Anderson Cooper Loves Anne Hathaway

Well, it is obvious that Anderson Cooper mailed in his self addressed stamped envelope to get his Anne Hathaway fan club pin.

  3. i'm already over the anne hate. she messed up her dress like paltrow did - she won and her marriage may not survive...over it...

i am much more interested in knowing who JLaw was talking to while she smoked pot on her balcony in Hawaii...they are having a Wanderlust yogi fest at Turtle Bay which is where they are filming or were filming parts of this current Hunger Games movie...

  4. She does have that Judy Garland over the top persona. She would make a great gay icon for a new generation. And the tragedy of how she is treated by all those mean people, it's irresistible. Anne honey, give Bette Midler a call. You'll need a mentor to help you step into this new role.

  5. well now that I watched the actual video, Im loving the coop even more!!!!! And who's the english chick? notice he shamed her toward the end, she was like yeah she seems lovely.

  6. @ auntliddy - I totally agree! Like I said, my ex says she is a REALLY nice person who is not too good to mingle with the staffers when on the job. I think she's excited, worked really hard and wanted it badly. I guess I'd hate to see what people say about me when I'm going for the promotions that I want.

  7. I also think she's an excellent actress, and I've come to feel sorry for her. She's so insecure that she can never just be herself, but has to rehearse. Her PR campaign was ridiculous and annoying, but this public hate has got to be getting to her.

  8. Anne Hathaway rubs me the wrong way, and I don't think she's a very good actress, but I'm Coop on this. People are just very mean when discussing her & I'm not positive what she's done to deserve that.

it doesnt seem genuine i guess. everything looks staged . I did love her response when her cooch flick got passed around, That was a sincere reaction. Everything after that seemed all part of a campaign

  10. Anne is an insufferable bore . People dislike her because they see right through her pretentious bullshit. She's not even that good of an actress. Also people grew tired of her campaigning herself out like a whore for that Oscar which she didn't deserve.

thought she saved the show when she hosted with james frank and beans. IVE never seen this before towards an actress.

  14. I rarely post, but I just had to comment that CNN has an article about this exact topic:

    http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/28/showbiz/celebrity-news-gossip/anne-hathaway-hate/index.html?iref=allsearch

Not sure how to make it "clicky", sorry!!

  15. This happens when you over-saturate the media. AnnE is now facing the backlash. Come back after disappearing for a while and cut the "Gee Golly" routine and act like a grown up woman. She has an Oscar now and when she comes back she should come back as confident and strong.

I DO want her to disappear for a while though. For real.

    ReplyDelete
  16. She is planning to disappear for a while, she said so in her Oscar press conference. She is taking her team on vacation for all their work on her during the awards season madness.

She changed her dress at the last minute because she didn't want to look too similar to her co-star Amanda Seyfried, she issued a public apology to Valentino because they had sent out a press release and she felt she made them look bad. She did the right thing, but she's getting hate for it. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

    1. I agree FS. AnnE actually did an amazing job singing while distraught in Les Mis and she really worked her ass off albeit too much in her campaign to win awards as well. But you cannot deny she truly is talented. And yes some time away will do wonders for her PR. So long as she doesn't fall for her own PR and put her head up her ass and fall for the Oscar curse she may have legs (see Halle Berry, Hillary Swank).

  17. I like Anne and I have since her princess says (Ella Enchanted, Princess Diaries). She does come off overeager & a bit hyper, like a new puppy. But that's just her personality ... it's not fake & calculated like most starlets.

  18. OMG - it's happening. Hathaway IS turning into Liza Minnelli! Now she has aging (but adorable) gay men in her corner. All she has to do is star in Cabaret and the transformation will be complete.

Seriously, though, apart from her disingenuous phoniness, she's a terrible actress. As with Minnelli, all her roles have the self-conscious histrionics of a high school drama department "ACK-TOR." Just watch her in Brokeback Mountain or that terrible Jane Austen movie, and you'll see what I mean. Bleh.

    1. She was so good in brokeback i didnt even know it was her!!! So shes nice and excited- so what? Is that a sin? They ALL campagin for the oscar, even actors you wld think are above it. Its a business.

  20. I can't stand people who take themselves so seriously. Self-deprecation goes a long way in my book (if it's sincere).

  21. I actually loved Anne's dress at the Oscars. She looked stunning and it fit her beautifully...and why does everyone hate on Anne? I know she was a little phoneyish and I kow that she was practicing her win pretending to cry (according to the BI)...but she is attractive and she is talented. I actually was surprised that I liked her a lot as Cat Woman.

