Anastacia Has Breast Cancer Again

One of my favorite people ever is Anastacia. I just have always loved her and think she is an incredibly amazing person. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003, I wasn't worried about her because she is so tough and had fought through illness her whole life. Anastacia says that since there is not a history of cancer in her family, she thinks it was because of stress and that more people are getting cancer who have never had it before. Yesterday, Anastacia announced that her breast cancer has returned and that she will cancel her tour on doctor's advice and is not sure when or if she will be able to tour again.

  1. I feel bad asking this, but who is she? Hoping she gets better quickly, though!

  5. Didn't she also have Crohn's? That's a lot to go through.

  6. @Cathy Don't feel bad, I had to google her to remember who she was too. You may remember her one US hit single: I'm Outta Love

And here's a DM article listing her myriad health problems. I feel really bad for her DM Article

  7. I remember her from the AI type show on MTV back in the day. She was second runner up and ended up having a huge career in Europe where they LOOOOVE her but for some reason her success never translated to the American market. Hope she gets better real soon

  9. Ah man, this is sad. I had forgotten about her, but her music was a big part of the soundtrack of my London years. I hope she powers through this.

  12. I saw her in Geneva Switzerland about 8 years ago, she was phenomenal - way more talented than most of the girls you hear on the radio today. I never understood why she wasn't more popular in the US. She is huge in Europe.

  13. A huge inspiration to me and others with Crohn's. Beautiful person who happened to be talented and lovely.
I know she has the strength to fight and wish her all the help she needs.

  14. Hey, Mari, i have Crohn's too, although it wasn't active for a few years, until recently.
GI problems are just pure misery, all around.

I feel bad speculating, so someone else figure out if MV's "S" could actually be this pretty lady---Didn't die, Enty lied, etc etc etc.

I see MV clues in every post! A pox upon me!
I'm going to watch some vids.

  15. This is truly sad and I fear does not bode well for her. Women who are young with recurring cancer have low survival rates. Wish her to beat the odds.

  16. I just listened to this lady do "Killing Me Softly" live.

Who's that person who always thinks MV is Mary J Blige?

Anastacia & MJB have a collaborator in common. Coincidence, probably.

  17. No way!!! Mary J can sing!!!! She's freaking amazing!

  18. She has some great songs. I hope she gets well!

  19. She has a great voice! I am very sad to hear this but I hope she has a quick and speedy recovery and beats this vicious monster. I HATE CANCER!!! God bless her and all those going through it or experiencing it with a loved one. :(

  20. I don't know who she is either, but I hope she beats it!

I also am not sure who she is, but wish and pray for a speedy and full recovery! If Enty likes her then she's got to be decent.

  22. I'm sorry, I've heard nothing but the fact that Mary J Blige can't sing live. From people who've gone to see her. Friends, co-workers, all surprised and disappointed at her voice. Different cities too, different years.

I don't mean to offend any fan. But there IS a commenter here who is SURE MV is MJB. That's all.

  28. I haven't heard of her either (but then I don't listen to much music if it's not the alt station in my car for errands), but I hope she kicks it again.

    Cancer is EVIL.

  29. I met her years ago in the late 90's when she was dating this guy on the football team at my university. She sat next to me at one of the games and we chatted and while she was so pretty and intimidating...she was actually extremely friendly and nice. Not long after that I found out she was a singer and yeah, she's good! I really hope she beats that nasty damn cancer in to the ground!

  30. People, hear me loud and clear!!! Only about 2% of breast cancers are found in women with a family history of it. Yes, if you have a family history of it, you have a greater risk, but MOST cancer is NOT genetic. All of us are at risk, even men. Check yourselves regularly, and see you doctor if you notice any changes in your breast tissue.

  31. Awww, I remember her. She was like a 2000 Taylor Dayne. She had major health issues just as she was making it big here. So sad.

  32. I really hope she pulls through. My mother is a breast cancer survivor and I'm always terrified of the disease returning. I love her voice and I've always been disappointed she wasn't bigger outside of Europe. Very sad to hear this. I hope she kicks cancer's ass for good this time.

  33. Oh that's sad. I had forgotten about her too. Hopefully she pulls through - she seems very young to have had this twice!

  34. In Europe her songs are classics, and I LOVE her!
A pity this. I really hope the best for her. Second time cancer... ufff. Best wishes, it's not going to be easy.

  35. Yes she was huge in Europe and super loved in Italy. I really hope she gets better and beats this curse for good. She has always seem a survivor and some of her interviews were quite inspirational.

    stay strong xx
