Blind Item #5
This show creator of a hit cable show admitted that he let his peen get the best of him when he cast this B- list mostly movie actress in a role for which she was not suited. She said she would sleep with him if she got the part and he really wanted to, she got the part and was hated. She slept with a cast member to get him to stick up for her, but he just blew her off when she tried to get him on her side and keep her on the show.

DeleteI don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Megan on Mad Men, but I don't blame the actress. I think she does well enough. It's the character that's a child bride cipher. Not saying this couldn't be true, but I don't think the actress is that bad. I actually liked her french song.

Depending on where MM goes with Megan, this could be Jessica Pare. Though I think she's done a good job with the part.
Agree with JAS - Munn has gotten a lot better on The Newsroom. Now it's Alison Pill who annoys me.

Yeah Minn is one of the featured people on that show. Shes terrible and her blotchy face looks really bad but shes staying.

DeleteI'd go with Pare, but the "mostly movies" thing doesn't quite fit. Before being cast as Megan, Pare had done a lot of work in both TV and movies, including a second-lead in "Jack & Bobby". Throughout season 4 of MM, I kinda suspected something was going to happen with her because she had a far bigger resume than the actors who are usually cast as receptionists. (Same thing last season with James Wolk as Bob Benson.) She might have slept with someone to get the part, but the part was always intended to be much bigger -- I suspect it wasn't a case of her dropping trou after filming was underway.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, I say this as someone who isn't exceptionally fond of Pare or Megan but likes them well enough. I'm just weary of the disproportionate pileon that they get from Mad Men fans who won't rest until someone takes a knife and chops her into itty bitty pieces. I guess I feel the need to defend all the female characters that fans loathe. (I've never even watched Breaking Bad, but I want to take up arms on Skyler's behalf. *g*)

ReplyDeleteThing is, I wouldn't hate Megan/Pare if her screen time weren't so wildly disproportionate to other characters with more backstory. I am still pissed that Weiner said something to the effect of it being obvious Joan won Avon when the story line was dropped after "A Tale of Two Cities." No asshole, it wasn't obvious, which is why so many people were clamoring for a follow-up about it and, incidentally, hoping that Megan would be killed at the end of the season.

@Dewie, fellow Mad Men nerd and I agree with you 100%. The Avon storyline was as big as Pete and Detroit, but instead we had to watch The Trials and Tribulations of Megan Draper, Actress and Wronged Wife.
