Freddie Combs Is Everywhere On reality TV

If yesterday's X factor audition was the first time you had ever seen the 540 pound Freddie Combs then you missed one of the best reality shows last year called Ton of Love, and he and his wife shot a pilot for their own show, but I am not sure if it was ever picked up. As great as his voice is, you really need to go watch the show on TLC and see Freddie at home with his wife. When he filmed Ton of Love he weighed about the same as he does now and that was shot about two years ago. At that time the couple combined weighed about 900 pounds.

  1. At first I thought this was Ralphie May.

  2. What an asshole ... I realize morbid obesity *can* be a medical condition, but given his attitude/behavior, his clearly resulted from extreme laziness. Poor woman.

  3. I wish we would stop glamorizing and promoting self-inflicted shit like this. He's disgusting, and the taxpayers among us are subsidizing the fact that he doesn't give shit. I'm 100% behind helping people who want to commit to change, but this has got to stop. You're looking at why we have a healthcare crisis in this country.

  4. I was rooting for him because of his voice, but after that clip I don't care much for him at all. I don't understand why his wife takes shit from him, he can't move! Girl demand some respect!

  5. So basically this guy wants to be famous bc he's morbidly obese. Get over yourself. I'm glad TLC didn't pick up this show FOR ONCE.

  8. When someone is this obese, they obviously cannot walk very well or do ssuch as grocery shopping very well either. Why are we not calling out the enablers who are bringing them copious amounts of food and thereby contributing to their early death?

Reality shows showcase played up behaviour. Is Freddie as obnoxious as he appears? Who knows. But the people around him should be smacked upside their heads. I suspect he would begin losing weight if he had to fend for himself. Including income. Only so much delivery pizza one can buy when on welfare...

  9. I watched him on the X Factor last night, Simon was the only one who even attempted to address that he brought this condition on himself. He wasn't mean but basically said you have to help yourself get out of that chair. The others acted like had cancer and was a victim.

I'm not hating, I just don't understand how you get to the point where you can't even walk. Lord knows you could put a feed bag on my face and I would be content but I would never allow myself to get to the point of restricting myself physical freedoms.

Everyone struggles with something they think is bigger than themselves. Struggles with food is one of the few that are subject to pure ridicule.

  11. I remember watching that show. His wife is a saint. I've never seen anyone so excessively vain about their hair. He thinks he is just the bomb.

  12. I'm hoping that, like most reality shows, people act far worse and more dramatic for the camera.

  13. I saw that show. He was vile. His whole attitude was one of entitlement. There are struggles and then there's failure to take any personal accountability. He's in the latter.

  14. No pity for this human being.

  15. Um, why do I "need" to watch that, Enty? I could not be less interested, and I fail to see what could possibly be interesting or edifying about it based on the description.
Then again, I'm not into reality shows, so it's not surprising I wouldn't get the appeal. To each his own, I guess....

  18. This guy is, for lack of a better term, a big sassy queen, and I kind of love it. I'm not gonna watch his show, or the fucking X Factor, but I hope he gets on his feet one day. In FABULOUS shoes!!!

  19. This man is revolting. And I mean his personality.

  20. And WTF IS UP WITH DEMI'S EYEBROWS? Her makeup artist needs to be fired!

  21. Maybe his long-suffering wife has one of those Colonial Penn life insurance policies on him. You don't need a physical for that.

  22. Wow...just wow. I saw him on X-Factor and on the stage he came across as a very humble, sweet man. Now I see that he is just like so many others and a fame whore. And I'm sure that's why the judges put him through...for drama/ratings. Granted, he has a nice voice, but he's not going anywhere as a singer. Ugh.

  23. "Chop Chop woman, come on!"
It doesn't help that he looks like a morbidly obese Justin Bieber.

  24. Ugh. What an asshole. I understand that obesity isn't always just about someone who likes to eat and live a sedentary lifestyle and that it's oftentimes a disease, but at least many people who are obese WANT to get healthier and maybe even try to attempt to do something about it. But this guy is a lazy a-hole who doesn't seem to care to do anything about his condition. I have zero sympathy.

  25. While it is sad to see someone like this, they got themselves to that point. He didn't gain 700 lbs over night, that takes work. He must have been eating like 2 boxes of pizza a day for years or something. I'd love to see him lose the weight.

I feel like overweight women are the ones that usually get bullied and talked about the most though. The men seem to be looked at as funny and comical and endearing, but when it's a woman, it's like "omg what a pig how nasty who would want her". I know that some people have problems that make then gain or impair them from losing, but it really bothers me when people judge more so because of gender when it comes to obesity.

  26. Would all of you be so angry about this person if it were someone with anorexia? I didn't watch either clip; he may well be a horrible person, so I don't care if anyone is judging his personality. But I have to think getting to this size is just as much an illness as dropping to 60 pounds.

  27. Jolene, the guy has already lost 300- something pounds. What does he need to do to prove that he's trying???

  29. I admit I was all ready to be like, "Fat shaming is the new black! Leave the man aloooone! Why is it only acceptable to make fun of fat people??? ZOMGWTFBBQ!!!1" until I watched that second clip and holy shit that guy is an asshole.

Obviously he is doing something to help himself - he lost over 350 pounds, auditioned for X Factor. He also dedicated the song to his wife, so maybe he has become more appreciative and humble.

Also for those commenting on his risky behavior of chronic overeating causing a burden to the tax payer, there are a lot of"pots calling the kettle black" - cigarette smoking is risky, so is having sex with multiple partners, so is having unprotected sex, so is high stress, anger, participating in extreme sports, ...all of these behaviors affect the taxpayer and/or those paying for insurance.

  31. How do heroin addicts get to the point they die? People who are this obese are addicted to food. Not everyone responds in the same way to a given substance. It's as hard for some morbidly obese people to kick food addiction as it is someone else to rehab from crack.

We have sympathy for drug addicts and alcoholics, but we do nothing but sneer at these people.
