Whitney Houston's Brother Says He Hooked Whitney On Drugs

While I admire Michael Houston for coming forward and telling Oprah that he is the one who got Whitney Houston hooked on drugs, I don't want this to somehow release Bobby Brown from what he did. Amy Winehouse had used drugs before she met Blake but he is the one who got her really hooked and also who introduced her to drugs that were far more dangerous and then used them with her at levels far higher than she had been. Same with what Bobby did with Whitney. Michael did say that he was the first person to smoke crack with Whitney way back in the 80's.

  1. How many people have to say it wasn't Bobby before people believe it. Michael isn't the first one to say this. Yet people like Enty CONTINUE to blame Bobby.

    1. Lol,used to be a B.Brown fan back in the day, really thought after My Perogative,he would a viable force against the King of Pop.
Yeah, folks need to stop scapegoating Bobby for Whitney's troubles.Whitney wasn't a pushover by any means.
I think that's just society in general: If a woman suffers a breakdown;there's usually a man behind.

  2. Bobby was an enabler. Many people are.

  3. She was responsible for her own addiction, as far as 'being responsible' goes when one is addicted. This whole blaming BB for Whitney's addictions is so very old and tired.

    1. Agreed, it was her decision just like it was mine. I have had plenty of enablers but it ultimately came down to my decision. I was the only one who could pull myself out of it.

  4. In fact, a lot of siblings introduce drugs to other siblings and when the sibling dies from an addiction ,they blame everybody and everything out there except for themselves. At least he admitted it.

  6. Whitney Houston was a grown woman! I'm not saying Bobby brown was innocent, and I know he didn't make things better. Whitney made the choice to do drugs, it's unfortunate that she died because of it.

  7. Ummm...I think Bobby Brown and other people who knew the couple say that Whitney introduced Bobby to hard drugs. They say Bobby drank and smoked pot but she introduced him to all kinds of hard drugs. *shrug* I don't know who to believe.

Whitney was her own person. So if she hung out with someone that did lots of drugs with her then what does that make her? A victim? No. She knew what she was doing, he didn't hold the crack pipe up to her mouth every time, he was out of her life when she died too. Whitney was her own problem.

  9. I agree with you, Chris. I don't get how people continue to blame Bobby. Why not the other way around?
Bobby did drugs, then Whitney enabled HIM.
We have known for a long time she was doing drugs before Bobby, then the two of them stepped up their use TOGETHER.

  10. That's probably what they had in common from the start.

  12. no one is responsible for being an addict but the addict, Enty.

I know you would like to blame Bobby, but that is letting Whitney off the hook. Her addiction, her problem.

  14. I never knew she had a brother. For some reason, I thought she was an only child.

    1. Whitney had at least 2 older brothers,I believe. She told a story about when she was young her brothers would school her about player-isms and the games that guys pull on females to get them outta their clothes.

  15. Seriously, Whitney was an addict. The only person to blame was Whitney the addict.

  16. In celebrity families, the person who brings in the money is the person with the ultimate power. (See Jackson, Michael). Even in Britney Spears' case, with the custodial agreement in place, the fact she might at any time refuse to perform gives her the ultimate power in her small family set-up.

In the Houston/Brown family, Whitney was the main breadwinner and thus the ultimate power holder. No one could have stopped her drug use except her.

  17. Maybe because her brother introduced her to crack her decision making skills were affected, allowing her to think Bobby Brown was a a good guy. So sad all around, but I have to agree, SHE was the one with the addiction. It's a horrible thing and so few survive it. RIP Whitney.

  18. I myself have never blamed anyone or anything for my addictions. I drank the vodka, snorted the coke, smoked the meth, dropped the acid, and put the needle in my arm. ME, MYSELF and I.
The road to recovery is owning your addiction and taking responsibility.
That being said, maybe Whitney's brother is on his road to recovery and taking responsibility for things he did

  19. Yeah, no one but the addict is responsible and I say this as an addict.

I agree with many of the above statements.

  24. I guess Bobby is blamed because he seemed a bit wild and Whitney had this good girl image. Who would have thought it was the other way around? I was surprised she was on heavy drugs, but then again, there were blind items from the beginning about these two, back in the day when The Enquirer was one of the only places you could find them and they weren't the watered down crap they put out today.

Either way, it's a horrible waste of talent, but then again, it seems our most talented don't stay on this earth long and end up dying by their own hands. Sadly, that kind of off the charts talent usually comes with a huge price.

    1. Clive Davis had good PR folks who crafted a good girl image in Whitney who was drugging long before Bobby. If you think about it, Bobby has never said anything bad about Whitney in spite of the fact everyone blames him for her drug use.

  28. Whitney was going to do whatever she wanted to do. And once someone gets hooked on something, they listen to the drug, beyond reasonable thought

  29. am 1/2 way through the Cissy interview- how terrible she would never has accepted Robin and Whitney. The look on Oprahs face, even after she asks for the 3rd time- says it all.

Whitney- died at her own hands, but her Mother seems to have layed a thick dose of "oh no you will not" on her, it seems like Whitney couldn't please her..

    RIP

  30. I'm from NJ so my friends/relatives had a Whitney sighting or two.

    1. My friend worked at a floral shop in Fort Lee. Whitney came in when she was just becoming well known. My friend recognized her.She was very sweet and looked amazing.

    2. Brother in law was an X ray tech at the time and she came in with a sprained ankle and he was on duty. She was very well known at the time but no diva behavior at all.

    3. My mother saw her at a BBQ restaurant 1990ish, maybe '89. She was drunk, loud, and rowdy. Everyone knew who she was.

  31. I don't know who to believe, either. I've also read that it was in fact Whitney who introduced Bobby to harder drugs. And in any case, as others have pointed out, the addict is the addict, period. And does it even matter at this point?!

  32. Whitney was a grown woman and it was her bad decisions that led her down her path to self destruction. Some people are resistant to blaming Whitney because of her fabricated good girl image and Bobby's bad boy image but I guess their drug use was the thing that brought them together. Sad situation.

  33. I'm guessing that Michael Houston got paid for this interview, which makes me want to throw up.

  34. Whitney was older and better positioned in the music community. She definitely had a leg up on Bobby, why does no one take her to task for HER influence on him? She was also doing drugs at least five years before she hooked up with Bobby. Neither one helped the other.

I have sympathy for Cissy, but I am sick to death of her 'I didn't know and I'm the poor, fooled old lady' She doesn't need to make it public, but Cissy needs to confront her own alcoholism, get off her soapbox/cross and try to break this cycle of addiction in her family.

Lastly, Whitney was in love with Robin since she was a young teen. How sad that she could never own what she was. She was chased home from H.S. over her relationship and out of jealousy. Imagine what that did to her personality. Perhaps if her mother didn't use her to vicariously achieve superstar status and provided her with true, accepting support, she'd still be here.
