19 Year Old Kept As Slave For 8 Years

A Bosnian couple is in custody today after a man took a photo with his cell phone of the couple whipping a 19 year old German girl while she pulled a cart. The man, who had tired to turn in the couple previously but was thwarted because police didn't take any action is being called a hero now. The girl is not related to the couple but has been their slave for 8 years. She was emaciated and barely alive when police found her. She had signs of torture all over her body and had not been allowed to speak to anyone in the 8 years. The man who reported the activities to the police told them many years ago that he had witnessed the girl being forced to eat pig food from a bowl on the ground but police didn't investigate. Why do police not investigate? This girl could have been saved so long ago if the police had only bothered to do their job.

  1. Oh mu G-d. Stories like this just break my heart, and give me less faith in the Human race every time. Unbelievable that anyone could to this to another person.

  4. Yes but even worse is when the police chief said he had known the girl was there and has since her arrival eight years prior as he,"saw her eating pig food out of a bowl!" I don't know about you but if I saw someone eating pig food from a bowl I think I would be concerned.

  5. That girl has gone through more than any girl her age should ever have to. My heart is with her and I hope she is safe and has everything she could ever want for the rest of her life. She deserves it. <3

  6. The articles I read said that the police did originally investigate and could not find the girl or evidence of her. Even the man that reported it both times said that the couple hid the girl from the police very well.

  11. Keeping slaves is common practice in Muslim cultures. This makes me think we were on the wrong side back in the early 90's.

    1. I don't think they're Muslims, they don't associate with pigs or their food...

  13. I had a very hard time following the story from the Australian news website. So the girl's mother married this gypsy guy so he could get a German resident visa, then he and his partner/wife enslaved her daughter for eight years, and they may have allowed visitors to sexually abuse her?

  14. You all remember Enty asking what animal scared you the most and many listed spiders and snakes and stuff. Well for me, THIS is the reason I fear people so much. You can step on an earwig but someone treating another human like this just fills me with anger and confusion. Poor poor girl.

  18. Wanna get really sick? When the UN went into Bosnia/Serbia, the number of women enslaved went thru the roof. One contractor, who was a veteran of the US military tried to report it. He was of course "fired for cause" and sent home. Police officers from various countries would tip off nightclubs that were about to be raided.

If you really want to be sickened and angry, read the book "The Natashas". (That's where I got those stories from). I alternated between tears of pain and tears of rage.

I would love to help these young women, but unfortunately, it's hard to find a way to get actively involved. And if God forbid, you have a penis, forget it.

  19. Stories like this are why I pretty much stopped believing in God. I know, I know, trust me, I know all the arguments those who believe will make, but you can save your energy. I haven't quite managed to label myself atheist, but I'm hovering somewhere between atheism and agnosticism at the moment. It's just too screwed up of a world.

  20. God has nothing to do with how humans behave, bad or good. Human behaviour is the culprit here.

  21. The article states that neighbors heard her screaming and crying. No where does it say that they tried to help her.

  22. Agreed @auntliddy, humans have the ability to choose. Sometimes the choices we make lack the wisdom we have the ability to bear. Life is what you make it.

I've been on both sides, gave in to reality and I'm determined not to fall again. God can't control our choices.

  24. This is sick and there are so many stories like this out there.

This is also like the Etan Patz murder case, of the 6 year old boy who has been missing since 1976. They've been searching and searching and even in April 2012, dug up his basement. Nothing.

Then Pedro Hernandez admitted to killing and dumping the body back in '76 when he was 19 and worked as a stock boy across from the boys home. Hernandez's older sister went to the police in the early 1980's and told them that she thinks her brother murdered a little boy, but didn't know the name of the boy. Just that her brother told her he strangled him.

The police did nothing. Someone else came out and told the police that Hernandez killed Etan, and again did nothing.

Now it's 2012, and they opened the case and blamed 2 completely different people at first, when the police had been tipped off in 1976 and did nothing. Lazy. Just plain laziness. They don't want to deal with the paperwork.

  25. Come over to the dark side, Carolyn -- we have cookies! (Seriously, you've done the hard work of figuring out what you don't believe -- don't be ashamed to label yourself an atheist. Best of luck to you.)
