This C list actress/writer could never make it official and now she may never get the chance as her A+ list actor boyfriend from a very very very hit show has made it clear that he is available and the first person he has made himself available to is his C list co-star. Apparently the clinginess got to be too much for the actor. Plus the favors and the demands she always put on him.

ReplyDeleteI think Westfeldt is made of at least 75% plastic, but I loved her movie Friend With Kids. She does come off really clingy. But she probably could also do better, I doubt he's been faithful through most of the relationship. Who knows.
ReplyDeleteThe only place Jon Hamm is really cute is when he's on 30 Rock. I love him there. That, and his trouser snake, which continues to amaze - I now spend extra time perusing his pap photos looking for a glimpse of the Goliath. Sad, I know.

ReplyDeleteI think Hamm is outstanding on Mad Men. I can't take my eyes off him. However anything I've seen him in outside of Mad Men, I've found him goofy. It's hard to reconcile the two views.

ReplyDeleteIn any case, Jon Hamm was my first thought also. I confess that I always, always side with the women in these situations until it is proven that I shouldn't know. I know that is wrong of me. I don't know much about Jennifer, but she must be very bright and talented and I'm sorry for her if this is true.

ReplyDeleteWow, kind of shocked that there's such strong sentiment for marriage, to say nothing of a demanding marriage window. Who's to say Westfeldt was ever pushing for marriage? Perhaps they liked what they had, looked around and saw people unhappily married, and decided to keep things straightforward for as long as it lasted.

trudi, i think 3 years is generous. people can think he's an asshole but come on. these 2 have been together for years. she should have moved on a long time ago---maybe he would have gone after her. he didn't put her in this situation---she had a big part in putting herself there.

madmama, I don't watch regularly but my husband does so I've seen it, and he doesn't get to me. But I can understand how others find him hot. He also seems very funny, I like his sense of humor.

Why is marriage always considered the "end point" for a relationship? Even if a couple does intend to be life partners? As a hetero gal in a decade long relationship, with both of us committed, in each other's wills, and damned happy, marriage is still just a word OTHER people seem to bandy about like a weapon -- what the fuck? Is this the only accepted norm still? So bizarre.
ReplyDelete@Madmama, to answer your question, I watched Mad Men through Netflix up through, I think, season four or so. The next season wasn't available at the time. The last season I saw was the one when his friend died, the woman who was married to the real Don Draper. I can understand what others see in him, but he just doesn't do it for me, never has.

ReplyDeleteI was always under the impression that Hamm & Westfeldt were unmarried by mutual decision, not that he was holding out on her. If this blind is correct, and she wanted to get married but neglected to make this fact clear to him, well...I would guess that he's not a mind-reader after all, and if she tells him she's fine w/them not being married, how would he know differently?
ReplyDeleteThen again, he could just be acting like a jerk, or their relationship may just be coming to its natural end--some last a lifetime, some several years, and some don't make it past "Was it good for you?" If this is indeed the two of them, then I hope the breakup is as civil as possible, and that she in particular goes on to bigger and better things.
Oh, and if he's actually dating someone in he Mad Men cast, I'm thinking Christina Hendricks wouldn't be it (as much as visualizing that particular hookup would be very, very appealling...); I'm guessing her as some variety of B-list at the least. Elisabeth Moss, perhaps, or Jessica Pare? Would Alison Brie be considered C-list?

I have been through two divorces (thankfully only one of which involved children) and I am not sure it should be the ultimate goal or if I will ever do it again. A couple of months ago I moved in with my girlfriend and it has been amazing. I love her more every day and have been happier than I can remember being in decades. But I would hate to think my commitment to her is meaningless without some sheet of paper and some jewelry.

ReplyDeleteI got the impression that Westfeldt had stood by Hamm when his career was floundering and used her behind the scenes connections to get him the Mad Men audition. Then his career far eclipsed hers and I guess his loyalty only went so far.

The guy's a top notch actor and has a great sense of humor about himself. But seems the fame & adulation went to his head. ReplyDeleteHe's an attractive man and I get why women love him... but he doesn't get it for me. I tried watching Mad Men a few times, didn't really enjoy it. There was a dullness about it; I kept hoping it'd pick up but never did. Oh well, more for you guys that love it!
