doesn't automatically guarantee you'll be A list forever. A list is someone who can carry a movie on their own name alone (aka Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Cameron Diaz, Sandra Bullock). B list means you can carry a movie, as long as you have another B list actor headlining with you. Catherine Zeta Jones won an Oscar, but is a B list. She cannot carry a movie on her own name without another B list or A list actor to headline with her. Being married to Michael Douglas, brings her into an A list couple status in Hollywood.
ReplyDeleteEric Roberts had a big drug problem. He's probably a B- actor...or at least was at one time. He's actually a really great actor, that I personally think is underrated (as an actor only), where his sister is completely overrated.
Now if this is Eric Roberts, which I think it is....he's a pig.

ReplyDeleteRobin Williams will always be at least B+, but I can see how Enty might think of him as B- at the moment. His drug problems are "legendary" due to being involved in Belushi's OD death. But his kids were raised in SF, far from the Hollywood sleaze.
ReplyDeleteEric Roberts was definitely B+ in his Star 80/Pope of Greenwich Village days. But, as self-absorbed as she is, I can't see Julia Roberts letting her niece get mired in industry sleaze. Same same for Kiefer's daughter: Donald may have let Kiefer run wild, but I'd expect him to have stepped in if his granddaughter was being abused and developing a serious drug problem in her teens.
Sounds like someone more obscure, plus Enty hinted he's fudging the clues.

The blind says that the actor is now B list, or possibly -B. It says "his best days are behind him" which leads me to think that he was A list in his past, but now he's B. So I think Robin Williams fits because he was an A list actor, but now he's considered B.
ReplyDeletecrila has it exactly right - Eric is an extremely talented actor, and back in the day he was definitely B list, I saw him on Broadway, he was incredible but also well-known - this was in the later 80s.

And I still don't think it's Kiefer. He's a Canadian gentleman and responsible EXCEPT with alcohol, I get pissed with him about that.
I don't think this is Kiefer Sutherland, and besides, wouldn't her be more accurately described as an A list TV actor at this point? His best days are also certainly not behind him having just come off of a super hit TV show, a Broadway run, and now headlining a new TV show.

I don't think it's Zelda Williams. I've heard stories from people who worked with Williams when he would tour. It was always booze and drugs, never women. It seemed away to keep himself going more than anything.
I feel like the director clue is the key to this blind; Kiefer is acting right now; does Robin Williams direct anything?
ReplyDeleteAlso, regardless of what his preferences were, Kiefer Sutherland has seemed remorseful about past bad behavior and the consequences (i.e. affecting 24 when he was in jail). I would venture to guess he wouldn't let his kid follow that path.
ReplyDeletefor those questioning william's a list status, at one point i'd say he was a++ list. his total box offic is like 3.5 billion and with inflation hes at 5 billion. plus an oscar. admittedly fallen on hard times of late, star power wise, but its only 2 years removed from his 180 mil or so night at the smithsonian. Also, made some great movies, as good as the stinkers he made were bad.

@La_Rock Robin William wasn't a lead in the Night at the Museum movies. He was a supporting role. That was an ensemble cast technically starring Ben Stiller.

His Oscar doesn't necessarily keep him at A list. He won a supporting actor oscar, which wouldn't make anyone automatically jump to A-list status.
His last successful movie that he carried was probably Patch Adams, and that was in 1998.

ReplyDeleteThe whole basis of this blind is that the daughter was strongly influenced by the *presence* of her father. That rules out Emma and Eric Roberts since he was not a presence in her life.

Lenny being in the first film does not guarantee that he will be in all of them, unless the director(s) modifies the books.

Could "clutches" have to do with auto racing? Either as a hobby, or as a portrayal in a film? Lots of people did voices in the animated film, Cars -- Tim Allen, Michael Keaton, etc.

Ohh i just remebered something reading thru some of the later guesses.. I remeber a couple of photos surfacing around 4-5 years ago where Melanie Griffith was caught smoking with Dakota who looked really down and out. What was said between the lines were that Dakota was heading to rehab soon. But the same here with her dad Don Johnson, is he really B/B-? I'm reading it as he is B list at the moment, not that he peaked at B but I guess this is what enty meant with it being tricky.

