Today's Blind Items - She Isn't Going To Talk About Her Cancer

In all the talk about Angelina Jolie's personal story about what she has done to prevent getting cancer, this Academy Award winner/nominee is not talking to anyone about the cancer that may take her life. About two years ago she discovered she had ovarian cancer. While fighting it, she continued to work, but not very much as the treatments were draining her. She stayed in her home country for most of it to be out of the prying eyes of paps and because she knew she would get more privacy. She is married and has kid(s). She has been in some of the biggest grossing movies in history. She is back in the US now and says that she has won the battle, but still knows she will probably lose the war and has decided that she is not going to share her story because she is a private person. She says that it will probably come out someday and that for now, the still B list mostly movie actress wants to work. She says that except when she is spending time with her family, what makes her feel alive is making movies.

    1. Why did you delete your Cruz guess and then give snark to someone else who guessed the same?

    2. I did not guess it was Penelope. I deleted this comment because I used a pronoun rather than a name referring to the unnamed person. My comment seemed like it would be the first and I was expressing the opinion that it was good the subject of the blind wasn't revealing ytheir status to the hoi poloi.

Gosh, I am so sorry to have gotten your knickers in a twist. As fat as I know I have not seen any posts from you, but really, I hate to cause confusion and was attempting to clear it all up. My comment about Penelope-that she is pregnant-is not snark. I just don't see how a person dealing with chemo treating ovarian cancer could be doing a pregnancy as well. I suppose it could be done, but I have never heard of it.

Since my grandmother WAS successfully treated for ovarian cancer (a miracle given how long ago she had it) and since I have been treated for cervical cancer, I have a bit of knowledge in this area. So. Sorry to have offended you so early in the morning. Yep. Sorry.

    1. Sherry, please note my explanation above. I was saying that it was a good thing she wasn't talking about it. Just a gaffe in terms of the order of tge post. No snark intended. Whoever it is has ANY need to talk about it. I wish this post wasn't even on the site bevause it is no one's business!

With all of my openness, which I do on purpose because the complexity of my illness history is just too much for most to understand and I am tired if keeping my mouth shut about tge medical system's utter failure to help me, I totally believe in anyone's right to privacy on medical grounds. Yes, even here on a gossip site...

    2. Gosh, that did not come out at alllll clearly. Whoever it is (the subject of the blind) does NOT HAVE ANY need to discuss it with the public.

There! Is Mercury retrograde again? What a mess!!

Hope you are well. See my latter post referencing rat bastards = insurance companies. Apparently they can practice medicine without a license and get away with it. I wish you all the best in your struggle. Bad enough one has to fight to stay alive and then the insurance company as well. Sucks.

    4. Yes INDEED. I apparently won a minor victory regarding my disability claim. Got a surprise call from my attorneys today. That it took from January 2012 to THIS WEEK to get something to happen by my own representation should give you some clue ss to ky frustration, exhaustion and rage. BUT it was a good thing so I shall be grateful.

I seem to have misread your post (I seem to he doing that lately) so am grateful I did not offend you. Small blessing ;).

I spent approximately $100K over 15-20 years trying to figure out what was wrong with me. I may or may not heal all the way up at this stage of the game. I just want my MONEY so I can do some things I need to to get better. And to take pressure off my hobbit hubby who has MS and is getting sicker due to all the stress.

I am furious at our f'd up medical system and want nothing more than to get well so I can fight the good fight for Medicare For All.

Good luck to you in your efforts. I may have missed whqt you are dealing with but beleeeve me when I say: I feel your pain...

Sending pink bubbles of joy to all who expetience serious or chronic pain. Very few understand how hard it is to negotiate the complicated medical syatem while awfully terribly screamingly ill. It is a criminal enterprise, as far as I can tell, with us taxpayers as the unwitting accomplices. Hugs!!

  16. Whoever it is, right on! It is noone's bidness. Ovarian cancer is a total nightmare and I am astounded she can work. Whoever it is, my prayers are with them for a peaceful passing. It is really rare to survive ovarian cancer. There are few symptoms in the early stages and by the time it is detected, not a whole lot can be done. Tragic that there is so little in the way of testing for this. Awful...

@Lila You clearly have not experienced this monster. A good friend of mine passed away 1 year ago. She went from stage 1 to stage 4 in 3 short weeks. 17. I know Enty is trying to shame AJ but I see this as a bit different, one was to get women past the shame of mastectomy, and the other one is facing death. I sure wouldn't want ot be examined every time I went out - is she dying yet, omg she looks terrible etc.

I hope whoever this is makes it, and kudos for keeping it in the family, her kids don't need more fears. Just goes to show you things can be kept quiet if one desires.

  18. I originally thought Cate Blanchette because of her participation in the LotR trilogy, but no way is she only B list. She is a goddess, and won't hear otherwise.

She also has a Woody Allen movie opening soon. It just saw the trailer. She looks healthy. I really hope it's not her.

I saw her in a play in London last year- it was quite a gruelling play - she's in it all the time for 3 hours and she seemed as much as you can tell healthy. I don't know how that fits into the timeline for being her but an observation.

    2. I think she took some time off from Hollywood films to work with a theater company in Sydney. I want to say she was running it or something, but can't remember.

Anyway, whoever this is deserves privacy if they want it, and best if luck to them.

