He had made arrangements with some photographers to capture us being together. He would try and hold my hand while jogging. It was all ridiculous. He would look at what I was going to wear and it had to match what he was wearing. Not identically, but the style. If he was wearing a worn out pair of shorts, then I was supposed to also look like I was wearing things I had for years. He would spend hours obsessing over each of these details. Should I wear headphones? Should he? Should we wear the same ones? What color? Those were a very long three weeks. Hours and hours preparing for a two minute jog around the block and then to the back of the building and up just so it would look like we had the perfect marriage."

I doubt we'll ever hear any truly spectacular stories from her, though. Like Mimi and Nicole, I'm sure she's legally restricted from giving out any of the good stuff.

I recall an Oprah interview at his Colorado home where she was interviewing Tom. Katie 'unexpectedly' popped in and I noticed the same thing. She was very awkward about it and seemed to be acting. It was portrayed as them not being able to be apart, yet Katies demeanor was one of boredom and 'whatever'. I guess the exercising was the same way.

I agree that I wouldn't want to be married to someone with this level of controlling nature, but really, it's no accident that this guy has been a star for more than 30 years.
He's got no education, he's not a wildly talented actor, and he doesn't even have that much sex appeal, but he's got incredible ambition, energy and drive.
@Nutty. I believe that Tom didn't go to college because he struggled with dyslexia.

ReplyDeleteThose pictures are a trip!! And they do add up to the clues in this blind. Tom and Katie even appear to be wearing matching outfits in quite a few of those pictures. I do recall seeing pics of these two jogging and holding hands and thinking to myself - who the fuck does that?

If it weren't for the Sea Org, it wouldn't be a bad deal to smile, hold hands and coordinate one's outfits for cameras in exchange for lifetime financial security. I just worked 14 hours with barely a break to potty. Two minutes around the block with a fashion-fussy husband, maybe followed by a farmer's market outing with the kid to look at eggplants and apples, seems like an easier day.