Leave Anne alone. I hated her, and now cause everyone hates her...I love her.

  22. Well, this is a pickle. I hate Anne and I love Anderson. What to do . . .

    ReplyDelete
  23. I can see how people might find her annoying due to her over-eagerness, but she really is in a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't position where no matter what she says or does, it's going to be used against her. It was obvious that she wanted that Oscar desperately, busted her ass making the movie, and then went all out promoting it; then again, Mo'Nique got a lot of crap when she refused to play the Oscar campaign game, with people calling her stuck-up and thinking that she thought she was too good to go that route. They both ended up winning because clearly enough people each time thought their performances deserved Oscars, so who's to say which approach is the best one? The only thing to be safely said is that no matter what you do, particularly if you're a woman, you're going to get shit on from both sides, so try not to let it get to you if possible.

Is she a tad full of herself? Maybe, but I always had the impression that was almost a pre-requisite for being a performer. Is she a perfectionist? Probably, but so are a lot of other people; I don't see nearly as much shade being thrown at Daniel Day-Lewis for staying in character 24/7 to the point of texting Sally Field in character. There are plenty of actors who've also starved themselves for a particular role; Adrien Brody lost 30 lbs. for The Pianist, and talked about that in all his interviews just as much as Anne discussed her weight loss to play Fantine. They both ended up winning Oscars (I was thrilled when he won, and still feel it was very much deserved), but only one of them keeps getting crap from the peanut gallery for going to such lengths for a role. I'd never say that sexism is the only factor here, but to say it doesn't play a role at all would be most disingenuous.

At this point, I feel bad for Anne more than anything else, because the sheer volume of abuse is SO out of proportion to any actual offenses she may have committed. There are plenty of people in Hollywood far more deserving of having shit slung at them; perhaps she's simply a convenient scapegoat because some of these others are in sufficiently powerful positions that no one wants to risk their wrath? It's a thought...

Please auntliddy, cut the bullshit. That's because you like her. I'll remind you of that when you're bitching and snarking about a show/actor/actress/celeb that you don't like. "Don't bully Kim Kardashian!" (Can I say that? It's March now, right?) Or when you inevitably jump into a Housewives thread to ask why Enty is blogging about them. "Bully!"

Sorry, but I know bullshit when I smell it.

  26. I think it's kind of cute how worked up both Anderson and that producer (?) are getting about it. Am mildly amused at AC's shock that people on the internet are mean. :) People can hate AnnE's personality, but it doesn't mean she isn't a good actress. She does a lot of eye rolling, cringe worthy things, but at the end of the day, she is a good actress, IMO.

  27. Actually im pretty neutral when it comes to her, not huge fan but just not getting the hate. This dislike of her just seens different; just really mean. All i said about housewives is they are trashy, and i stopped commenting when u got so u upset, lol. Other people commented on delib put themselves out there for snark on reality shows. Most actors do not. No bullshit, and of course you are free to say what you please. Believe it or not, i censor myself a great deal when it comes to being nasty.

  28. "...it fit her beautifully"

Seriously? Yeah, we're never going to agree, because we apparently live in alternate realities. ;)

  29. Oh people need to stop being so sensitive! She was decent in Les Mis, her tv interviews to campaign for the Oscar and GG were okay and typical Hollywood. It's the dumbass speeches that threw people off. I love Mia Thermopolous, but when she uttered, "it came true" at the AA I felt awkward FOR her lol...That "lets hope Fantine exists only in the story books" line was legit, as was her kudos to Sally Field during her GG speech for making her believe she could be greater than corney Disney movies...but overall it was typical "let me act like I'm not gonna win even though I know I better win" bullshit that a lot of actors do. She did it, it's done, let's hope J.Law isn't next lol

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't know if this makes anything better, but my hate for Anne Hathaway stretches YEARS back - not just post-Les Mis. But that certainly has not helped.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Her Oscar campaign was ANNOYING. I think that is what most people are reacting to. I always thought (and still think) she is a good actress. But I feel like this awards season exposed her as a neurotic mess, like she was desperate to get the Oscar.
Believe me, they all play the game, including America's newly christened sweetheart Jennifer Lawrence. Anne was just way more obvious about it.
I know Anderson was joking...but I do believe J Law faked the fall. Some of them, like M'onique and Joaquin Phoenix play the game by announcing they are not playing the game and then people talk about them going against convention.
I do hope for Anne's sake that she does take a break and comes back, continues to do good work and shows less "LIKE ME, PLEASE!" and more confidence.