ReplyDeletei like the dakota johnson guess. not sure who she spent the most time with after her parents' divorce but her parents were married and together until 1996 so don would have been a daily presence in her life until the age of 7 at least (she was born in 89). his problems with drugs and women are well-documented, and it's known that dakota went to rehab in 2007 which would explain how she "shook" the heroin.
ReplyDeleteits weird theres no mention of the mother though - almost reads like a single dad raising her or maybe a divorced dad with joint custody/visitation? only thing with dakota is that don johnson got married again in 1999 and has three kids with that woman so its a little weird to think of all this going down in his house with his new wife and three young kids. but maybe it all happened before 99, so when dakota was 10 and younger? ew.
also lack of reference to the mom might be because it would make it too obvious, since dakota's mom is also famous. any reference to that would clearly rule out the roberts, the williams, the sutherlands, etc. oh not the kravitzs i guess but i wouldn't call lenny a b-list actor, he's a musician. he's only had a couple acting roles.

I'm going to guess that it is NOT Dakota Johnson or any of the Willis kids because Enty would have surely mentioned that they also had a famous mother who was being neglectful. This would have to be a girl who lived with her father all or at least part of the time for all of this to have happened to her unabated. I think it is very strange that there is no mention at all of this girl's mother. Are there any famous (B level is pretty famous) actor who raised his daughter more or less alone?

ReplyDeleteI think this is Dakota. Her dad's best days (Miami Vice and Nash Bridges) are behind him. He has always had drug problems and can't keep it in his pants. Even when married with kids at home (and three kids at home with the newer wife would keep one pretty busy while trying to keep a career). My husband worked on Nash Bridges with him and said he was awful. He dated the actress who played his daughter on the show while in the show and could never get to work on time, either. He finally had to have a minder, I recall, to keep him to his contract...Wasn't surprising when he had money issues eventually. Plus, Melanie isn't exactly the best role model for a mom, either.
ReplyDeleteRegarding Emma Roberts about 5 or 6 years ago someone on ONTD said they had some gossip on her but they didn't want to divulge it in public(then why bring it up in the first place?). I PMed them. Allegedly she was a major Cokehead who would bring her male co-stars into her trailer and have her way with them.

I think Jack Nicholson's daughter would have been a great guess because his best days are behind him. He also just had a birthday yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI also like Dakota Johnson as a guess, but her mother would have been mentioned in the blind. It seems Don up and forgot Dakota once he remarried for the fourth time. He married a rich socialite, and they have quite a few kids now.
If it was Emma Roberts, how come Julia was not mentioned? Julia raised Emma for a few years too if I remember correctly. Oh, Julia Roberts is a lefty so maybe Emma is too.

Dakota sounded good except that Antonio Bandaras was her stepdad for most of her life. Didn't Melanie Griffith also have her drug issues? But the blind doesn't mention mom. It makes it sound like DAD was the primary influence...not like typical visitation daddy. I'm stuck.

ReplyDeleteRobin Williams raised his kids outside Hollywood and -- though he cheated on his first wife with the babysitter -- he didn't run through a string of women and post-marraige #2, his life has been quite stable. Not her.
Zoe Kravitz is actually incredibly mature and responsible and Lenny's best days are not behind him; also, would Enty seriously not mention music in the blind at all? Not her.
Dakota Johnson wouldn't be a bad guess -- after all, she went to rehab super young -- but would Enty really not have mentioned that he mom is more famous than her dad? That makes no sense. (Also, Don Johnson a B-lister now?) Not her.
Rumer has the same problem as Dakota; would Enty really not have mentioned Demi in the blind at all? Also, I think the blind would have alluded to her siblings given that she has 2 not disimilarly aged/almost equally famous sisters. Not her.
I think the key is finding an only child 20-25 year old actress either raised by a single dad or who shared custody with a non-famous mom relatively equally.
Shaun, Drew Barrymore was in my head reading this too. But her dad is dead (2004).

ReplyDeleteHenriette, Don dated a much older woman (rich socialite) about 10-12 years ago or so. But he didn't marry her. Instead, he ended up marrying a elementary school teacher, who is not in the biz. They have three kids together, though Don has Dakota with Melanie and a son from an affair with Patti D'Arbanville (I probably spelled her name wrong).

EmEyeKay, hubby also said that because he couldn't get to the set (too much intoxication), they finally had to charge him everytime he was late to the set. It got docked out of his contract.
ReplyDeleteI was always a huge fan of his back during Miami Vice, he's just so charismatic, even though I know he's a total pig/dog. I saw him once, in person, in 2001 up at GhostBar in Las Vegas. We exchanged a glance for just mere seconds, and I could tell, he definitely has no problem getting women regardless of being a pig or married or what have you...It's that mischevious quality to him.(He was with his entourage, I was with my boss and coworkers, nothing happened.)
So, I'm back with more pro-Sutherland arguments. Kiefer was married to Camelia Kath for 3 years; looks like a shotgun situation based on the dates. She was an actress when they married, but her last credits are as an executive assistant on The Nanny in 1999.

