Chevy Chase Is Leaving Community

After almost four seasons on the show Community, Chevy Chase is leaving. I think that is probably a very good idea considering it does not seem like he gets along with anyone on the show and never really has. Chevy likes being the star and has always liked being the star and sole center of attention going way back to his days on SNL. Why do you think Bill Murray hated him so much? John Belushi? Same. Chevy was never the star of Community and never was going to be and I think that frustrated him. He can be the star of a television show, but in an ensemble cast filled with really great actors that just was not going to happen.

  1. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, you little bitch, Chevy.

  2. Some people never learn there's no "I" in team.

  3. I love "Community" but I don't think it will last beyond this season anyway. Jerk that he is, some of his comic line deliveries are flawless. I would miss his character if the show managed to continue without him. But then I'm not all that confident the show will be any good this year without Dan Harmon.

  4. ugh i hate him so much, he is the reason NBC forced Dan Harmon out, he created and loved the show.

All Chevy wanted was an easy paycheck and got bitchy when he was actually expected to work and contribute. Then turned around and started shitting on show calling sitcoms the lowest form of tv and was just their so his wife and kids could have "what they want" oh FUCK YOU, Sir.

  6. I fucking hate Chevy Chase. One of, if not THE biggest douchebag in the industry.

  9. Can't stand him. I used to watch SNL when it first came out (the 1970s?) and could tell even then he was an asshole. Miss Belushi though.

  10. Bill Murray came after Chevy Chase. He actually replaced Chevy Chase.

  11. Agree with dia, I hope this encourages Dan Harmon to return to the show.

Not surprised and not sorry to see him leave the show. The guy has a 20+ year track record (at the very least) of pissing on just about everyone he works with.

Still, there was a movie he did in the early 80s that was called Modern Love or Modern Times, something like that, and I freakin' loved that movie, totally silly.

  12. Anyone Bill Murray hates, I'll hate as well ;)

Had a supercrush on Chevy when I was little.

  13. So this is basically the same plot from episode where they try to elect a student body president. A girl wouldn't let Chevy's character borrow a pencil so when she ran for president so did Peirce. He called her names and then dropped out the second Vicki did. CC is a well documented jerk and I wish NBC would have let him go instead of Dan. Then I think there would be a much better chance of a season 5. I gave up hope anyway.

  14. For you Griswold fans, I saw this late last night and thought I was hallucinating, but apparently I wasn't and it's a real thing.

  15. I heard his mother abused him and his brother when he was little, you'd think he'd be a little more humble considering...

Now he can be the star of his couch.

  18. They only have a few episodes left to film before the show goes dark anyway. It would be nice if they let Harmon come back for the finale.

  19. I actually think Bill and Chevy got into it before Caddy Shack, when Chevy came back "triumphant" to guest host SNL.

And yeah, the original Vacation is one of my all-time favorites, he's had some great moments as Pierce, plus I'll occasionally try to do something simple like wrap up the water hose and clutz it up and call it a "Chevy Moment" BUT it seems like everyone he's worked with has had some misgivings/grievances about him.

  20. He's had nothing but good things to say about the cast, but he's been very vocal about the writers being crap (which they're not - Community is a freakin' brilliant show). Not sorry to see him go. His character has been a drag on the storylines for awhile.

  21. GOOD! I love Community, hated all the crap that he put Dan Harmon through. Hated his character so much, every time he came on screen I cringed.

  22. Too bad he's turned into an old coot. He has done some funny stuff in the past.

  23. Chevy Chase had an ego when he was on SNL and has never quit. He thinks he is very talented, which he partially is. But you can see he's nothing but a big douchebag.

  24. Modern Problems, @Comma Chaser! Dumbest movie ever, but it still made me laugh. Yeah, and those damned Vacation movies too. MUST genuine talent = asshole?

  25. Don't forget Fletch and Foul Play, he's golden in those movies.

  26. @Cee Kay THANK YOU...i seriously spent all day trying to figure out what that film's title was. Yeah, it's dumb, but when I was ten or eleven it cracked me up, particularly a long scene involving a nose bleed.
