Blind Item #3

This former one hit wonder from the early 90's with some weird punctuation in her name has now been reduced to working as a street hooker. Everytime she is arrested for prostitution she brings up her hit song and thinks it will get her off or that someone will be impressed.

    NO! Really?

  6. Nooo! I hope it's not Des'ree, just Googled her and not much (new) came up, though she seems pretty down to Earth in interviews. But wait, is she a one hit wonder? She had a few songs out other than Gotta Be, right?

    ReplyDelete
  7. No! "You gotta be" was one of my anthems too!

  10. I googled "one hit wonders from the 90's" and the other name that comes up that has "weird punctuation" is A'me Lorain (song: "Whole Wide World" from True Love). I don't remember the song, but there you go.

    Checked out http://www.onehitwondercentral.com/90s.cfm

    A'Me Lorain (Whole Wide World)
K.P.& Envyi (Swing My Way) K.P. maybe?

I don't consider either of those really popular enough to use it

  27. Robin S. (I always found it weird that she just didn't go by Robin Stone) - "Show Me Love". Wiki says she had 3 dance hits, but digging in, it looks like they are remixes of the same song. She lives in Georgia now, and there is an online petition to convince some record company to bring her back, which sounds to me like she's hit hard times.

So sad that this singer has gone in this direction with her life. Can't she get regular work? The only reason for someone to turn to this profession is because they have a drug problem. It's the only way to feed a very expensive habit, she could always work as a waitress or something if she's willing to make normal people wages.

  42. The only song that I know of by Des'ree is You gotta Be and that was released in 1994. I'm going with her for this one. I can't think of any big hits by the other weird punctuation names. Is she touring full time? Maybe hooks part-time?