  32. At least she thanked Victor Hugo in her BAFTA acceptance speech. That dude never gets any love from award winners.

  33. I LOVE ANNE HATHAWAY!

I'm out and I'm proud! @chopchop, I loved that movie Ella Enchanted. It's so fun. A live action Shrek (as the director explained to my friend...)

    Theater geeks unite :D

  34. How was her Oscar campaign any more annoying than Sandra Bullock's? Do people even realize how much and how intensely she campaigned for her Oscar a few years ago? Did she fake her 'surprise' when she won after winning everything else?

    ReplyDelete
  35. and i stopped commenting when u got so u upset, lol.

I didn't get upset. I got pissed off that you were trying to dictate what Enty blogged about. And your bullying comment doesn't hold water because I don't recall you defending Lindsay Lohan because the posters here (myself included) feast on her bones on a fairly regular basis. So please, don't try to bullshit a bullshitter.

    1. Im guessing i offended you, which was not my intention. Offering my opinion, like many of us do, is not dictating to enty what shld be blogged about, and im sure i have zero effect on what enty decides to write. Lohan's behavoir warrants comment; anne doesnt commit any of those histronics. I comment on lindsay, but underneath it all i think she's a pathetic junkie and a victim of world class shitty parenting. So expressing a diff from u opinion does not constitute bullshit; i mean what i say. I shan't engage you any further. Live long and prosper.

  36. During the last stretch of annE campaigning for her Oscar, she somehow turned into one of those insufferable drama geeks we all knew in high school that you wanted to punch. and her saying 'it came true....' in her speech was just the 'gtfoh' cherry on an already prententious sundae.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think she's not a self-assured as most people think. She comes off as theatrical, which she is. She got a great gig and outstanding reviews and who knows when that will happen again so I can't blame her for wanting the Oscar. And did she worry they would give it to Emmanuelle Riva? Probably she did as much as the others worried they would give it to Anne.

To Anderson's point, we don't really know any of these people. Few of the facades are honest representations of the true self. JLaw is seen as charming because she comes off as genuine and we hope this is the real unaffected her and she doesn't change. We hope; we don't know for sure.

  38. @pink palace
Yes!!! Has anyone discussed J Law's friend in Hawaii? Maybe it's because they were hiiiiiiiiigh, but their body language in the photos seemed more intimate vs 2 girl friends getting tipsy on vacation. Hmmmmmmmm

  40. I have never been an Anne fan but the recent in your face Oscar campaign really solidified my dislike. For all the reasons mentioned above and more.

And y'all thought Ella Enchanted was a good movie? I think that was the beginning of the end for me. That book is one of my favorites and I make it a point to read it at least once every year since I was in 5th grade. Words cannot express how sad and disappointed I was with that horrible excuse for a film. It makes me sick and angry just thinking about it. Gah.

  43. Wow, all the Anne Hathaway hate has forced me to leave my comfy bed while I have influenza so I can type on a real computer and not my silly iPhone.

So, Anne wanted the Oscar and I guess from what people are saying, she campaigned for it. Good for her! If she did really see her mother play this role when she was only 8 years old, then having the Academy Award for this particular role must have been even more important to her. Yay Anne for making that happen! I am genuinely happy for her.

She does not annoy me. I have always found her to be
funny and an excellent comedic actress. She seems intelligent, a bit geeky and seriously devoted to her craft. I love all these things!

Maybe people are reacting to her haircut. A person needs a certain "eff off" vibe to pull off the short hair thing, but she doesn't seem to have that. Maybe makes her even more geeky and thus hated???? I'm just grasping at straws here, because I think she is adorable and can't fathom why everyone else hates her.

  48. I get where the hate comes from. I think she's the perfect storm of irritating Hollywood traits.

She deliberately picks Oscar bait roles, which is really quite irritating to a lot of people. Do a lot of other actors do this? Yes.

She had an aggressive PR campaign for awards season, which is also really irritating to a lot of people. Did other actors do it? For sure.

She won all the awards she campaigned for, so the whole season was about her. People got sick of seeing her. Other actors didn't quite dominate that way.

She appeared very over the top, even rehearsed when she accepted her awards, and that perceived disingenuousness is irritating to a lot of people.

I think that if she'd only done one or two of those things people wouldn't be hating her so much, but all of them together was a bit too grating for a lot of people.

She annoyed me, I don't think she's anything special when it comes to talent, and I find it hard to take her seriously, but I certainly don't hate her. Just my opinion as to why she's catching so much shade.
