Woman Wins $5.8M In Lawsuit Against Girls Gone Wild

Anything that can hurt Joe Francis' wallet just a little bit more is something I'm all for. Tamara Favazza sued Girls Gone Wild because she claimed that one of the producers had pulled down Tamara's top and filmed her breasts without permission. Tamara didn't realize this happened until about three months after her wedding when one of her husband's friends was watching porn and noticed Tamara. Tamara says she was mortified and that some of her family members shunned her. A judge sided with Tamara and awarded her $5.8M.

Here is what I think happened. Tamara was drunk at a club and she admits she was lowering her top a lot and the producer probably did lift the short, but Tamara did know she was being filmed and assumed no one would find out. When they did, she sued. Like I said, anything that takes money away from Joe Francis, I support 100%. I just think there is more to this story than we are necessarily hearing.

  1. i thought they had to sign waivers to be on ggw. at least to prove they are over 18

  2. Yeah I thought so too. Must have been an impressive legal push to actually win this case.

  3. He is such a pig and I am glad she won the lawsuit.

  4. Haaaaate Joe Francis. I was in Florida with 3 friends when we were 16, one friend was 15. GGW talked my friends into showing their boobs for GGW gear. Since they weren't legal yet, they just didn't film it.

  5. ^That is disgusting and criminal of the GGW people!

  6. Ugh, I just got a horrible flashback of when I was a teenager and GGW was huge (you know, where late night tv was knee-deep in the GGW commercials). Three boys were trying to get me and my friends to flash their video camera. I didn't do it, of course, but my friend did. And a girl we knew stripped down to just her panties and ran around. This was in a public parking lot at night, by the way. I had forgotten all about that... I wonder what happened to the tape? Also, that friend is now a mom of four... I can only imagine how mortified she'd be if something like what happened to this girl happened to her.

So anyway, sorry for the trip down memory lane. I originally was going to comment and say that this feels awfully fishy, but I am just going to keep my mouth shut. Also, I have never been so thankful to have body issues as a teen! Everyone has stupid things that they've done in the past... I am just glad that mine reside solely in my memories and not on film.

  7. I too thought/assumed there were waivers involved. I know of at least one other case involving GGW and an underaged girl but she had signed a waiver. The question was whether she was too drunk to fully understand the waiver at the time.

In these situations, spring break deals and whatnot, more often than not the girls are drunk and flashing everybody anyways, regardless of whether there are cameras around. I'm inclined to think there was definitive proof she was taken advantage of...5.8 million is a pretty big damages.

Either way, I too am glad she won.

Lolz though...can you imagine -- "Hey, um...so i was watching some girls gone wild the other night, and totally saw your wife man". Awk-ward!

  8. I wonder if they film the girls signing the waivers? Then they'd have something to show in court if the question came up (I was too drunk to understand what I was signing). That's what I'd do if I was a sleazewad who wanted to cover my ass...

I hate GGW - I hate the idea of it, I hate that moron Joe Francis, I hate that girls will actually DO this - I hate all of it. I hope more women win judgments and the company goes broke.

  9. Did you mean NOT know?

"Tamara was drunk at a club and she admits she was lowering her top a lot and the producer probably did lift the sh[i]rt, but Tamara did [not] know she was being filmed and assumed no one would find out."

  10. He is such a skeevy douche. Who'd think that some stupid idea like that (go around to college campuses and get drunk girls to make out with each other and show their boobs) would make this turd a jillionaire. Ugh.

  12. This happened in my hometown, in a popular nightclub. the camera crew did not have anyone sign waivers, they simply posted signs around the bar. And on the video Tamara was seen dancing, and when the producer pulled at her top she was clearly seen saying "no". GGW got what they deserved.

  13. @snapdragon, I'm sure that is what Enty meant...he is the king of typos. I didn't even notice the mistake!

  14. @Halle I suspect the type of man who does this has a very small penis and was shunned by the popular girls when a teenager.

Hence his one man mission to reduce all women to objects.

  15. I tried that and they charged me with I indecent exposure and put me on a list

  16. When I lived in Panama City, Fl, they used to come down every spring break and film suuuper drunk girls and coerce girls to do things that they would never do sober. They would encourage the girls to drink more and a lot of times the girls were not 18. In fact, I remember one of my friends getting topless for them and she was barely 15.

  17. while her behavior wasn't the wisest, anything that puts a dent in that skeezebucket's wallet is something i'm ok with. go her!

  18. GGW skeeves me on so many levels. You guys MUST read the article written by the LA Times reporter who was basically assaulted by Joe Francis. Fascinating read.

I honestly have no time for people who watch this or people who participate in it.

And if a random bunch of dudes rolled up to me while I was a college girl or in my twenties, asking me to flash some boobie, I would kick them in the balls and say hell to the no. Who does this shit?

  19. Dang she got lucky winning that case. I hate me some Joe Francis with a vengeance, but if I were a judge I probably would have thrown this case out (based on just the info given here)

  20. I want to know why there *must* be more to the story. Why? Because she was at a bar drinking? Why is this considered so unwise? People do it all the time, it doesn't give someone the right to pull your top down. She could have easily not noticed the filming even if she was sober.

  21. Seriously Enty, I want to know how you came up with what you think happened.

I'm giving this girl the side eye, because I don't think I'm buying what she's selling, but like everyone else I'm happy anytime someone gets a chunk of Francis' filthy lucre.

I graduated from college before GGW debuted, but even back in the 80s and early 90s there were always pervs trolling the beaches in the summertime and during spring break trying to get drunk girls to flash for their camera. It happened to my friends and me regularly, if we didn't have boyfriends with us. I'm just glad that I was too super self-conscious of my big boobs to ever do it. My friends, however ...

  23. I was wondering if this was after a full litigation, including a trial, or if she got a default judgment and just had a hearing about damages. If she had a default judgment, then it would not matter if she had signed a waiver or was enthusiastic or anything, because the only evidence on liability would be, basically, her pleading.

But, the comment from Candyzeit makes me think that she could have won a case that was litigated.

  24. I hate this man, and I hate the men who made him a billionaire, and I hate the culture that taught young women that it was ok to sell a peek to the world for beads or t shirts or cheers from a crowd. Disgusting.