She's 10 years older than Kiefer, and was widowed by Terry Kath of the band Chicago back in 78.
Anywhoo, just trying to make the argument that perhaps Sarah was with Kiefer most of the time due to her mom's relative lack of employment. Kiefer was remarried from 96 to 04, which would have been when Sarah was ages 8 to 16.
And per Vanity Fair, she attended the Crossroads School in Santa Monica on her dad's nickel.
Ok, I officially know too much about these people now.
Don't think it's Eric Roberts. I remember a blind about a Dad who called the club where his daughter was making an appearance and warned them that his daughter had better not be served alcohol at the event. Eric Roberts was the reveal, I think.

M I met DJ back when he was doing Miami Vice. He is an utter pig. I was 12 at the time and he just oozes smarmy. It almost felt like he was trying to flirt with me. Granted I looked older than 12 but he was briefed on me before I met him. He knew how old I was. I was able to meet him because the producers were thinking of supporting a new charity. I happened to be visiting a friend in Miami. Her mother knew someone who worked on the set. So it was arranged that I would meet both guys & talk about my disease. DJ never asked about it. He came out in his robe & the first thing out of his mouth was "How would you like a kiss from me?" I thought ewww disgusting. Since then I've never been able to watch anything he's been in. He just disgusted me that much.

ReplyDeleteSifichick, that is gross. I had two bosses at the time of the Ghostbar siting. The second boss told me a story of how when the were filming "The Hot Spot" Melanie was in the hospital having or had just had Dakota and Don was doing some serious hitting on my bosses friend. I can't remember now, if she was a nurse in the hospital or how her path crossed his, but my boss was thoroughly disgusted by his behavior especially based on the circumstances. I remember all the icky DJ stories now, whenever I see him on the screen or in the pictures. I'll add yours to the collection now, too. :D

Shake and failure would also relate to vehicular issues. Have no idea how they'd relate to any of the guesses though, frantically looking through lists of driving movies or similar for ideas!

I remember when he started dating her because it made the rounds in social circles around here. She is a year older than me. With all her money, I could never figure out why he filed for bankruptcy.
I understand Little Girl Lost is the name of the biography of Drew Barrymore, I also remember she was the subject of a blind together with Melanie Griffith (sleeping in a bed with the same guy, being abused by him etc). Since Melanie Griffith is Dakota's mom, I think it's her, with the Drew Barrymore connection and all. Especially because Enty states in the beginning of the blind after talking about little girl lost 'you think you know who I mean now, but read the clues'. The title is actually the first clue.

ReplyDeleteI also don't think that it's Zelda Williams - like others have said, Robin's been married basically the whole time. I can't see this being them. Though Robin has had his drug (& alcohol) issues, he still comes across as a fairly good father.
I think it's Dakota Johnson myself - if Enty mentioned the mother (and how much of a hot mess she is/was), it would have given it away.
I really, really don't think it's Kiefer. He's a drunk, but never heard of him doing drugs, especially heroin. (I'd always heard it was Jason Patric, just off of "Rush" where he played a heroin addict that got Julia into it.) I've also heard Kiefer talk about his ex-wives with the utmost respect, and his daughters. Just can't see it being him.

I don't think this is Emma/Eric. To me, they are the most obvious so they rules them out. Enty has posted about Emma before, or at least revealed a blind or two about her, I think. There were a lot of drug rumors before she turned 18, and talking about how she was out of control.

Johnson - Very possible, except wasn't Don mainly a drunk? I don't remember hearing any stories about serious drugs with him--certainly not heroin or anything like that. In Pamela Des Barres' autobiography "I'm with the Band", she mentioned that he went to rehab for alcohol--not drugs. Then again, he did start his affair with Melanie when she was 14 and he was 22, so the creep factor is definitely there.
Roberts - Very possible. I would totally classify Eric as B or B-, he's working a lot, and he has serious past drug issues. Even if he made a stink about Emma drinking at a club--in fact because he did--he obviously doesn't trust her judgement when she's alone. And because he did it once doesn't mean that was representative of his parenting skills always. It may have been an exception to the norm. Drug addicts, recovering or no, are not known to be the most stable sort. Control issues remain.
Conclusion: I have no idea.
The more I read everyone's comments/analysis, the more I think it's Don Johnson/Dakota

ReplyDeleteI really like Keifer as an actor, but based on the clues I have to agree that it might be him. He is known for a prior drug problem, not just booze. There are a couple references to time, and with "24" in his past, he barely has time for himself and his best days are behind him. I hope it's not him.