  48. I was 29 when i was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer. it was caught in the very beginning stages 20 years ago and I have remained cancer free for those 20 yrs. Mine was caught by having a CA125 test done (1 and then 24 more thur the year) - and I credit that to Gene Wilder and an interview he gave about the test after Gilda died. Some day i will meet him and thank him personally. I was lucky enough to have already had a healthy child so at that young age, having the complete hysterectomy was a no brainer.

Sophia B, as someone who had an aunt with ovarian cancer, I am assuming, perhaps wrongly, that this actress is in remission however the rate of recurrence is very high for ovarian cancer, particularly if it was not detected early in the first instance. Her body is acidic. The way to counteract the acidity is to stop feeding it-no sugar, flour, dairy. Raw food diet is amazing-some with major cancer widespread have been able to go into remission. All of this is quite well known. But it is really hard to stay on and hard to get good quality organic veggies. We have been so habituated to crap food and don't realize how sick we are until it is too late. I also think I remember reading about barley grass & wheat grass as very very helpful.

    1. There is no great cancer cure conspiracy, and it's pretty insulting to suggest something like that to those of us who work in cancer research. Cancer isn't like tetanus. It's not a virus or bacteria - it's your own cells gone wrong. Because of that, there's not some magic bullet that will cure all cancer. Every therapy needs to consider not only the type of cancer, but also needs to ( many times) be customized specifically for the patient.

Every therapy needs to consider not only the type of cancer, but also needs to ( many times) be customized specifically for the patient.

    3. No one is saying there is a conspiracy. There ARE alternate methods of addressing cancer that have been violently and vehemently suppressed. Anyone with Google at their disposal can educate themselves as to the challenges of trying to offer different answers to challenging health conditions.

But if you haven't felt personally acknowledge and thanked for your efforts, THANK YOU. I appreciate your hard work and hope it is a successful endeavor. I know cancer is a bitch and I am praying there IS a unifying theory. To me, diet seems basic. Eat real food. Get and stay alkalinized to provide the least hospitable environment for those little boogers. THEN have at it with medical miracle cures. :) we can all live together happily if we love, respect, and appreciate one another. Right??

  87. Wow this blind is disgusting because it appears to be very self serving (if/when this actress dies of cancer, the blind will be revealed and Enty will get credit for having the scoop). I never have complained about any other blind...but this one just crosses the line for me...

Oh my. I can see that the comments on this site are becoming more and more cathartic purges of self disclosure. Maybe Enty needs a talking stick and incense? Can we leave all the cringe worthy self disclosures to more appropriate forums please?

    1. Backdoor Farrah talk OK, cancer talk cringe worthy. Gotcha champ, tx for the guidelines.

Since we're talking about cool tricks, have you heard about the one where your eyeballs move up and down? It lets you scroll past stuff you don't care about so you don't annoy people who do. Bonus: you don't become a whiny comment bitch! GOLD STAR!

Saucer of milk for you! Whoa! So much vitriol for my comment! I'm loathe to say anymore lest you have some kind of breakdown. Opinions - we're all entitled to them, including you. I never commented personally nor commented on back door action.
      Bless! Xx mwah!

    3. BSmears, check that timestamp on my post. MadamChef was dipping into the cooking wine! Sorry for being a comment bitch myself. I get annoyed when people complain about people talking in the comment section but damn, girl, no need to freak! :)

  89. Judi Dench? Emma Thompson? Juliette Binoche?

Did I miss something? Jolie didn't have cancer right?

  90. My 1st guess was Kristin Scott Thomas because she's really private to the point of living in Paris for the past 3 decades because of their regulations on paps. She has a family & has been some of the top films like Mission Impossible & The English Patient.

She works a lot but I do think she takes on many smaller or secondary roles esp a couple of years ago (Bel Ami, Salmon Fishing in Yemen) or leads in smaller films (maybe because they're less demanding)?

But I like French Girl's guess of Emma Thompson.

The only things is Enty says she's back in the US "now" so I take that to mean she's an ex-pat & lives in the US but recouped in her home country.

Neither Thompson nor Thomas live in the US so I guess that rules them out if I'm reading it correctly.

  91. Whoever this is, she shouldn't have to open up about her cancer. It's a private matter between her and her doctors. If she survives, and feels in the future that she can be an inspiration to others in telling her story, then so be it.

I don't think this is an appropriate topic to write gossip about.

  94. @Anothergrayhare, I don't know if you are still checking this thread but while my grandfather was dying from cancer, we did a lot of research on alternative methods and found out about a "ketogenic" diet, or one with limited carbs & sugar, and eating more natural fats. I saw someone talking about diets up there & wanted to chime in. Glucose (from carbs & sugars) feeds cancer cells, so if you lower your body's glucose count, you starve the cancer. I spoke with a few different people personally who swore that a diet like this saved their lives. We were too late (we found it a week before he ended up passing), but after talking to people last month, I know 100% that if I ever get the Big C, I will immediately do a diet like this.

  95. Colleen, thank you for taking the time to write. I'm so sorry you lost your grandfather. I pray you never have to try the diet, and I will certainly forward the info on to our friend's family. It may be too late for her from what we've been told, but you never know. So thank you again.

Samantha Morton, there is a news item about her in the DM and I was thinking a while back she crossed over the mainstream US films and then suddenly she disappeared
